Addison Blake and Emma Bronson are headed away from the bright lights of Hollywood for the holidays. Emma is eager to take a step back and spend time with her family. The stress and demands of a television production have left Emma feeling fatigued and missing the quiet months she and Addison had spent after their daughter’s birth. Addison is battling her own demons. Holidays remind Addison of the mother she lost and the father that she struggles to connect with. Juggling parenthood, a career, and marriage have conjured a thousand questions in Addison’s mind. While Emma has sought time away, Addison has thrown herself into work. Once in Kansas with Emma’s family, the news of an unexpected tragedy will shake Addison and Emma’s world, putting the entire future of their television show Off Screen in jeopardy. Through laughter, loss, love, and tears, Addison and Emma seek to find a sense of balance in their lives. Confronting the past is sometimes the only way to pave the road for the future. Addy and Emma find themselves faced with decisions that will determine the life they will lead away from the red carpets and bright lights of Hollywood. Sometimes, the greatest stories exist OFF SCREEN.
This is an excellent series. The author has written a love story which began in Off Screen and has progressed to Intermission. I really enjoy J. A. Armstrong's work.
I love Addison and Emma's relationship and how much they love one another. I also can't help wanting it to continue and read more of their lives. It is also realistic in their own internal struggles with family and how that shapes us.
A very beautiful story... that perhaps is the final installment in Off Screen (there's no "continued in" at the end). If this is the case, I will miss Addy and Emma... a lot.
I am still enjoying the series but I didn’t love this novella. Baby Vicki is seven months old and Emma is fatigued and wants to spend more time with her. During a Christmas break visiting Emma’s family in Kansas tragic news comes that could put an end to their tv show. I don’t mind that some drama is thrown into the lives but I grew frustrated at Emma and Addy’s lack of communication. Half the time I was trying to read between the lines to figure out what one or the other is trying to say. It is all compounded by Addy’s estrangement from her father. Of course I’ve already got the next book on my device ready to be read and hoping I enjoy it more.
Most of this story I read it thinking that I'd probably give this closer to 3 stars than anything else. There were certain moments that annoyed me, a certain lack of communication (though I jumped the gun, somewhat, with my irritation there), a certain overly emotional set of circumstances, and then two sex scenes that I was rather not in the mood for.
Everything else, though, the family, the show, 'stuff', was good enough to pull everything together. To make this another good short work in the series. The sixth in this particular run. My, I believe, 13th tale that I've read by Armstrong.
I close with two thoughts - I notice this story is titled 'Intermission', and that implies certain things; while at the same time this story doesn't end with some comment about the story continuing next in 'insert title of story here' or any other indication of continuation. I know By Design has at least one more story, since that one ended with a 'continued in' comment, and think I saw the same at the end of the second story in Special Delivery, but this might be the closing chapter in Off Screen. Is sad, that.
As always, J.A. has a great way of drawing you right into the story. It never gets boring and it keeps me begging for more. Every book manage to tug at my heart strings. Again absolutely perfect.
This sixth installment of the story of Emma and Addison is an amazing look at the trials and tribulations that face any couple. The storyline flows from the pages and right into your heart. Self-doubts, tragic loss, and outside pressure can test any relationship. The key lies in keeping the lines of communication open at the worst of times. These women are the epitome of resilience. They could teach a lot of people many valuable lessons. Be sure to add this book, this series, to your must-read list.
This is the 6th book in the "Off Screen" romance series. I have totally enjoyed this series. Characters are so well developed and so real. Sometimes when you read other series written by other authors, you feel like a story drives the characters;but Ms. Armstrong's series feel like the characters drive the story. The characters are the story. You can believe that the story actually can happen. I only wish that Ms. Armstrong continues adding to each book in her series so that the characters continue to live. I highly recommend this book as well as any of her other books.
This is a really great transition piece in the lives of Emma and Addy as they try to balance their lives on screen and off with their little sprout Vicky. Intermission is a heartfelt story at Christmas time full of love, loss, doubt, emotion and family. JA creates such relatable characters that I would choose to be friends with. Readers do yourself a big favor and read this series. It will bring such joy to your hearts!
I have to accept that I’m obsessed with the series, but not only this one. Love the books and the series(all of them). Emma & Addy their life in the spot light and Off Screen as Emma said “is more important “. Love the dynamics and the chemistry. Now to the next chapter.
4 stars. Wasn't my favorite in the series as I found that the plot wasn't that strong but I did absolutely love the moment between Addy and her father. Really tugged at my heartstrings. I continue to love Addy and Emma and their little family so much and while I didn't love the plot of this one I'm glad to have gotten back to these lovely characters.
HIT THAT KEEPS ON.😍 I was brought to tears 😢 when Addison read the card from her father, though I believe that it was something long overdue. Great way to evolve into the chapter of their lives. Would to hear more about Tamara and Christie; in the remaining 2 books.
Life continues for Addison and Emma. Love is abundant, family is imperative. JA Armstrong brings the the love flowing off the pages. This is a great series. I will continue to visit it in the future.
I've never been brought to tears by a book. However that changed reading this book. Intermission was a beautiful love letter to two characters that I have come to love reading about. I look forward to reading this book over and over again.
I'm sorry to see this series come to a close. Every book got better and better. I realize that Em and Addy's relationship was developing to the point where they would have wanted to expand their family. You did a great series development. Very well done.
This is a great book and a great ending to a wonderful love story. Read this one, don't miss out on that as Armstrong writes beautiful lesbian romance but any one regardless of gender can enjoy this story. A perfect ending!
This book had me in tears, both from laughter and from sorrow. I understand Addy's insecurities, because even after 16+ years together I still struggle to understand why my wife loves me, and I can't conceive of life without her.
