* This is not a stand-alone Book 1 of the series (When The Chips Are Down) must be read first.
Carrie Maynard has come a long way from the awkward teenager who sat in front of the most popular boy in calculus class. She’s now a young, independent woman with a great job, a loving boyfriend, and a close knit family. But something still seems to missing. Jason Wilder is no longer the cute teenage boy that Carrie crushed on from high school. He is now a hardworking, handsome man and one of Carrie’s very best friends. He is the perfect guy just looking for his perfect girl. Uncertain that he’s actually found her in his girlfriend, Ashley, he goes through the motions, hoping she will fill the void Carrie has left in his heart, ever since the day they met back in high school. When circumstances change and feelings can no longer be ignored, will Carrie continue to sit on the sidelines, watching someone else live out the future with the boy she loved from so long ago, or will she take the next step with the man that’s always owned her heart? Sometimes taking a risk for love isn’t always easy. Sometimes even the strongest of friendships are put to the test. And…. Sometimes it’s easier to walk away when life takes us down a different path than the one our heart intended.
Ever since I can remember, I've always had a passion for Creative Writing. There's something special about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen--or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. Maybe it all started with the soap opera-level drama I used to script for my Barbie dolls. Plot twists, emotional arcs, surprise twins—it was basically a writer’s room before I even knew what one was. Whatever the spark, storytelling quickly became my favorite way to explore, create, and shake up reality just a little. I love stories that keep me on my toes. The kind that push me outside my comfort zone and introduce me to characters I either want to be friends with... or dramatically argue with in a fictional diner.
I love traveling to scout out new and exciting settings for my books—but nothing beats a peaceful walk in the woods or a seat by the ocean close to home. Turns out, plot twists and inspiration show up just fine with a sea breeze and squirrels.
After reading When the Chips Are Down I think my first question was when are Carrie and Jason getting their own book? Ok maybe I asked for Cam first but that is the next book in this series. But anyway I fell in love with the two of them. And even though they were friends only, I wanted them to be so much more. They are just so adorably cute together. Beth Rinyu not only gave me what I wanted by writing their story but she gave me everything I could have hoped for when it came to Carrie and Jason
Jason and Carrie have been friends since high school. Carrie was the awkward, smart teenager while Jason was the popular jock. But when they first met there was a connection between them. And together they have had the most amazing friendship. It’s the kind of friendship that you dream of having as a teenager, one that lasts forever. Jason and Carrie aren’t just friends, they are best friends. They are always there for each other no matter what. They find comfort in each other and can confide in each other about anything.
It is years later and they still have that special bond. Carrie is dating Jason’s best friend and Jason is back with his ex Ashley. Their significant others are honestly two people we really do not need to discuss. lol While I Loved Jason and Carrie as friends I wanted to know when they would finally realize that they were in love with each other. When was Jason going to dump his girlfriend and go after the only woman that he has ever truly loved? And when would Carrie realize that her current boyfriend was not her perfect guy, Jason was. Everything that they ever wanted was right in front of them but they just needed to figure it our for themselves. And when they do I could not have been happier. But you do wonder can it be that easy? Can two best friends just become lovers and everything is ok? Or will something come between them? Not going to say a word. Read this amazing story for yourself and see exactly what happens between Carrie and Jason.
Jason and Carrie are one of the cutest couples together. I always love a friends to lovers romance. It is one of my favorite. But these two just has something so special that I absolutely loved. They were best friends for so long. And I think everyone around them knew how they felt about each other except them. As the reader you could see how important they were to each other. Jason is one of those guys that is sweet and adorable and would do anything for Carrie. I loved him and I loved Arriver. So of course together they fit together like two perfect pieces of a puzzle. Once again Beth completely sucked me in from the beginning. I did not want to put this book down and was so sad when it was all over. I loved that we still got to see our favorite characters from book 1. This is a wonderful sweet story about two best friends who finally realize that they are more than just friends. Another amazing job by Ms. Rinyu. Now I cant wait for Cam and Gia's book
Carrie Maynard should have been thrilled with the direction her life was going. She was getting ready to start a new job, her boyfriend loved her, and she had wonderful family and friends. Except something was missing, her boyfriend moved for a new job and although they were trying a long distance relationship, something did not fit.
