This is a delightful collection of very short episodes. It is the first work I’ve read by this author and the first by any Palestinian author. I’m sorry I can’t read it in the original language and sorry that there aren’t more English translations available. It impresses me how hope always shines through the sadness, loss and tragedy of many of the stories.

I received this book as a gift from my friend Nada Qafesha :)

I really liked the first two short stories that are somehow based on our lives as Palestinian.
About the other stories, both the language and the writing style are good. Metaphors are well chosen. But some of these stories are too short!. By that I mean that the author could have added more details to the stories to make it a bit longer. For example, Earthly Paradise has a good plot, good theme, but I'd like it even more if it was longer, or if it contained more suspense because this story is based on some kind of a mystery.

Otherwise I liked what I read, but I felt like I needed more.

"it my city was a shithole, what does that make us?"p2.
such a great short stories written by a great young man.
My fav. ones are, Mines, suger mountain, 9.
Earthy Paradise might be one also because of the great plot but there is so suspense even though it is a mysterious short story.
the suspense disappeare by solving the mystery after telling it.
on page 61. "will they laugh had they faced death?" are they two questions or grammatical mistakes
correcting by "will they laugh when they face time?"
or " would they laugh if they had faced death?".
