New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
Laine and Mackenzie (Justice for Mackenzie, book one) are best friends and would do anything for each other. So when Mack has a work engagement she can't get out of, Laine's role of assistant/support giver during a photo shoot for a charity calendar turns into the coordinator/"I can't believe I'm doing this" position. But Laine will be thanking Mack for having to bail on her, once she meets the next "model."
Westin, a Texas Ranger and ranch owner, works with Daxton, Mack's Ranger boyfriend, and agreed to do the calendar. He expected to be slightly uncomfortable as someone took pictures of him all day. He did not expect to meet Laine, the woman who would come to mean everything to him.
Wes and Laine have an instantaneous, and hot, connection. It doesn't take long for Wes to ask her out and Laine eagerly accepts. They both know something is there, something worth exploring. As they're getting to know each other, Laine disappears and no one can find her. Wes is desperate to locate the woman he loves and calls on his friends to help.
Will Laine be found in time? Will Wes and Laine find their HEA? Will the charity calendar be a success? One-click now and find out. While this novella can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order because not only is this author and her writing fantastic, but also as previous characters are mentioned in this book, and I know you'll be curious about their stories.
On a side note, I will be editing my review as I read the other contributions. I just couldn't resist reading and writing my review now for one of my favorite authors.
I received an ARC in return for an honest review. When you have 12 extraordinary authors coming together to write an awesome box set, one will not be disappointed. I am a big fan of all of these wonderful ladies. Each story was written with such passion and intensity that it grips you from the first story all the way to the last. When I reached the last page of the box set, I just stared at it and thought to myself, " Wait a minute!" This can't be over, I want more!! To all you readers out there avid followers or new, this is a total must read and is so worth it. I will definitely add one more thing, when these powerhouse ladies write, you will love them and continue to become emotionally involved in their books like I have.
I don't think I will ever get tired of reading stories from the Double Stud Ranch! In Protect and Serve, Claire Silver is feeling time ticking away and wondering if she will ever find "Mr. Right". Charlie Dunham aka Officer Hottie McHotterson has had a crush on Claire since school days, and when he pulls over a car breaking the speed limit, he's thrilled to be crossing paths with Claire once again. Charlie and Claire have a chemistry that instantly ignites. This story has it all! Highly recommend!
3* Justice Burning by Elle James This was a quick read with a runaway bride and a hot lawman. Phoebe Sinclair realized that she did love and couldn't marry Ryan and plans to tell him. Phoebe runs after her groom disappears from the church before she can talk to him. She meets Nash Grayson Deputy Sheriff after she's broken down at the side of the road and has discovered a jail able situation. They are both drawn to each other and can't keep their minds off the other. The only problem is that Nash just might have to arrest Pheobe if he finds out what she's been hiding.
This hefty omnibus of western-flavored contemporary shorts has mixed degrees of romance, suspense and steamy sex. Having only read a different series from Beth Williamson there was no expectation or history. All outings were strong enough to stand alone and easy to follow, though a couple of previous relationships were obvious and averaged about 100 pages (GR's page count is off by 200pgs)
Justice for Laine by Susan Stoker (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes #4) Rating:4.25stars
Justice Burning by Elle James (Hellfire Texas #2) Rating: 3.5stars
Laying Down the Law by Becky McGraw (Cowboy Way #4) Rating: 3.5stars
12 of my favorite authors in one place, each with one of their amazing stories & lots of Hot, Sexy Cowboy Lawmen thrown into this boxed set???! What's not to love? Each of these authors writes an amazing Cowboy & his special someone....I loved each story!!! This would be a great start to getting to know any of these authors if you haven't read anything by them yet.
These are all relatively short stories of romances between a male protector and a female in danger. Several are second chance romances and all have instant feelings. Good characters and heat.
Cowboy Justice 12- Pack contains twelve wonderful contemporary western romantic suspense stories written by twelve fantastic authors. I highly recommend it.
WOW! What a great set up stories by some amazing authors. Must read if you love cowboys and hot romances!