Jason Wilder best friend is Carrie, he has long held a rush on her but she belonged to another. Life has a way of plotting a different path for those willing to take it. When Carrie breaks up with her boyfriend, everything changes. Carrie has long denied her feelings for Jason and now they could have a chance, problem is Jason has a girlfriend.
Very entertaining. I liked that they were close friends before anything happened between them. They built something from a strong base, but they did have their fair share of problems along the way. It was not a perfect road for these two characters. Wonderful and just in time for Valentine reading.

4 "oreo" stars! I was waiting so much for Carrie and Jason's story. Guys, you were driving me crazy all along the story! I enjoyed it even if sometimes I wanted to shake them a little. It was about damn time! They were meant to be together even if they were so much in denial ... for years! Review to come.
Book two of the Three of The Kind series, Two of Hearts is Carrie (Melanie’s daughter) and Jason’s (Ben’s son) story. We met them as teenagers, with an incredible chemistry. The nerd and the most popular boy. Right back in high school then, we could sense that these two were more than friends but with their parents getting together, they didn’t want to ruin everything. A lot of unsaid things and hidden feelings, completely in denial, they became best friends with such a strong bond.
I wanted to read how the author was going to finally put them together … And I wasn’t disappointed, it was such a whirlwind of emotion, with a hint of humor and again some good feelings. A few years later, these two are still close … but involved with someone else.Damn frustrating! If you read the first book, you knew that they were meant to be.
As the years went by, their feelings grew stronger, their bond indestructible. Reading about how they felt without taking the step broke my heart, so much intense and passionate. Being with someone else, but feeling incomplete, they were truly happy together, when them could be real, showing their true colors.
They were trying so hard to forget about each other. Why did it felt so bad to be with someone else? Why after trying to move on, all you wanted was to be with another person?
Of course, there was more drama and at times, they both gave me whiplash, but the reading was so worth it. It took some time to really cross the line, and to be face the truth. The author wrote such a wonderful story from best friends to lovers, less heartlighted than the first one.
I enjoyed reading how they grew up and how they helped people in their job.Seeing again this great family, a few years later, warm my heart. I was attached to this noisy but so endearing crew, who were standing together no matter what.
The end? I loved the wink and I don’t think there would be another perfect ending for these two. “Two hearts believing in just one mind.”
I was so happy to be finally reading Jason and Carrie's story! I had nothing but good memories from the first book. I really, really like to read series books when all the books are done. Because I like to read onto the next book. When everything is still so fresh in my mind. March 2015 was when I read When The Chips Are Down (I was on the blog tour). I had to read my review again. And read the synopsis. To really refresh my memory. I still had a hard time remembering what went down in that book. But... slowly but surely everything started to click into place. And the story really started to flow for me. I remembered what the first book was about and who was who character wise.
This was a nice sweet story. This story takes place after Carrie graduates from college. She's moved back home taking on her first counseling job.
She has a boyfriend Brett. They have been together for about a year and a half. He's the total package. He has everything. But something keeps holding her back from fully letting go with him. Jason and Carrie were still close friends. Too close for some people. Jason girlfriend Ashley has always had a sore spot when it came to Carrie. She hated that Jason and Carrie were so close.
Everyone I felt knew they were perfect for each other. It's just Carrie and Jason had to open their eyes to see it. But as time went on... They were both fighting their attraction for each other. And it all clicked together.
A good chunk of the book was a lot of back and forth going on between Jason and Carrie. They were both in a relationship with other people that they both didn't even want to be in. I honestly and truly didn't get it. They wasted so much time. But... when they got there.. It was pretty nice.
A couple of things bothered me about Jason. I had a problem with how Jason yelled at Carrie when they were arguing. I always felt like they never fully hashed out the problem. It was more swept under the rug because something popped up or Carrie just forgave it. I was not feeling that. I wish Jason would have pursued Carrie a little more. Because I truly felt she was not at fault for any of the arguments. And... I would have liked a little more closure about Ashley. I felt like she would have been more trouble in the relationship between Jason and Carrie. I was expecting more of her crazy and up and down behavior.
Overall... I really did enjoy this story! I loved catching up with all these characters. I loved how this book was written and how it just flowed. I'm so looking forward to Cam and Gia's story next!

