I have say that I had myself a good time jet setting around and experiencing the life that less than 10% of the world gets a taste of on a regular basis. I could see this life of Melisse belong to some unnamed woman working to maker her way in a world that eats people like her for breakfast and spit you out at lunch. I could relate to the story on a more humane connection. The pain, sorrow, joy, insight, confusion, illusions, and so much more. There were hints of truth being doled out and consumed along the way. The chase of each new page brought more to the surface. The more engaging portions literally captured your attention, emotions, and pulled a few heart strings.

Melisse was a dual natured person living in a world that would not allow for her to be herself. She had moment of complete frankness. Delusion all gone and the truth of it all was sat before you on a humble plate of life.

I enjoyed the beginning of Melisse's journey. I am looking to turn the pages of the next part of The Spicy Secrets of a Jet-$et Temptress.

If you are curious about what life must be like for modern day Escorts—what it’s really like—this is your book.
Initially I became concerned this was going to be just a pumped-up- glamorized, version of a high-priced escort’s lifestyle, full of fluff and wishful thinking-- but the story, (by about chapter 3?)-quickly takes a turn into the real—the VERY real and I was hooked—(no pun intended).
Written in third person and meant to be a fictional account, the fiction is thinly veiled and the lady beneath is very real—and suddenly we are on a journey into the psyche and heart of a woman leading a mandatorily secret life just beneath the surface of the rest of ours.
The book reminded me of a ‘spicy’ version of that game--“two truths and a lie”:
“The Lie” is yes, the story is (supposedly) fiction and told in third person—
BUT,
(Truth 1)--the voice beneath is as authentic as it is fascinating—
AND
(Truth 2)—There are “Spicy Secrets” peppered throughout which are an absolutely forthright combination of life lessons, tips and self-reminders the author has gleaned from her underground life.
Like her life as an escort—living two different lives—one that is socially safe and the other steeped in a spicy underground--The author tells the story in those two disparate voices.
On the surface she tells the story of Melisse, a fictionalized version of herself—but the voice that narrates speaks her truth in frank, undeniably raw and vulnerable accounts that at times made me laugh aloud and other times broke my heart.
Emotionally naked and brave, the author is at once witty and wry and wise and suddenly petulant and lustful, (completely human) practically eating men with breakfast…all of which I believe.
On a fun sexy note—she is particularly good at writing the erotica portions of her adventures and I found myself feeling like I was tucked away enjoying a secret delicious sexual Haagen Daas indulgence--
I understand, in our culture, it was safest for the author the write the book as fiction and third person, but the story is vibrant and real and a rare honest revealing look into the life of the modern day escort.
This author seduced me into her world, her journey and into her heart—She’s very good at her job!

Followers of my reviews will know its quite rare of me to read anything verging on erotica, or highly sexed to the extent that this book implies it could be. However when I was approached about reviewing this book, something really caught my imagination, and having now read the first book in this series, I am already eager for more.

Lantana Bleu draws on real life experiences as mentioned in the preface, and the impression I get is that she really knows her sex, has done a fabulous job researching this book, and the writing really reflects this.

This first part of the series, explains how Melisse became a top level courtesan, starting in strip clubs, and her friendships with GG and her closest friend in the bordello. We see just what drives Melisse as her vision for La Fantasia is explained, and I must say I am already rooting for this to become a reality, as I love the concept of a luxurious spa retreat for women, with male workers.

I really enjoyed reading some of the sexual encounters that Melisse has, between some of the fetish's her regulars have, to the hot and steamy men she meets in her non working life. There are many scenes that I will not touch on in detail, but lets say got me hot, bothered and I wish I was

Regularly punctuated throughout the book, are "spicy secrets". Initially the frequency of them I thought was going to be a deal breaker, but then they start to appear at a more regular pace. These secrets are a mixture of hints as to entertain your own multitude of lovers, should you be that way inclined, how to perhaps treat your own man slightly better, as well as quotes to do with your sexual nature.