Nash is now a sheriff and the one to assist her when she has car trouble. I haven't read any of the Ugly Stick Saloon stories and now need to add them to my list to read about the others.

Brock's son is ill and the doctor's can't figure out what's wrong so he takes a chance and asks Melanie to check him out. Will she be able to find out what's wrong before it's too late? A great story that will have you laughing at the same time hoping they figure out what's wrong Brock's son.

Can Dallas let go of the past so he can have a future with the beautiful rancher? This story is hot and sweet and just puts a smile on your face.
Cain's Law - Carina's on the run from her boyfriend but when he finds her and sets fire to the cabin she's staying at Cain's elected to watch her. Just has they think he's gone and give into their attraction he comes back and doesn't care who gets in his way to get to her. This was a fun story to read with just enough heat.
Cowboy Lawe - Strange things happen on Rooks ranch but when things escalate they figure out someone's after them. Tarah is assigned to watch over him but since he won't take help she goes in undercover as someone he needs to watch over. Sparks fly between them but what will happen who she really is? Love a story with a gal who has snarky comments, makes for a fun read!
Cowboy's Best Shot - Adriana is a former prostitute now working as a bartender but enjoying herself off the clock. Hunter works security for the resort and has seen her after hours activities and when he saves her from a bad situation things change between them. When someone starts framing her will he figure out who it is in time? A great romance with a hero who's the strong silent type and a great supporting cast!
Protect & Serve - Guess who's back in town as sheriff and is hot? Charlie used to be mean to Claire when they were kids as only a young boy can be but now he's all grown up and so's she. When they start dating he finds out how older brothers can be since her's aren't to thrilled about the situation but they don't care. Unfortunately someone else doesn't like it either and wants her for himself. Loved this story, great characters and it had me laughing at her brothers and at the same time wanting some of the baked goods that are in the story.
Badge & A Saddle - Watching through her telescope one night Mina saw more then she expected. On the run she chose Rex, a policeman, to protect her. He does but when he finds out all she knows about what happens can he trust her again. A great story that has you routing for them to make it from the start.
Blind Sided - When Kara is attacked Cade is the one to arrive at the scene. Kara left her family home to get away from her father and Cade has always had a thing for her but when they were younger he was from the wrong side of town for her father. When they realize she's still in danger she refuses to go with her father and instead stays with Cade. When they find out who's behind the attacks will they survive to have their HEA? I loved this story and it keeps you guessing while enjoying watching them finally get together.
Lazarus - Bea's story was broken into and Lazarus is the one sent to investigate. Will they be able to let go of the past and figure out the thefts and give romance a chance? This was a fun read with another fun couple.
I received a complementary copy for a honest review
Would you believe, I read all 12 of these amazing stories in less than a week. ALL 12! They were all that good. So yes, if you haven't gotten this deal yet grab it quick before the price goes up. Even then, it will still be worth the price of admission. 12 wonderful, entertaining stories.
If you are concerned that many of these are other than a book one in a series, don't worry about it. Even though I read most of these authors, cowboys isn't always at the top of my list. I like them well enough, but I tend to the other tropes these authors write so haven't necessarily read all the series either. But each of these did well as stand-alone reads. So hop on. You won't get lost.
JUSTICE FOR LAINE by Susan Stoker - this says that it is a book four of the Badge of Honor Texas Heroes series. Although characters from previous books were mentioned, they did not detract from the action in this story. In fact they rather enhanced it. I may go find the other stories, but it isn't a burning need. This story? I will say this much - Hot calendar models and stray dogs. *grin*
JUSTICE BURNING by Elle James - A Hellfire story #2. I do know this author, but haven't read a lot by her. But this story was rather fun. Run-away bride generally piques my interest. Having land in a small town called Hellfire . . . some interesting twists and turns to this adventure.
LAYING DOWN THE LAW by Becky McGraw - The Cowboy Way #4 - Brock's story. Nope. Have read any of these either. Didn't matter. But how did Brock do that to himself? Really? Could thing the Doctor came to town. He needed the help. Good story.