This is the third installment of the Three Of A Kind series. Books 1 and 2 must be read first. This book follows Gia and Cam. Gia and Cam have been friends since they were in diapers, as their mothers are best friends. They grew up together and are as close as two people can be. I love the way their story played out. Once again, the author has taken the full range of emotions and made a fantastic book. I laughed and cried with these characters. I cried more for Gia than I have for any of the other characters. She has had the roughest time throughout this series. And Cam has been there for her through it all. Cam and Gia are similar to Carrie and Jason in not wanting to ruin the bond they share. But when they let go, they are explosive together. I could not be happier for the way Gia’s story turned out. This is a definite must read series. These characters will make lasting impressions on your heart.
TATIA'S REVIEW 4 STARS
I love a good, easy read. A story with a little bit of fluff that keeps my attention. That's what I know I can get from Beth Rinyu and the stories that she writes. Now I'll be honest. I didn't actually read the blurb until after I said I wanted to read it, and for that, I'm glad. If I had read it before and saw that it said something about a stepbrother, I wouldn't have wanted to read it. Those types of stories have never appealed to me. I'm glad for all of it. I really enjoyed this story. It wasn't what I would typically think is the norm for a stepbrother romance. I liked the fact that they knew each other and were friends before their parents got married. Jason is a cop. He enjoys his job. Has great friends and a great family. His best friend also happens to be his step-sister, Carrie. They're the closest of friends. They know everything about each other. Well, everything except for one little secret. Carrie is just finishing school. She starts her new job as a counselor soon, has a great boyfriend, and the best friend anyone could ask for. She can read Jason like the back of her hand. When her boyfriend moves across the country for a job and wants her to go with him, she can't. Something is holding her back, she just can't pinpoint what. I can always guarantee that I'm going to enjoy any story by Ms. Rinyu. She has this way of creating these stories that I know I'm going to be able to lose myself in and escape reality, even if just for a little bit.
Carrie and Jason have been friends since High School when the shy nerd began tutoring the hot jock. And then they became step siblings and continued as friends. Years later, Carrie has recently returned home for her new job as a counselor so now they are able to spend more time together. They are best friends that have buried their feelings and they are both attached to others.
I adored Jason, her sweet, caring, protective friend who grew up to be a sexy, charming cop. Carrie was always the good, rule-following, loving girl. She did not always realize her true inner and outer beauty and her life was already at a crossroads. They had their chance in High School and decided to stay friends. They had both moved on with others. So neither really knew where their hearts truly stood.. They both had fears and insecurities that held them back. But they still had conflicting feelings of jealousy, confusion, and sometimes deeply buried hope.
There were some challenges to deal with and definite angst and frustrating situations. All along I wanted Carrie and Jason together, even during the times when I was disappointed in them or wanted to shake sense into them. I was glad it was told in dual points of view especially since they were not always forthcoming with their feelings. I enjoyed spending more with the characters we met in the first book: her mom, Melanie and his Dad, Ben, her twin Gia, "Aunt" Jodi and her son Cam. The dynamics between them all both add humor and support. Gia's story was teased a bit in this one. There was another side story line that added more depth and showed the importance of giving back.
This was a sweet, funny and heartfelt story of friendship, second chances, and soul mates. It was Carrie's journey towards finding where she belongs and who she belongs with and all of the challenges they face along the way.

Carrie Maynard is all grown up and returning home to start her career. She and her longtime boyfriend are at a crossroads though, and she has some decisions to make.
Jason Wilder has loved Carrie since high school, but has stepped aside for her happiness. Now they are best friends and he is glad she is finally back in town again, but his girlfriend is not as excited about Carrie’s return.
Two of Hearts contains a storyline that I typically shy away from. I am not a fan of step-sibling romances, but having met Jason and Carrie before they were step-siblings (and loving them then) I can ignore my feelings because I needed this story.
This also contained more drama than I usually like in a book. Both Jason and Carrie have significant others through a lot of the book. There were times I wished they would own up to the feelings between them and let their SOs go, because it wasn’t fair to anyone.
But I loved these two together: their history and the potential for their future, their friendship and the chemistry they fight to deny. They have a connection that has sparked since high school. Though they didn’t act on their feelings at the time in favor of maintaining their friendship, now that they are adults the feelings haven’t gone away, even as they continue to ignore them.
Teigan was a great new additional character. His drama made up for my occasional frustration with Carrie and Jason, and I loved the connection made at the end both for its circular nature and overall tie-in with Jason and Carrie. Gia is the only single girl left in the family, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us. We’ve met the man she is dating, but I know the man I’m rooting for, and it sure isn’t Jasper!

