Ahl al-Sunna - The Ashʿaris: The Testimony & Proofs of the Scholars
n an age in which intra-Muslim religious argumentation dominates, heterodox groups have tried and had great success in presenting their beliefs as normative Islam to the average lay Muslim. أجمل ما قرأت في هذا الكتاب, هو اقتباسات العلماء الذين يذكرون أن أهل السنة والجماعة هم الفرقة الناجية, وهم السادة الأشاعرة والماتريدية وأهل الحديث,,

لا أحب في العادة الخوض في هذه الأمور, ولكن مؤخراً بدأت أرى نقاشات كثيرة حول هذا الموضوع, وكل يفسق ويبدع ويضلل الآخر, وكان هذا سبباً رئيسياً لقراءة هذا الكتاب,,
كانت أول صدمة لي حين علمت أن أصدقائي الذين درست معهم بعض العلوم في الأردن أشاعرة, وكنت أراهم ضالين, مثل الجهمية أو القدرية أو المعتزلة,,
فبحثت وبحثت, حتى وصلت ليقين داخلي أن الأشاعرة وأهل الحديث "السلفية" وجهان لعملة واحدة يؤمنون بنفس الشيء تقريباً ولكن بلغة مختلفة, وأن كلاهما من أهل السنة والجماعة,,
لم يرق رأيي للكثير من الناس, ولكن هذا الكتاب طمأنني بأن رأيت أن رأيي كان صحيحاً وأن هذا هو فعلا الواقع,,
فالكتاب, يبتدئ بذكر سيرة الإمام أبو الحسن الأشعري رحمة الله عليه, ثم يتحدث عن الشبه التي يتهمون الأشاعرة بها ولا أصل لها, ويبين حقيقة عقيدة الأشاعرة,,
كيف للأشاعرة أن يكونوا ضالين, ومبتدعين, وفيهم ومنهم أعداد هائلة من العلماء الذين ندرس كتبه, إن لم يكونوا أغلبهم!!
لماذا نسعى لطرد الناس من دائرة أهل السنة ونحاول الاستئثار بهذه الصفة؟
هل لها مقاعد محدودة نخشى أن تمتلئ بهم قبلنا؟
حقيقة, أنصح كل مهتم بموضوع السلفية والأشاعرة بقراءة هذا الكتاب, فإنه سيعرض أفكار العلماء الأجلاء بهم ويزيل بعض الشبهات التي يسعى بعض المتعصبين المغالين لغرسها في عقول الشباب,,

This book is a refutation of those who attempt to refute followers of the Ash'ari school of 'aqida (creed/theology) using many, many excerpts from classical and contemporary scholarly texts. It is similar to another book I've reviewed, Notions That Must Be Corrected by محمد بن علوي المالكي (Muhammad 'Alawi al-Maliki) in that it utilizes a lot of repetition to really "hammer the point home" for us. As such, numerous books and even some passages are reused multiple times, usually to emphasize different aspects of the affirmation of the validity of the Ash'ari school and/or refute its detractors.
Unlike that book, however, I eventually got into the rhythm of this one, perhaps since I am now used to the refutation style of Islamic texts. I really enjoyed reading it, even when the scholars repeated themselves, although ultimately that also caused me to give this one four stars. I debated giving it a full five, but then I realized that I did in fact read numerous pages that contained the same information. Indeed, the authors at the conclusion of the book claimed it could have been written in 25 pages, but that they decided to include more scholarly works to show the consensus of traditional Islamic scholars on these matters. It's a great way to refute someone, but it makes for slightly less interesting reading.
Still, check it out. While I cannot in good confidence say that this book is a classic, it is definitely worth having in one's collection.