TEXAS JUSTICE by Cynthia D'Alba - Diamond Lakes, Texas. I have a few of this author's cowboy stories, but I don't think we have been to Diamond Lakes Yet. Sounds like a nice place to visit. Not sure about the politics there though. But, it seems the sheriff is on it.
TEXAS LONE STAR by Sable Hunter - Texas Heroes #4. *sigh* I do love them Texas Rangers. Even, or especially, the broken ones. A lovely story with action and adventure. I do have to mention, Lennon surprised me.
CAIN'S LAW by Delilah Devlin - Cowboys on the Edge. Another of the authors I have been reading for a few years. She always has a good story. This one didn't disappoint. Although there was some interesting action, there was also a rather sweet romance.
COWBOY LAWE by Donna Michaels - Dangerous Curves #4. Stands alone just fine and with this blurb, "More than bullets fly when a former SEAL protects a sexy witness who’s actually an undercover agent secretly assigned to protect the stubborn SEAL." *grin* enjoy.
COWBOY'S BEST SHOT by Lexi Post - Poker Flats #3. I gotta say, this one stuck with me a bit. Not totally sure why except for the very broken people finding their way. This was almost gut wrenching. Wow! Will be Looking into the rest of this series.
PROTECT AND SERVE by Sabrina York. This author, I have read just about everything she has written and I happen to know this is the third prequel to the Stripped Down series. Although, yes I have read the other prequels, this will stand-alone. The high jinks that goes on at the Stud Ranch are always entertaining.
BADGE AND A SADDLE by Randi Alexander. Great action going on in this. Lots of twists, turns and surprises.
BLIND SIDED by Lindsay McKenna. This one is so aptly named. The romance was especially sweet and poignant, not to mention some heart stopping action.
LAZARUS by Beth Williamson - Circle Eight Millennium. Another poignant read with a broken Texas rancher and the lady in the distress who helps him fix his past. Not as action packed as some of the others but didn't lack for story.
I have to mention that in putting together this little review, I was reminded that there are a couple of other collections by this group of authors - Cowboy 12 pack and 12-Alarm Cowboys. I have both in my to be read mountain. I really need to dig these out and read them. Bet I will find some of the early stories right there. *sigh* Bet you do too. If not, I recommend you grab them too. It will keep you in books to read for a while. At the current prices that is 36 stories for $6.97. What a steal.

I hope we get to know more about Remy in the future as well as the other members of the Knight Agency. A great addition to the series. Highly recommend to all fans of cowboys, SEALs, romance, and happy endings.
"COWBOY'S BEST SHOT" (Poker Flat Series Book 3) by Lexi Post is a great read. I loved Adriana and Hunter's story! Highly recommend to all fans of romance and hot cowboys. Great addition to the Poker Flats Series.

This was a great anthology written by great authors. I loved each story I read. My biggest problem is that I ran out of time so I haven’t read all of them. I highly recommend. Justice for Laine-Susan Stoker-4 Stars Laine meets Wes when she agrees to accompany her friend on a charity photoshoot to capture a “real” cowboy. She doesn’t expect the instant attraction between the two of them. This was a complete and straightforward story. I really liked the flow of the story and the characters. Justice Burning-Elle James-5 Stars Phoebe Sinclair is jilted at the alter. In her relief, she steals the groom’s car and skips out of town, only to find out that the groom hadn’t really skipped town and she has led an innocent town into danger. When I read the description, I didn’t think I was going to like the story. Then I read the story. The author blew me away with how great it was. I loved following Phoebe grow up and find a life she never thought she’d have. Loved it. Laying Down The Law-Becky McGraw-4 Stars Melanie Fox is a successful doctor in Texas, far away from her hometown in Georgia. When she’s forced to go back home to take care of her mother and aunt, she runs into Brock Cooper. Brock is the new sheriff and former bad boy that Melanie had been in love with when she was a teenager. Right from the bat they clash, but when Brock asks her to help with his ailing son, Melanie does what she can to help him. This was a pretty good story. I really liked the characters, especially Melanie’s mom. The only problem I had, and why I’d give it a 4 instead of a 5, is that Brock can’t seem to stop calling Melanie by a nickname that was horrible to her throughout the