This is book 2 in the series and should not be read as a standalone
This is Carrie and Jason's book.
I gave this book 5 stars.
SO the story continues. . .
Will Carrie and Jason finally get their time to be a couple? I have been waiting for this book from the moment that Carrie and Jason met in book one.. They are just magnetic together even as friends... It is like they fit together perfectly..
Carrie is ready now to take her life to the next level now that she is out of school and starting a new job. . . Jason was so careful with their friendship and I believe is now ready to take the next step to being what he has wanted all along.
Come on this amazing journey of these two beautiful souls that so obviously belong together and feel the joy and happiness that life brings them..
This family is amazing and I wish they were real. . Thank you for bringing me into your world once again Beth. I cannot wait to read Gia's story..
We met Carrie in Book 1, she is one of Melanie's twin daughters. Now she is all grown up and has moved back from NYC to her home town to start a new job as a counsellor. Not only is her mum ecstatic of her move home, so is her best friend Jason - her step brother.
These two have a lot of history. They met when Carrie was a junior and just starting a new school. They have thought about being together but with him being her step brother, it is all wrong, right? Will it make a difference to how they feel?
This is a sweet story of friends to lovers with some heartache thrown in there too. Things are not always as they seem and dealing with ex's can be extremely stressful on a new relationship.
I cherished this second book in the series, it's got a bit of humor and plenty of charming moments to make this a quick and easy enjoyable book to spend the weekend with. I would recommend this book highly.

This story is a continuation of When The Chips Are Down. You have to read book 1 first or you will be completely lost. This story follows Carrie and Jason and their relationship. I loved the first book and so I was pretty sure I would love this one as well. The author’s writing style is amazing and I love that these books are told in multiple POV. This book happens several years after When The Chips Are Down and I am happy that I got to see how the relationship between Melanie and Ben progressed. It also has teasers as to how the third book will go. Carrie and Jason were destined to be together. They have been friends for years and both were hesitant to start something that might ruin the bond the share. It was beautiful to see how their relationship unfolds. They have a chemistry that most people long to experience. This story has the full range of emotions. One minute I was laughing and the next I was crying. This book has it all: drama, love, longing, humor, and jealousy. The story flowed seamlessly. A wonderful story for Carrie and Jason. Reviewed for FMR Book Grind
Carrie and Jason have had my attention since the first book in this series.
Carrie is at a point in her life where she's just starting her career and has just moved back home.
Jason finally had his best friend home. But as they spend time together feelings of friendship grow in to deeper and more powerful feeling. For them both.
People aren't who they seem to be and Carrie and Jason get the opportunity to see if these feelings can light the flame that they have burning between them.
As always new relationships are hard in the beginning. These two go through a lot but their love holds strong through it all or does it. Read t to find out!!
I would highly recommend this read or any of Beth Rinyu's books. She knows how to grab your attention and keep it till the very end. She writes with deep emotion and the characters show it.
I was given a authors copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Can I just say best Step Sibling Romance ever? This book wasn't written to be taboo or forbidden, and I loved it!
This book picks up 7 years after the first book in which Carrie's mom and Jason's dad met, they also met in that book. Carrie wanted Jason to be her first, but he refused to sleep with her because he wanted her in his life for more than just sex.
Seven years later, Carrie graduated college and has moved back to her home town to be a counselor even though her boyfriend of several years moved to California to work. Something was holding Carrie back and she wasn't willing to analyze what or who that was.
Jason is living his dream of being a cop and couldn't be happier that his best friend has moved back. He wants to spend more time with Carrie, even though it's difficult to hide his feelings for her and his girlfriend is constantly on his case about Carrie.

This is book #2 of the Three of a Kind series & should not be read as a standalone. I LOVE these characters! I loved When the Chips Are Down & couldn't wait to read more of Carrie, Jason, Gia, Mel & Ben!
This is Carrie's story. Things are looking up when Carrie moves back to town & is reunited with her bff & step-brother, Jason. This is NOT your typical step-brother book! He actually doesn't feel like one at all! I guess because in book 1, Carrie & Jason were dating & friends before their parents got married.
This book is a book of second chances. Both are dealing with exes that weren't right for them, fear of what everyone will say & a fight for a relationship that moved from friends to lovers. I loved it from beginning to end!!