محاوله جيده لعرض المذهب الاشعري والدفاع عنه
وبيان اصوله واعلامه والرد علي الشبهات التي اثارت حوله وحول امامه ابو الحسن الاشعري
وبيان ان التفويض والتاؤيل كانا طريقي السلف في المتشابهه والاخير ثابت عن حبر الامه وتلاميذه ومالك .. واخرين
قيمته باربعة نجوم لاني رايت فيه العمل القريب من الكمال الذي يعتمد علي الحقائق والبحث العلمي لا الادعاءات والافتراءات
وجزي الله المولفان خير الجزاء علي هذا العمل .. وهدي جميع المسلمون الي سبيل الرشاد

كتاب ضعيف.. وهذا رأيي فيه منذ قرأته، وكنت وقتها أميل إلى الأشاعرة في مسألة الأسماء والصفات

احترت كم أعطيه، ثلاث أم أربع نجوم؟
وقد قرأت منذ مدة جزءًا منه وأكملته اليوم
عُمومًا كتاب جيّد وهادئ وراقي كما عهدته على الباحثين من الأشاعرة .. ربًما كان يمكن أن يحسّنه أكثر.

Buku ini menjawab tuntas terhadap dua bentuk kekeliruan utama yang dilontarkan terhadap Imam Abu Hasan al-Ash'ari dan manhaj Asha'irah. Pertama mengenai tiga marhalah kononnya dilalui oleh Al-Imam, gurunya Abdullah bin Sa'id bin Kullab bukan mengikuti metodologi Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah sekaligus menyebabkan al-Imam meninggalkan marhalah keduanya dan akhirnya kitab al-Ibanah sebagai mewakili manhaj ketiganya.
Pengarang turut menjawab dengan tuntas terhadap kaedah ta'wil yang dianggap bercanggah dengan manhaj golongan salaf dan pada masa mengelirukan umum dengan menganggap kaedah tafwid yang diambil oleh golongan salaf seperti manhaj golongan literalis yang kontradiks sehingga boleh tergelincir dalam lubang tajsim.
Pembuktian yang diberikan oleh dua pengarang ini sudah cukup memperjelaskan kedudukan sebenar bukan saja kebenaran pada Imam Abu Hasan Al-Ash'ari dan ulama yang dikenali Asha'irah serta turut diambil kira adalah Maturidiah, bahkan mendedahkan realiti sebenar golongan yang menentang mereka.

كتاب ممتع للغاية في تعريف منهج أهل السُّنة والجماعة السادة الأشاعرة، وإمامهم الإمام أبي الحسن الأشعري، والسادة المَاتُريدية، وإمامهم الإمام أبي منصور المَاتُريدي. هذا الكتاب عبارة عن عرض جيد جدًا للمذهب الأشعري - في العقيدة - وبيان أصوله وأعلامه عبر القرون، وهو عبارة عن رد شافي كافي على كل الشبهات التي أُثيرَتْ حول المذهب الأشعري، وكذلك المذهب الماتريدي، وهما المذهبان الناطقان بعقيدة أهل السُّنة والجماعة، وهما السواد الأعظم في الأمة الإسلامية منذ أكثر من أحد عشر قرنًا من الزمان، وأن (السلفية الوهابية المعاصرة) ليست من أهل الحديث قطعًا، فأغلب مذهب أهل الحديث (مفوضة الحنابلة) على العقيدة الأشعرية، وبعضهم على العقيدة الأثرية/ الحديثية، وهي مشمولة تحت قولنا (المذهب الأشعري).

الكتاب جيد في مجمله لكن يعيبه تكرار بعض النقولات مما يُضعف مادته التي كانت من الممكن أن تكون أثرى ... بالإضافة أنّ بعض النقولات كان من الممكن الاستفادة لأن تكون فرصة للردّ على من تكلموا على أصحاب تلك النقولات! ولكان هذا ليكون في غاية اللطف والإفادة ... لكن مجملًا الكتاب يحقّق المقصود وهو إثبات أنّ الأشاعرة ليسوا فرقة مبتدعة ومارقة على هذا الدّين بل هم إمتداد لمنهج الصحابة والتابعين وتابيعهم ... وذلك من خلال إثبات مسلك التفويض ومسلك التأويل مسالك ارتضاها السلف الصالح رضوان الله عليهم...!

Excellent book. One may think that the amount of repetition of certain points is a negative aspect, but I believe it is there for the sake of emphasis. A must-read for the laymen.