story. This really bugged me, although it didn’t deter from the story as a whole. Texas Justice-Cynthia D’Alba-5 Stars Kyle Monroe is the town sheriff. He finally got Tess Sweeney, a surgeon at the local hospital, to start dating him. When she’s accused of malpractice and tries to push him away, he refuses to let her go. This was a great story. The characters were well written and there was a lot of story for the amount of pages given. Texas Lone Star-Sable Hunter-3.5 Stars Dallas McCain is a bitter Texas Ranger. When he’s asked to check out a claim of cattle being stolen, he doesn’t expect his whole outlook on life to be changed. This was a very cute story with a serious plot. My only complaint is that Lennon, although definitely a survivor, seems to have her head in a romance novel in regards to Dallas and I had a little problem with that. Cain’s Law-Delilah Devlin-4 Stars Cain Whitfield is a deputy in a small Texas town. When he’s called to assist with a fire and sees the victim, Carina Black, he starts to feel things he hasn’t felt in a long time. This was a good, quick read. Some of the scenes were really hot and there was a good overall story. Protect and Serve-Sabrina York-5 Stars Charlie Dunham just became the new sheriff in his old hometown. When he pulls over Claire Silver, his old high school crush and his best friend’s younger sister, his interest and attraction are still very much alive. Now he’ll have to see if the feelings are mutual. This was a really good story with a combination of coming home plot and best friend’s little sister with a bit of danger thrown in for good measure. The story flowed very well. I especially loved the dancing scene:) I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more from this series. **I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest
I like how the story starts, the characters names are great! I like the bond that Mack and Laine have and I like how Mack is bribing Laine to help with photo shoot. This is well written so far and I am enjoying it. I love the that there was an instant attraction between Wes and Laine. Loved the mystery of the story the romances that blossomed between them. IT was very hot sparks through out the book. It was a great story.
Justice Burning by Elle James
It's great how the story started. I like the name of the town. It's perfect what is happen. I like how the story is going but Phoebe should cover up things when she is around the law. Nash is perfect for her as long as he is will to take a chance on love. I like the bond that The Grayson Brothers have. They have fun with each other and pick on each other and it's great. It's good that Nash is opening up to someone instead of keeping it bottled up. This story was written really well and I like the suspense and the love that was happening. It was a great ending!
Laying Down the Law by Becky McGraw Excellent Excellent Story!! Great romance from the passed! Brock needs Melaine's strength to make it through everything that he is going through keep the woman he really loves! All the characters are fantastic and I love them all! It was well written!

Hunter and Ariana were great for each other! Story plot was fantastic and very interesting beginning. I was not expecting it and it was a nice surprise. I liked the suspense.
Serve and Protect by Sabrina York
I thought it was great how Sabrina decided to start the story. Charlie is perfect for Claire even with the meddling brothers that she has. Love the characters they are fantastic. Loved the whole story it was fantastic! Great ending!
Badge and a Saddle by Randi Alexander
The Characters are great in this story! I like the suspense of of the plots! I like how the the good doctor picked Rex out of all the people in there were to trust. Randi did another excellent job of writing this book. Loved the ending.
Blind Sided by Lindsay McKenna
It's a good story! I like the variety of personalities in all the characters. Cade and Kara great together and their strong instincts are fantastic. They maybe from two side of the money world but she does care. She cares about more important things than that and that is what great about the whole story. Lindsay did an excellent job of writing it. Brock needs Melaine's strength to make it through everything that he is going through keep the woman he really loves! All the characters are fantastic and I love them all! It was well written!
Lazarus by Beth Williamson
Excellent Story! I loved that it forced Lazarus to come to terms with his past and reconnected with the woman he always had feelings for. I loved how the whole story was written it was fantastic.
