That's the Ticket 4⭐ Ernie and Wilma Bean’s lucky number has won the Christmas lottery. Trouble is, Wilma’s out of town and it’s tough to keep news like that to yourself for long.
Voices in the Coal Mine 3.5⭐ The story of a young couple, Mike and Laurie, who drive to a weekend house in the country that belonged to Mike’s grandmother. The trip is meant to help Laurie to recover from nightmares, depression and phobias. She has been seeing a psychiatrist who warned the husband to be very careful as she is fragile. She seems to be on the brink of remembering things that are linked to her own grandmother who mistreated and abused her emotionally as a child. When they arrive at the holiday house nothing is like he remembered it. It’s rather bleak and sad. When something happens that reminds Laurie of her childhood, she panics and then disappears.
That’s the Ticket - Ernie has a $2 million lottery ticket pinned to his shirt, waiting for his wife to come home from visiting her sister before Christmas. The problem is that he shoots his mouth off at the bar and Loretta, who offers him a ride home when he’s hammered, steals the ticket. When Ernie’s wife gets home, she is livid but figures out a way to get their ticket back. Just before Loretta’s husband gets home from work, Wilma and Ernie show up at her house. Wilma makes Ernie take his shirt off and shows Loretta that he has poison ivy on his chest, right where the ticket had been and Loretta has poison ivy on her hand. Wilma suggests that Loretta return the ticket or else she’ll tell Loretta’s husband that Loretta slept with Ernie. Since Loretta’s husband is extremely jealous, Loretta returns the ticket and makes Ernie put his shirt back on before her husband gets home.

Story one was fun and amusing about a couple who won 2 million in the lottery only to have the drunk husband blurt it out to the wrong person and lose the ticket and it's up to Wilma, the wife to bail husband Ernie out and save the day. Story two is sadder and not the greatest to be honest I can't remember much of it and it was only about 20 minutes long but Laurie is tortured by nightmares and swears she hears voices coming from the coal bin of her husband's childhood cabin. And things don't end very well for poor Laurie. Story one gets five stars but the second story lost the star for me, but still a quick easy listen and worth the time.
That's the Ticket! and Voices in the Coal Bin, Mary Higgins Clark, Talking Book-B, @ 1990, 6/2000. Ernie and Wilma Bean win the special lottery, but Wilma is out of town and Ernie cannot keep the news to himself, and the ticket is stolen. Voices in the Coal Bin, Nightmares and a country cabin. Okay.
