So saying goodbye to these characters were so hard and I just really loved them and now their adventures have ended and I'm really upset.

Okay so I will always ship Carden and Drew a little bit more than Ronan and Drew but I still really loved the book.

PLOT-
The plot was so good in this book like amazing!

ENDING-
I loved the ending and I was a little bit upset but it passed and it felt complete for me.

I enjoyed this series up until this last book and I'm so pissed. I don't know if it's Drew or just me or something but she is a terrible heroine!

Her throughts are all over the place and so annoying. I wanted to strangle her. And the ending was so abrupt, it seemed like even Veronica Wolff wanted it to end! The epilogue was cheesy.

AND SPOILER ALERT: I am so fucking pissed over who Annelise chose to be with. Ronan and Carden are both hotties but Carden stole my heart all the way. The way she chose Ronan left me dying.

Honestly, I am just way too discontent and unhappy over the way this series played out. Maybe my taste has changed or something because I seemed to thoroughly enjoy the previous books.

But regardless, I had to push myself from chapter one to reach the final page of this book and it was pure torture. Never going through that again, I'd rather just add it to my 'Did Not Finish' list.

I was so disconnected from this it's not even funny. It's been ages since I read book #4, and I couldn't even remember who was who. I kinda kept squinting and wondering whether or not I should care about a character or not, whether they were evil or not. And some I simply couldn't remember, so it wasn't a big deal when they were killed.

Because the author started introducing a lot of new stuff (new to me, at least) that I settled in for a bumpy and thrilling ride. But then everything was wrapped up so quickly that I deflated...

The book concluded well. Though I found everything specially the end rushed. I have waited for this book for last two years incessantly. So when the release was announced I was all over the moon. But every blue moment I spent in waiting after the previous book was somehow not justified. I had a MAJOR crush on Carden and he was easily one of the most swoon worthy male protagonists I have read. So it's no surprise I did not like the all around turn of events. The ending with Ann's mother was totally rushed.

However the series remains one of my favourite. Ergo, the 4 stars. I really needed Carden with Ann.

I have mixed emotions about this book. I waited so long for the conclusion that now it seems a bit anti-climactic. I'm also not sure about the whole love triangle thing. Carden & Ronan almost became different people in the last two books. I'm not sure if it was because we were seeing everything from Ana's perspective & they were like that all along or if they truly changed. Although I understand why things ended up the way they did I still wish things would have been different with Carden. Also, I feel cheated of the big reunion scene with the mother. Things felt very rushed towards the end. Well, at least I have closure now.

I really enjoyed this series. Expecally this book. Since Ann finial ended up with the guy I want her to be with. Yes! So happy. And the ending, it was just so sweet. Although it's kind of sad that she lost contact with her friends, but I'm sure if they want to, they will be able to see each other again someday. Anyways, with Ronan there, everything is a happy face for me XD

Reckoning was a little bit of a disappointment to the series. I did not find it as exciting as I hoped and I was very disappointed with the epilogue. I felt the book built up the story of Drew and mother only to have it very anti-climatic.

Initial Thoughts: This is the final book in the Watchers series and I feel that it wrapped up everything. Though I felt that the ending was a bit rushed and abrupt. I also felt the characters were a bit young for the HEA I felt at the end (I would have preferred a more HFN considering their ages) but it was satisfying. I would have liked a bit more in the epilogue but it was sufficient. I was happy to see that Ann finally matured and listened in the end. It was a fascinating ride and I will miss this wonderful world. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Nothing, repeat nothing, makes me happier when a beloved series finally gets its conclusion! And this really applies to the series that get canceled or waylaid due to whatever reason. And when Veronica asked me if I would like a review copy of this one, I couldn't type fast enough to respond! I LOOOOOVED The Watchers series! It's been almost three years since we last got to see everyone, so there was that hesitancy that comes with returning, but it wasn't long before I was back into everything. Sure I couldn't remember everyone or all the past events, but Annelise and Veronica are a marvel together at getting you back on track with where things are at and where they are about to go!

Reckoning is the long awaited final book in the The Watchers series by Veronica Wolff and it was definitely worth the wait! Annelise is keeping it a secret that she was the one to kill Dagursson, and it's definitely noted that he's missing. No one but Ronan knows what happened, and she can't even bring herself to tell Carden. It's a very dangerous secret, plus she still has the very powerful, very coveted weapon that killed him. Or Ronan does, but same thing! ;)

Ann is more determined than ever to leave the Isle of Night and find her mother who she now knows is alive, being held prisoner somewhere. Though Charlotte, Ronan's sister who is alive and very much a vampire is set to make her life miserable. She unleashes plenty of terrors all too soon, and promises to basically kill everyone Ann loves. But naturally, Ann won't let that happen.