The Cowboy Justice 12 Pack is a great boxed set! It’s packed with action, adventure, intrigue, suspense, and romance. And of course it’s full of hot, sexy cowboy lawmen. I’ve purchased some boxed sets that not every story appealed to me, but I liked each and every one in this anthology, and even loved a few. It kept me up reading late into the night several nights. It’s also a great deal for 12 books. Some of the authors I had read books by previously, but I also found some new authors to follow. This set is a must read for romance fans, especially romantic suspense and western fans. I highly recommend it.
This review is for Laying Down The Law by Becky McGraw. (Will add more as I finish.)
I have always been a huge fan of anything that Becky McGraw writes, and this book was no exception. Brock Cooper is the Sheriff in the little town of Sunny Glen, Georgia. He has his hands full, what with being sheriff, trying to run his ranch, and making time for his son, Brady, who is sick more days than he is well. Melanie Fox, is a Doctor, and she is called home to help her mother who has had an "accident". Melanie doesn't want to go back home, she considers it a place where 500 of the oddest hillbillies on earth live, and believe me her mother Merry and Aunt June, are definitely odd, but lovable! Melanie does not have fond memories of the place, and she never expects to run up with Brock, her first crush. Brock and Melanie cannot believe how much they have both changed, and Melanie would prefer to leave this town sooner rather than later, but once she meets Brady, she has no choice but to help him, to figure out why he is so sick. If you love romance with sexy men, strong women, passion, humor, suspense, heartache, and yes, even a little hardheadedness, that would be Brock, then this is the book for you. I did not want to put it down once I started reading. Great job, Becky McGraw, I loved it and would give it more than five stars if I could!
This is a review of Texas Lone Star by Sable Hunter.
A Texas Ranger named Dallas is called on to help a lady rancher by the name of Lennon, not only are some of her cattle missing, but other weird things are going on at her ranch, and the local sheriff is turning a blind eye to her problems. Lennon, or Lenny, lives with her odd little family, that consists of an older man named George and Sally, her adopted daughter. This was a great read, and time I read the story of how Dallas got his name, I was a goner. Some of the people in his life were real jerks, that caused him a lot of pain. This is a must read that tugs at all kinds of emotions, sadness, happiness, hope, and love. Be prepared to swoon and giggle!!
This is a review of Cowboy Lawe by Donna Michaels.
Although this book is part of the Dangerous Curves series, it can be read as a standalone, and oh, what a great little read it was. Callahan "Rook" Lawe, has went home to his ranch, to help his brother, Remy who has had a little accident, sort of. Rook has recently started working for the Knight Agency, and although his brother says he doesn't need his help with the odd things that have been happening at the ranch, Rook refuses to leave. To say that he put the "S" in stubborn is putting it mildly. Since Rook will not accept help from the agency, they send him a woman that supposedly needs his protection, ha! Her name is Tarah Lynch, or Ms. Tarah Swanson, who also works for the Knight agency, although she and Rook have never met. From the beginning the chemistry between these two is off the charts, but also are the bombings, break-ins, and other weird happenings around the ranch, and it all seemed to start with two tiny little kittens, named Semper and Fi. This is a must read if you are a lover of romance filled with suspense, drama, humor, sexy men, and feisty heroines. I loved old Burly, he is a mess. And I do hope that Remy, gets his own book, I think there is a lot more to him than we saw in this book. Five fantastic stars!!
Lexi Post has reeled me in from the very beginning with this intriguing band of misfits and their unique soul deep loyalty to each other and the Poker Flat community.
Everyone has a shady background or hidden burden they’re trying to out run. Hunter McKade is no different. A solitary man with inner demons he just can’t shake, Hunter is the ghost in the night that protects the staff and guests from unwanted attention. But his patrols often present him with the opportunity to witness the sexcapades of the vivacious Adriana, and that is something Hunter just can’t ignore.
Larger than life, Adriana has never apologised for her love of intimate contact, or the pleasure she gets from multiple partners of any persuasion. Basic gratification is all Adriana craves, but the ability to hit her sexual peak has become impossible without the intense scrutiny of one dark and mysterious cowboy, during her carnal romps with the Poker Flat guests.
