As the camping trip thankfully comes to a nice end, the drama continues back home. As Natsuo and Rui attempt to make the best out of their romantic situation, he makes a new friend with a foreign student who has his sights set on Rui. If that wasn’t enough, a shocking decision could change the family home and Natsuo’s romantic troubles as well as a surprising cliffhanger that really could change it all. B+ (83%/Very Good)
I have such a problem with Hina. Girl. What are you doing? You're chasing a 17 year old and you're like 23.
I don't necessarily think Hina is a predator, at least not in the sense that she's actively grooming Natsuo with nefarious intent. I think she's still reeling from her affair with a married man and her parents' divorce and Natsuo offers her a chance for an emotionally uncomplicated relationship in which she doesn't have to feel powerless. Hina doesn't need a boyfriend, she needs therapy. The problem, of course, is that she's dragging a teenager into her problems. Natsuo is already confused enough. He's never been in a relationship. He's barely had sex. Hina needs to leave Natsuo alone so he can fumble around and be confused with girls his own age.
Okay, I find Hina selfish. Really really selfish. She's acting like a kid instead of an adult. Come on, your little sister tells you about her feelings for him and you go and get involved? Way to be a good sister..
Rui is a cutie and I can't stand to see both Natsuo and Hina play her like this.
I have no respect for these people. Hina moves out because she, an adult, likes her new 17 year old stepbrother. She knows her sister Rui is into him. So what does she do? She tells Rui to basically be free and live her life (presumably with Natsuo), but then turns around and gives him a key to her new apartment so they can hook up. First off, she's a pedo. Second, she's a terrible sister. Third, she's disgusting and selfish (if you need more examples just look to her affair with that married douche).
My opinion of Natsuo isn't good either. He's got about four girls chasing after him and has a crush on his teacher / stepsister (Hina). So what does he do? He hooks up / makes them think he'll hook up with each of them. He's SO passive and feints innocence every time. He knows what he's doing, he's just hoping he won't have to face any consequences.
Rui is best girl, but she's too good for all of them.
Oh man, the drama is dialed up to 11. Our MC has about 5 girls in the mix right now so by the end he will have about 28 to chose from. I feel for Rui and the girl in the literature club (blanking on her name right now) They feel the most genuine and seeing them being played is sad. Hina and Rui are going to have a reckoning I feel later. This is over the top, campy, soap opera fuel but it does make for an entertaining read. Also, the boss of the cafe is hilarious.
Hmm... it is hard to overlook the grooming aspect of Hina's relationships. I guess she is *supposed* to be a flawed/weak character but it does stick out in this fluffy goofy rom-com thing.
It feels very early to be like, oh Rui is better than everyone else... but, y'know.
