With her checkered past, Margaret Smith doesn’t expect that she’ll ever fall in love again. She’s happy as she is, surrounded by good friends, but she still sometimes wonders if there isn’t something more.
Career cowboy Wade Watkins loves nothing better than the wide-open spaces of the prairie, but when a chance encounter with a beautiful waitress sends her sprawling into the dirt, he begins to rethink his priorities.
One is coming to terms with her past. The other is looking for a door into his future.
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
We first met Margaret and her amazing journey in Abigail and Gabe’s romance. Now Margaret has another chance at finding love with a handsome cowboy who saves her from being run over by an out of control steer. Wade is a lifelong cowboy who has a habit of stepping in to save people, first Ruth from the unwanted attentions of the ranch foreman and now Margaret. Yet one is like a little sister and the other… well, he’d like to explore just what he and Margaret could be. But first he needs a job and the one that he takes will take him away from Kansas on a cattle drive for a few months. Anything can happen in a few months, and plenty certainly does. At the end of the trail is his forever home as long as Margaret will be there with him.
A Narrow Road is a funny, thoughtful look at choices and second chances. Margaret might have been content working at the Brody Hotel for years if one cowboy hadn’t caught her imagination. Their journey to a happy ever after has no true bumps along the way, only timing to be worked out. I had fun with this couple and would recommend A Narrow Road and the entire Kansas Crossings series to any Western Historical Romance reader who enjoys a continuous flow style of series, good stories, likable characters and realistic situations.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
An earlier book in this series introduced a character called Margaret Smith. She's been a secondary character in the proceeding books until now when she finally gets her story. Wade Watkins is a cowboy and not really looking for a relationship until he meets Margaret. The twists and turns are unique to this story and it is charming.
I loved the romance between Margaret and Wade! He was like the perfect cowboy... ❤️ and Margaret’s way of talking with him, be it her bluntness about her past, or her super flirty remarks when he got all cleaned up...loved it!
P.S. still waiting for Abigail to come back to Dr Wayment!
Story of redemption, second chances, wonderful friends, a busy hotel and wide open spaces. Excellent addition to the Kansas Crossroads series with sweet romance and comedy. For Audible users, this is an easy listen, the narrator made a fabulous story even better.
Margaret has moved on since her husband's death and she's happy working at the Brody Hotel. But will a handsome stranger peak her interest? Wade works at one of the ranches near town and is taken with the new waitress. Can he get to know her better? This is a clean, sweet romance. It was cute.
I really can't get enough of these books! I'm going to be lost when I finish them.I enjoy them so much and look forward to other books from this author!
Love these characters and hate to leave them.. I'm moving onto another series. I may decide to return for more of the books, but not now. Happy reading
This story is sweet. The characters are strong. Ottawa quick read on a cold and rainy day. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Another great book from Amelia Adams. I really enjoyed the story, the characters and how she brought it about. Amelia Adams has talent in writing stories and it shows.
I fell in love with the Kansas Crossroads series only a few pages into the first book. The characters are surprisingly well-rounded considering how short the books are and I find them all genuinely likeable. I've recently read some fiction and non-fiction about the Harvey House and Harvey Girls, I was struck right away by the similarities to the fictional hotel and restaurant, The Brody Hotel. The author did confirm that she based them on the Harvey House and Girls and it added an interesting layer of realism for me as I read the books. I definitely recommend all of the books in this series.
I've loved every book in this series. They are all so interesting. The mail order bride or as in this case a young couple meeting and falling in love innocently is refreshing. Can't wait for the next one.
I absolutely love this series. I love the second chance at love after a bad first marriage. I love the humor throughout this book and the sweet love story. Excellent read
Book 8 of the Kansas Crossroads Series by Amelia C. Adams. I'm now out of money on amazon... so the rest will have to wait till I can refill my account.