But someone has decided that Adriana must go, and the events that begin to unfold make it impossible for Kendra to keep Adriana employed and protect her life’s passion, the Poker Flat Nudist Resort. So before Kendra is forced to dismiss Adriana, she mandates a self imposed 'vacation' to allow time for Adriana to clear her name.
Hunter becomes entangled in the heated desires he has tried to ignore as he embarks on a mission to to prove that this spirited, sensual and somewhat emotionally fragile woman, is not the lecherous villain she's been branded, and to keep her and the Poker Flat oddballs in his life.
This is one of my favourite series and I’m sure readers will love Hunter and Adriana’s story as much as I did.
LAYING DOWN THE LAW by Becky McGraw......
The Cowboy Way series is always entertaining and the characters are troubled and scarred in their own unique ways.
Laying Down the Law brings together two people with a past history of humiliation and misunderstandings. A teenage girl who was ridiculed and embarrassed for her physical appearance and the high school jock that everyone adored.
As adults they must face the demons of the past and come together for the health and welfare of an innocent child and find some middle ground to accomplish what so many have failed to achieve for 3 long years; solve the mystery of Brady’s illness.
Old grudges will surface, jealousy will run rampant, and amongst it all, two people will discover that time can heal certain wounds and it’s never too late for love.
PROTECT AND SERVE by Sabrina York......
Great characters, an intriguing and action-packed plot, and the easy flow of the author's writing style has made this series one of my 'Must reads'.
Cowboy Justice 12-Pack is a great value – 12 different stories from 12 great authors. So far I’ve only read two of the books but the boxed set is worth the price just for these two books alone.
Justice Burning by Elle James
Elle James has written another wonderful story full of suspense and romance. This isn’t a long read but it’s perfect when you want something that you can finish easily in one sitting.
Phoebe is having second thoughts about marriage but when her fiancé skips out right before the ceremony is to start she is furious and takes off in the convertible he’s rented. Thus begins an adventure she could never have imagined.
First there’s a flat tire, then a huge shock when she goes looking for the spare and then a sheriff deputy, Nash Grayson, stops to see if she needs help.
Nash did four tours of combat duty before he was injured and retired. He became a deputy so he could continue to serve and protect. When Phoebe “Smith” needs his help he’s all in even though he senses that she’s hiding something from him.
Fans of the Ugly Stick Saloon series, written by Elle’s alter ego, Myla Jackson, will be happy to catch up with a few familiar characters that appear in this story. Justice Burning is a great addition to the Hellfire, Texas and Ugly Stick Saloon worlds.
Cain’s Law by Delilah Devlin
While this is a fairly short story (about 70 pages) it sure packs a punch. Carina is on the run from her mobster ex-boyfriend who wants to kill her. Cain meets her when the cabin she is staying in catches fire. Carina is a stranger to the area and rented the cabin for only a short time so she is a suspect in the arson.
Cain was burned by his ex-wife when she left and took everything with her. The last thing he needs is a relationship with another pretty woman but he can’t seem to resist the attraction he feels for Carina. The chemistry between Cain and Carina is on fire (pun intended – lol) and boy do things get spicy! Delilah Devlin knows just how to craft an entertaining and sexy, hot read!
There are many fine collections available with terrific contributing authors, but I have to say, the Cowboy Justice 12 Pack is one of the best I have read! What a great line-up!
Susan Stoker, Elle James, Becky McGraw, Cynthia D'Alba, Sable Hunter, Delilah Devlin, Donna Michaels, Lexi Post, Sabrina York, Randi Alexander, Lindsay McKenna, Beth Williamson.
This is a fantastic value for stories that will capture your heart! I love the uniqueness of each author that I'm familiar with ~ Lindsay McKenna, Elle James, Susan Stoker and Deliah Devlin ~ these amazing ladies, writing vulnerable, strong and passionate individuals, in challenging situations, takes me out of my comfort zone and transports me to another place where life is a bit more exciting. Nothing makes me happier than discovering new writers, in varying genres, so I can't wait to add the remaining ladies to my TBR list.
