Who is Piggy Pie Po? Just the smartest (maybe), messiest (probably), silliest (definitely) piggy you'll ever meet. In these three small and playful stories, he's sure to become every child's most unforgettable new friend.
Award-winning team Audrey and Don Wood's picture books have been loved by children and parents for more than twenty-five years. With perfect pacing and exuberant illustrations, Piggy Pie Po introduces a new character that will be embraced by the next generation of little ones.
Audrey Wood studied art and drama at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has owned an operated a book and import store, taught chldren's drama and art, and traveled throughout Mexico and Guatemala studying Indian folk art. She now lives in Hawaii with her talented family (husband Don and son Bruce, who have both collaborated with Audrey by illustrating some of her books).
bright and colorful, short sentences of rhyme. Some confusion as to the picture not relating to the text. Hmmm. Ok, so now I see there are three stories contained within this very short picture book. However, confusion with the big number three as the text reads..."at half past nine..." Maybe smaller chapter numbers or putting them on pages separate from the actually story...
Having two story time performers is great when sharing books. Each performer traded off reading one page, then the other.
Piggy Pie Po likes to dance (voice 1) When he wears his party pants. (voice 2) If he wears his rubber fins (voice 1) Piggy Pie Po swims and swims. (voice 2 as performer 1 leads group in swimming motions). When he wears his yellow coat (voice 1) Piggy Pie Po likes to boat. (voice 2 as performer 1 leads the group in singing the action song "Row, row, row your boat").
And so forth. We find that doing lots of actions helps keep the group focused (we'll often have fifty or more children attend) and action songs help keep the performance energized. By the way, the bigger the group, the better!
A silly book with colorful pictures for children to enjoy. Includes short sentences and rhyming words to children to follow along with. This is a book that a child should read to get a laugh. I know I love to laugh so young children do too. I think this is a great book for children that want to do just that.
This is why I like books by Audrey Wood and her son Don. This is such a silly, ridiculous book but it's so good you can't help but love it. My two-year-old got a kick out of reading this book and what a surprising ending (though a little odd)
Not my most favorite Wood book, but who can resist cute Piggy Pie Po? Three short rhyming stories combined in one book that younger children will enjoy. The best line? Piggy Pie Poe likes to dance when he wears his party pants.
I picked this book as a read aloud since it’s almost the Year of the Pig. It’s a silly rhyming text. The second graders enjoyed guessing what he would do, especially in the first story. Younger kids liked the pictures.
Perfect shenanigans for toddlers and PreK: three short stories about one silly piggy and his adventures on a boat, wearing a yellow coat, spelling, eating lemon pie, trying to tie his shoes, and more.
These three little stories about Piggy Pie Po are fun little stories: about the activities he does in different clothes, the things he can do, and snack time.
Three tales of Piggy Pi Po, and all the different things he can do, and how smart he is, and how he makes a pig of himself when goes to dine at half past nine.
Piggy Piggy Poe is a delightful book that’s sure to make you smile, with it’s fun and lively pictures that are sure to excite young readers. Piggy Pie Poe is a great light hearted book that’s packed with lots of giggles and laughs.
Alrighty. So I read this book cause it was dare that Emily and I did. It's a children's book and was only a couple sentences on each page. I guess it was fine, but I'd much rather read YA then a children's book.
Piggy Pie Poe loves to dance when he wears his party pants.
Solid. Fun and silly--both in story and illustrations. The rhyme scheme isn't exactly there--yep, like a true English major I wrote it out ABAB style and it's lacking a pattern--and there's a couple of awkward ones (pimpernel in a preschool book, huh?) but mostly I see a cute, cheerful, goofy book that'll work with preschool, kindergarten, and maybe 1st.
My 6-year-old loves this book and it's perfect for him to read. The rhyming sentences are short and simple and go along with the pictures. It has 3 short stories.
The 2nd story . . . "Piggy Pi Po is so smart, he can do the finest art. He can beat upon his drum while counting backwards, 10 to 1. Every book upon his shelf he can read all by himself. For a penny he will spell pistachio and pimpernel. But there's one thing he can't do . . . Piggy Pi Poe can't tie his shoe--yet!"
I enjoyed reading this book, it was an easy read. This pig does it all, from getting dressed, to dancing, eating, swimming, working, taking a bath, painting, counting, and even reading. I think that this would be a good book for younger children to read or be read to. I like how the pictures pretty much tells what the sentence is about on that page. I would be more than wiling to read this book to a kindergarten class.