I Loved "When the Chips are Down" and could not wait to see how Carrie and Gia's hopes and dreams would be fulfilled AND if it would be with the guys I wanted them to end up with. Carrie and Jason's journey to find each other was all I was hoping for - same Outstanding qualities of the first book - Laugh out loud funny, sweet, sexy, sad with some really unexpected twists in the plot that I did not expect ( at times just screaming at my poor kindle!) AND Melanie and Ben made me feel like I was home visiting with my family. Teigan and his problems were the perfect addition to the story and a great opportunity to see Carrie and Jason doing the jobs they were trained for. Can't wait for Gia to find her "soulmate"!
After reading When The Chips Are Down I couldn't wait to get my hands on Jason and Carrie's book! Two of Hearts was everything I expected and then some. This is a feel good, sweet, and humorous book. There's definitely some drama and angst thrown in as well. I for one have been pulling for Carrie and Jason's HEA since WTCAD. Without a doubt one of those epic friends to lovers books that we all love. I'm still not able to look at oreo's anymore without these two popping in my head. Grab and read Two of Hearts and you will be doing the same, guaranteed! Another exceptional 5 star read by Beth. I swear her writing just gets better and better with each book.
This book was about Jason and Carrie who won me over from Beth’s first book in this series, When the Chips are Down. I LOVED their story and couldn’t be happier with it. I also love the connection that the characters in this series have to the other characters and how you get attached to each of them. So, I am beyond excited to read about Gia's story when it comes out!!
Loved it. They had few bumps along the way but they made it through. I couldn’t stand Ashley. In the way holding up traffic. Lol Awesome read I’m ready for the next one.
Carrie Maynard left New York City and her twin sister to begin a new career as a counselor closer to where her mother lives. These major life changes come on the heels of her boyfriend’s cross-country move to California for his job. Her inability to immediately pack up and move with Brett has put a strain on their relationship, but the couple resolves to make it work since she hasn’t completely ruled out doing so in the future.
Jason Wilder, Carrie’s best friend since high school and newly minted stepbrother, becomes her pillar of support as she tries to convince herself that moving to California is the right thing to do. In his role as a local police officer, Jason refers a troubled young man on a self-destructive path to Carrie in hope that she can help the boy find a better path to follow before it’s too late.
Mutual concern for Teigan strengthens the already present bond between Carrie and Jason, much to the chagrin of Ashley, Jason’s workaholic, catty girlfriend. Ashley never hesitates to make sure Carrie understands her place in the pecking order of Jason’s attention and affection. When Carrie spies Ashley leaving another counselor’s office and finds her file in a pile on her desk shortly thereafter, she chooses to protect her career and maintain an air of professionalism by keeping a key piece of information confidential instead of revealing it to Jason.
When presented with the opportunity to attend a conference in Texas, Carrie reunites with Brett, who travels there so they can spend time together. She’s also subjected to his vile family, who are too snooty and jaded to fully accept the fact that Carrie is a big part of their son and brother’s life and may soon become a permanent fixture. But before her time there is up, a major bombshell is dropped when Brett admits to an indiscretion during their time apart. This solves Carrie’s dilemma over moving and also cements her feelings for the one man who’s always owned a piece of her heart.
Jason has loved Carrie for a long time, but stepped aside when she showed interest in Brett even though it hurt him to see her with another man. When Ashley’s antics become intolerable, Jason cuts his losses by cutting her loose. This leaves him free to finally begin a relationship with newly single Carrie. But the couple soon learns that even the deepest of loves can be challenged when it has to navigate the numerous obstacles and speedbumps life throws in its way.
This story had all of the heart, humor, and heat I’ve come to expect and love in a Beth Rinyu novel. She never fails to weave an emotional tale that strikes a few chords of familiarity with her realistic characters and natural dialogue. I’d wondered about Jason and Carrie’s backstories ever since they were introduced in When the Chips are Down, and Ms. Rinyu didn’t disappoint this reader with what she created for them. I loved this novel, and look forward to reading the next one in the series, which centers on Gia, Carrie’s twin sister.

I am truly loving this series! I love Jason and Carrie together; and the fun was watching all the angst waiting for both of them to get there. My great laugh out loud moment; when Carrie's Grandma told her to go home and put on the Jean Nate (okay, so I'm old enough to know what that is, and that I could be the grandma, lol)- Classic!!! Beth, please give us more of Olivia and Teigan, and I can hardly wait to dive into Gia and Cam's story. And a great big thank you to Kindle Unlimited!