Despite the subject matter of the book, I would not class this as pure erotica, in fact in places there was a distinct lack of the act being described, but more of a far more adult and mature themed romantic comedy. There are some really amusing scenes, plus one revenge scene that although well deserved, I felt could have been a lot less graphic. (Very glad I wasn't eating at the moment I hit that scene).

Melisse is just a regular girl, with a very healthy love of sex, trying to earn money to reach a goal. She is high class all the way, and barely drinks and doesn't do drugs. She is arguably an inspirational sort of person, as to what can be achieved, even if you personally don't agree with her chosen profession.

I loved The Spicy Secrets of a Jet Set Temptress and am eagerly awaiting the time when I can get my hands on books 2 and 3, to see how the story continues.

Unusual and enjoyable ride

In the name of honesty, I must say I’m an avid reader and a writer of erotic romance and erotica, which confers me the right to object to this book’s description as erotica. Despite its thematic, the story contains little to none scenes which could be called erotica. And the sex scenes that happen are definitely not described with the same detail one expects in this genre.

Secondly, I’m not a fan of self-help books so the constant breaking up of narrative flow to present second-hand insights about life in general in the form of quotes from other authors annoyed me to the point that after chapter three I would just skip them.

Well, these are the reasons why I knocked off one star from my rating. Now to the four stars… LOL

I don’t know – and in fact it wasn’t essential to my enjoying the story – if the book is really autobiographical or fictional and it does not matter because it’s an interesting ride. If it’s based on personal experience, kudos for her ballsy act. If it’s totally fictional, congrats on making the story so realistic. Either way, readers will engage with the story and keep on reading to know what happens next.

The same can be said about the characters. Regardless of their being real or fictional, they are fascinating people who have a lot to say to readers about their lives and their choices. Just as they remind us that all choices bring consequences. They are delightful.

I recommend The Spicy Secrets of a Jet Set Temptress to everyone looking for a light read about an issue that can turn quite dark and heavy in less capable hands.

The Spicy Secrets of a Jet Set Temptress", This is part 1 of 3 really whets your appetite for the following books in the series. This story follows Melisse as she recounts her time becoming a Jet Set Temptress or high priced call girl and she shares her "spicy secrets" that she has learned throughout the story. The story not only captures where Melisse is in her life now, but Melisse recounts how she has came to be such an in demand Jet Set Temptress. I'm by no means a prude, but I wasn't sure if I would like this story because I wondered how much of a story could be made out of a call girls lifestyle. Of course I expected the sex, but I am happy to say that I was more captured and captivated by the characters. Lantana Bleu developed characters that were interesting and relatable. After the first couple of chapters I found myself thinking of these characters as real people and I always view that as a success for the author. Especially when you finish the story and continue to wonder where Melisse's story will go next. I even found many of the "spicy secrets" relatable and useable. I rate this story a 5 hearts and would look forward to reviewing the following stories in this series.

At first, I wasn’t sure about the unusual style the story was written in, somewhat like a textbook, but it quickly grew on me. I was thrilled with the lack of grammatical errors, the editing was great!
I enjoyed the telling of the life of a prostitute without the usual obscenity that goes along with it. In this story, even the vulgarity manages to be classy.
I’m glad the past was covered and I liked that it wasn’t in the front of the book. The backstory added a lot of depth and believability to the story and believability is very important to me.
The back and forth between the past, the present and the future made me a little seasick at times, but once I got used to it I was alright with it. I feel like some of the story could have been more chronologically told after the initial well placed back story.
The story is full of emotional depth. There were highs and lows and fears and joys; all of which were so well described that you could almost reach out and touch the very emotion itself.
The story was also filled with useful tips that transfer to all sorts of scenarios, not just prostitution.
Frankly, I was charmed, the whole way, from start to finish.

I am not usually into too much of erotica, but this attracted me to want to read it.
Author Lantana Bleu created a storyline that kept me interested and had the right amount of all Spiceness needed. ;) I look forward to her future books.