Justice For Laine by Susan Stoker is delightfully told and I fell in love with Laine and Wes! Justice Burning by Elle James is hilarious with a runaway bride coming up against a Texas Ranger. Phoebe and Nash are so special!
Lindsay McKenna puts her heart and soul in every book she writes. Blindsided is a poignant book about a young girl and boy, 6 years old, growing up in the same town, who loved each other from the first day, with the beauty of a child's innocence. Meeting again as adults, they discover their emotions remain unchanged, despite all the years in-between. What follows is a powerful testament to the sanctity of love and what it takes to endure the harshest experiences in life. This is truly one of the most exquisitely told stories I have read!
Becky McGraw's Laying Down The Law is a humorous and witty story about a woman doctor heading home to see about her "wacky" accident prone mother and meeting her first love. It was a delightful read and I will definitely be exploring her other books.
If you want to brighten your day, be sure to order this collection. Kudos to all the wonderful authors who contributed.
Review for Sabrina York's "Protect & Serve" - Claire grew up with two bossy, annoying, overbearing and overprotective brothers and is tired of them telling her what to do. Charlie is back home from Iraq and the new Sherriff in town. When these two reconnect over a speeding ticket sparks fly! But when Claire really needs someone who will be there for her?
When I purchased this boxed set, I was expecting short, quick reads. What I received were twelve very in-depth not-short/not-long stories, all involving cowboy lawmen or men who just need to do the right thing. I had my favorite: Blind Sided by Lindsay McKenna however the eleven other stories were each good in their own way. In Blind Sided, there was a touch of Ms. McKenna’s Delos series. The story was very intense and dealt with some deep, dark issues but you will love the “sweetness” (for lack of a better word) of Kara and Cade. It is their depth that will get to you as it did me. Five stars all the way.
There were some funny lines in the stories – one that made me laugh was also in the snippet at the very beginning (in Lazarus): fripperies! Reading “he has no time for life’s fripperies” just cracked me up. And it fit in the story. Trust me. In Texas Lone Star, your heart will melt for all the characters, especially the little cherub in the story. Justice For Laine was great – a story about a couple who are not in their 20’s and although it had intrigue, it was a life story. No spoilers from me. And Donna Michaels provided a different spin on protection duty in Cowboy Lawe. Love it when alpha men have the tables turned! Good reads, all.
It wasn’t a fast read, as I said, so grab a comfy seat and enjoy. All the stories were enjoyable, even though I had a favorite, and you will certainly get your money’s worth. My 4-stars are because some of the stories needed better editing and I had my 5-star fav but there you go.
Opening up Cowboy Justice was like opening the best gift ever. For just 99 pennies I got to experience the talents of 12 different Romance writers. I am still swooning over the cowboy heroes they created with their words. Two of my favorite authors, Becky McGraw and Donna Michaels, were contributors. I would have purchased the anthology just for their contributions. I got 1o amazing bonus books as icing on the cake. Everyone has different likes and dislikes which make reviewing a challenge. What makes them all wonderful reads is that they all have at least one gorgeous hunky cowboy. All of the cowboys have to save or protect someone that needed help. For example in Becky McGraw's story, Laying Down the Law, Melanie is a doctor that returns to her small-town for family reasons. She keeps crossing paths with a hunky sheriff. Their lives become interwoven. In Elle James story, Justice Burning, a runaway bride pulls up into a small town with unexpected baggage. The sheriff helps to save the day. It helps that they have an instant connection. Even though all of the stories had a damsel in distress concept, the different stories all had something amazing, something addictive, something unique. They all had something guiding me to more books to buy. This anthology is going to make me go broke in a good way.
** I received a copy from the Author in return for an honest review… **
" Charlie Durham was back in town. And damn he was hot!! " That was one of the thoughts Claire Silver had. Before Charlie a new State Trooper wrote her a speeding ticket. Threaten her with jail and suspending her license. After that she thought he was a jerk.
What a way to impress the girl you had the hots for in high school. And if truth be told, still have the hots for 10 yrs later.
