A truly worthwhile book that took me from knowing almost nothing about the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, to deploying it for use in a test environment. I'm still ironing out the many details, but this book gave me 80% of what I needed to know in order to complete my project at work. This book is not easy to work through, assuming a fairly wide base of experience from its reader—which is both understandable and laudable—and so requires hard work. This book is not a reference; it's more of a walk-through, a guided tour through exercises for learning the MDT. Considering the almost impenetrable nature of the MDT's own documentation, this book was exactly what I needed, when I needed it.

The book also introduced me to the power of PowerShell, a new scripting language built into Microsoft's operating systems since Windows Vista. By the time I reached the end I had bought two more specifically about learning PowerShell. I'm rather ashamed that it took me this long to realize how valuable this scripting language can be, but credit "Deployment Fundamentals, Vol. 6" as proving the point. Thank you, Johan Arwidmark.