Ann plans to use everything she's got to find her mother. She will rescue her from whatever hellish prison she's being held in. But naturally, a little trouble happens along the way, and even before her journey!

Reckoning was one action packed thrill ride! There's sooo many fight scenes, and pretty much since the beginning I have marveled at Ann's strength. She was more brain than brawn, but she has come a looong way! She's incredibly brave and even when she gets knocked down a hundred times, this girl gets back up again and again!! She's the perfect heroine to have in a YA novel, because she came from nothing (in a way) and while she was smart, she wasn't Buffy strong. But now, I'd say she could give Buffy a run for her money! Or they're at least on even footing! I've loved watching her character grow!

And I have loved the romance in this one! It's always kind of been in the background of whatever has been going on, which was awesome! While we've pretty much had a love triangle since the earlier days, I was always team Ronan! Probably because he came along first and yeah...swoon! But Carden is something else! He's a vampire, but he genuinely cares for Ann. He agrees to help her with her quest, despite having divided loyalties when it comes to her and the vampires. He's totally swoon-worthy as well! It has been an impossible challenge to figure out who Ann would choose in the end and I won't say a word about it anymore!

There's a bit of vampire politics in this one as well. Had I had time for a series re-read, I might have been able to follow it better. But since I didn't, I can say that it wasn't too hard to follow along. There's just a bit of history behind some of the leaders that I didn't quite grasp to fully understand what was happening in the moment. But regardless, I was pretty much able to follow along with the general gist of things!

Reckoning has everything one can want from a series finale, there's action, humor, sprinkles of romance, heartache, tears, and an ending that leaves you entirely satisfied with where the characters are at! I was happy with where everyone I cared about ended up. I probably had one lingering question as to one's character's fate, but I'm pretty much playing out that fate in my end...and it's well deserved!! LOL! Not telling anything about what I'm thinking either!

If you haven't read Veronica's Watchers series yet, well now is the time!! You can binge the entire thing without my painful wait that I suffered! And don't forget the novella, Dark Craving that was a bit of saving grace for me in between and plus, you get to get inside Ronan's head!! EEP!! I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this series and I can't recommend it enough to you all!

I almost felt like this part of the story was rushed but so much happened in such a short time. Things are not what they seem and Annelise is realizing this in quick succession as her world is turned upside down. This last book in Veronica Wolff's Watcher series gets all your questions answered and then some. The love triangle also gets resolved and we get our HEA that we wanted. The only letdown I feel is the mystery that is still Annelise' mother at the end of the book. I felt that after everything that we went through we didn't get the introduction, the reunion, the explanation of how it all went down for her mother and after her rescue etc... And even with this little flaw (for me) ...I still absolutely loved the book and the series as a whole is fantastic and one that I highly recommend.

This book and probably the other books are very cringy. I first read them when I was 16ish and man I remember them being kind of mediocre. These books are super angsty and it feeds into the, “Oh my god all the boys are in love with me is my entire personality,” trope. These books are very short and as deep as a puddle.

The first line of this book was, “You have changed my life. Given me hope.” His hand traced down my side, dipped into my waist. Stroked along my hip and down my thigh. “You are the light where there was only darkness.”

Excuse me while I puke.

While I think I have grown out of the target demographic of this book I still stand that it’s super cringy throughout and the main character is rather bland.

Thank god it’s the last book in the series and the vampire craze is long dead.

I personally was sadly disappointed by this book, I really had high hopes. I loved the entire Watcher series and had finished The Keep a few years ago, waiting for this book to be released but it kind of lost its momentum. I was excited when I finally got my hands on it. I read it over the course of a few days in hopes that something exciting would happen during but I feel like it was lacking something along the way. I stuck with I to follow the result of the past books cliffhanger but I was very sad with the ending. It felt like the author put little effort into the ending. I don't know, I'm sad but I will always love the Watcher Series.

Sometimes you read a series and the books just get boring or drag on. But not the watchers series! No, each book had its own sizzle. Each book had me wanting more. But, sometimes that happens then you get to the end and it pisses you off because its just not enough! But not this series! Nope! Veronica wolff brought out the humanity in a world of vampires. Found love that had enough fire to burn through ice cold hearts. The ending was just what I needed after that long battle! Annelise is my hero! By far my favorite book and just adore this series! All 6 books have a forever home on my book shelf!

*ARC received for an honest review

Spectacular finale, full of heart-stopping action and page melting romance. Veronica, with her conclusion of The Watchers series, has once again succeeded in taking her readers to a journey they will never want to return from.

Reading the final book of a series is bittersweet and you expect the right ending of the characters who have taken over your mind, heart and and what's left of your world. Veronica did just that and so much more!