Charlie is determined to date Claire this time around. Claire also is determined to get to know Charlie better and date him too. Nothing is going to stop them. Not her two older over- protective brothers or a psychic ex - boyfriend. Let's just say life is never dull.
Claire is starting to realize that she is falling hard for the sexy state trooper. Can Charlie save Claire in time to stop her ex from kidnapping her? This story has it all, a sexy cop, strippers, over bearing brothers, a jealous best friend. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read about all the other sexy hot cowboys in this book.
I've had the pleasure of reading Justice Burning by Elle James that is included in this collection of twelve books. Phoebe has always listened to her parents and did what they asked, but marrying someone that they picked out without really knowing him and loving him didn't feel right so when his best man told her that Ryan was nowhere to be found she ran. She ran from the church as fast as she could. Getting away from everyone and out of town was her plan of action. Nash has been home from combat for the last thirteen months working as a deputy. After being in the military and serving four tours in the Middle East he was pretty content being back home where nothing much happened. Finding a young woman stranded on the side of the road with her car broken down wearing a wedding dress and no shoes was strange, but if anything he just felt sorry for her. The more Phoebe and Nash get to know one another the more they realize that their attraction is growing, but is it enough to keep their relationship going when Nash finds out about the secrets that Phoebe is keeping from him and everyone else in town?
I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
Texas Justice by Cynthia D'Alba is the 1st story in this boxed set that I've read so far and I will be adding reviews for each book as I read them. Sheriff Kyle Monroe & Dr. Tess Sweeney are an item. A secret item. Her past has come back to haunt her in the O.R. and fears it will bring havoc on Kyle. Kyle is a strong man and great sheriff and he's standing behind her 100%. Great read with people to love and people to hate. One of them being Kyle's twin brother who is charge of the hospital. This story has a great twist and surprise ending where Texas justice comes to a head!
Badge and Saddle by Randi Alexander gives us some more cowboy justice in the form of a new rookie detective Rex, his step-uncle, a retired sheriff and his 2 buds, an EMT and firefighter. Dr. Mina Cooper is on the run after video taping a shooting/murder with a camera on her telescope. She teams up with Rex after being missing for 5 days. Not allowing him to get help from the precinct. Not trusting any cop but him. Rex hides her out at his ranch his uncle still lives on and calls in reinforcements from his buddies. These guys sure know how to save the day and Mina!
This is a great read for a novella! This was a nice long novella that seemed to last and last. I'm thoroughly OK with this as Susan Stoker is an AWESOME writer!! Her story had me from the first chapter. This story had it all. The romance, the danger, the influx of characters, everything I NEED in Susan Stoker stories! This story brought in some older characters and some new ones. This is not just a novella, this is another wonderful addition to her Badge of Honor Series! You'll love THIS STORY!!
This is a wonderfully hot and steamy box set! I can't wait to get into some of the other authors alittle deeper. I got this set for 1 author, but in true reader fashion, I cannot just stop at 1..LOL There are different styles, but 1 common theme! HOT as hell COWBOYS! Who doesn't melt for some HOT COWBOYS?? Take a chance on these stories, you WONT be let down!! I can't wait to see what else I uncover on these Cowboys! Bring on the BBF's!!!
This review is for Laying Down The Law by Becky McGraw in this box set. I love it when second chance at love turns out good. It is a small town with good people and then you also have the not so good to deal with. Either big or small you will almost always run into both and it is how you handle the problems that come up that makes the story believable. This catches you from the beginning and you can only imagine how the rest of the box set will read. Added after finishing all 12 stories in the box set. You will not be disappointed you got it. All great stories told by some amazing authors. Just enough detail to keep your interest throughout the stories.
This box set is hot, steamy, and oh so good!!!! Each and every story is delicious unto itself, but together as a box set?? Outstanding!! Believe me, you will not be disappointed ordering this set. On top of a price you can't beat, the stories are entertaining and you easily become totally immersed in the stories. I have read books from all the authors, which was part of my decision to purchase this item. After reading these stories, please don't hesitate to further explore the authors other books, for a wonderful reading experience. I highly recommend anything by any of these authors. Enjoy!