"I think he must've sensed the rest, though, because by the time I had finished talking, he had a wicked glint in his eyes. "So, in your dream, I touched you?" I was used to wicked glints from Carden. But from Ronan? I was practically undone."

Reckoning continues from where ' The Keep' ended. Drew's ( Annelise) world is shaken by the knowledge that her mother is alive and the confusion of her feelings toward her Vampire, Carden and her protector and maybe the only friend she has, Ronan is not helping the situation. Ties get tethered, trust are broken and everything that once she believed was true becomes the opposite. Reckoning displays the gradual growth of Drew, a lost teenager from 'Isle of Night' to the determined strong warrior/ women she becomes at the end of the Watchers series. The humerous quirky monologues of Drew and the intense numerous scenes in the book leaves the reader with a belly-holding laughs and heartbroken tears.

"A gloved hand grabbed me as Carden shoved at my butt, and I toppled like a dead fish into the belly of the boat. A pair of eyes stared at me from beneath a wool fisherman's cap. "Can't say I won't be pleased to see your backside, lass." Did Tom the Draug Keeper just make a comment about my backside?"

Reckoning is definitely going to own its readers and leave them with a smile on their face while capturing a permanent place in their heart. And don't forget, If you don't forget, it also tells who Annelise ends up with.... the scottish vampire, Carden? or the mysterious intense seductive, Ronan? Which team you are on?

I believe a mike drop is warranted with RECKONING. If there ever was a book that went out in a blaze of glory, it was this one.

Everything finally comes to a head in this book, from Freya to Sonja, to Drew and Carden, and Drew and Ronan, to every little subplot that Wolff developed over the course of the series. All roads lead here. Drew makes turn after turn and ends up becoming the BAMFiest BAMF who ever BAMFed and finding what she was so lacking not only while at the Isle of Night but for nearly her whole life.

She finally makes a DECISION and I think you KNOW whom she’s going to choose. If you really think about it, you know. Or you’re in denial. Either or.

What I really liked best, though, was that Annelise finds out that she’s not alone. As the people who she cares about are picked off one by one over the course of the series, and Drew’s aloneness is solidified more and more, RECKONING comes in and is like NOPE. She finds out about a whole movement of people fed up with the Isle, a movement she never even thought existed outside of her own ideals to get the hell off that rock. And involving people she never imagined would get involved. People who have her back. Who won’t let her die. Who really are human. It was fantastic.

I think Wolff ended the story with Ronan’s sister, Charlotte, quite nicely too. It ends up being that defining moment of just how Drew can and will kill and it’s a fitting decision she makes. Fitting for the story, anyway.

And it’s a happy ending. It really is. For how much darkness the series had, and how much I did love it, the light at the end of this book was just was the non-vampire doctor ordered to round it all out. I can’t say enough good things about The Watchers series and Wolff did not let me down with the finale. I can’t wait to read them all again.

4.5

This was a really great and final book in The Watchers series. Annelise killing Vampire Dagursson and saving Ronan has caused chaos on the Isle of Night. Ronan's sister Charlotte has become a vampire and she has her sights set on Annelise because he loves her.

Annelise has really grown into her strength. She has learned so many things while on the Isle of Night but she just wants to be freed. She's bonded to Carden McCloud but her feelings for Ronan grow deeper. The ones she cares about are her weakness and she will do anything to save them. She found out that her mother is still alive and she wants to find her and save her. She thinks that possibly Emma is still alive and she might be able to bring Yas back from being a Draug. She comes to find out that women vampires really are the real power behind the world. And there's a war brewing between two vampire sisters. She will stop at nothing to save her mother from the vampires.

Ronan has been able to keep his inner feelings and thoughts to himself. He's wanted revenge on the vampires since his sisters' death but he finds out that she's not dead and she's become one of them. His love for Annalise is something he's kept hidden but his sister sees it. He figured he would die by one of the vampires but he wants a life with Annalise away from the island. He's a wonderful man that cares about others and wants to save everyone he can.

Definitely worth reading and I will miss The Watchers world.

A Tad Disappointed.

The novel and certain relationships within were like a synopsis of the book. No build up, and no feeling to it. Waiting these few years, I was hoping for something epic and it failed to live up to those expectations. I would still recommend the series and can't wait to see what Wolff writes next. Maybe a spinoff perhaps? There are many unanswered questions that can open up the option for it. The series was spectacular! The finale? Not as much.

Well, I've been waiting for this last book for what feels like forever. I'm so thankful that I was able to finish the series. I really have enjoyed the characters and the excitement. I would have liked a little more cohesive development and closing but all in all my little fan girl heart is so thrilled with the place all the characters are at the end.
