Her. Memories are jewels of the privileged. I don’t know the good times or the bad. I only know the here and now. My surroundings bear no resemblance to me. He swore a hundred times he knows nothing of my past. Can I trust him? How did I get here? More importantly, where did I come from? I need answers. I need to find home.
Him. My life has been turned upside down since that day I found her in the snowy woods. I don’t know where she came from, but I do know she came into my life for a reason. She is a good woman, fit to be a decent mother to my three boys. The cabin is brighter since she got here. I want her to stay.
Q & A with Author Blue Davis
Where does the story take place? The story mostly takes place in Lapland, Sweden. This is a mountainous area of Northern Sweden. It is home to the Ice Hotel and Northern Lights. It is arctic, Nordic, and close to the North Pole. It is home to indigenous Scandinavians.
Why Sweden? I think it’s interesting to have a black American girl wake up in a place that is so far from home that there is not a single person there that looks like her or knows where she came from. She has amnesia in a big way. There is a major contrast between the way she looks and the way these bright blond-haired people look, and she searches endlessly to find out the reason why she has ended up there. This is a good examination of whether love between a black woman and a white man can transcend race and culture. If you woke up tomorrow and had no past, would you still choose the same or similar partner? This is not your everyday interracial BWWM story. It takes a closer look at the phenomenon of love. How can two people from two different sides of the world fall in love?
Is this a series or stand-alone? This is a fast-paced, suspenseful stand-alone novella. I don’t plan on making it a series, but I never say never!
What’s the steam-level? All the way. It’s super-hot in some scenes, and underlying sexual tension in others.
Why is this book free? To give people a taste of some of my work. My hope is that you keep coming back for more.
I write contemporary romance, usually with a strong black female in the lead role.
I'm out of L.A, but I've been travelling all over the world, and living in different places all my life. It shows in my writing...my main character is always on a journey somewhere out in the world.
I send 10% of all book sales to a shelter for abused women in Los Angeles county.
Thanks for checking me out & I hope you enjoy my books!
Truly these two characters in the story created serendipity. I don't want to give anything away but we have to people who ordinarily would not have met each other meet. In an unusual way. But their love for each other is timeless. I'm not giving anything away by saying she has amnesia and he is a bit delusional and I'm gonna leave it right there. I just wished it was a longer story. I guess part of the appeal is that it is short and to the point. For me it was a page turner I started the book late evening and finished it the next morning. The female lead is a strong woman and for this it was appealing to me. This is an interracial romance and I recommend this book to you. <3<3 <3
3.0⭐️ This was a great, engaging story about a black woman who finds herself in Sweden with absolutely no memory. Jens finds her, takes her to his home. He has 3 sons who grow to love her, just as Jens has. Since she doesn’t know her name Jens calls her Buttercup, his favorite flower. I appreciated the vivid descriptions of the landscape, and I could actually imagine the cold, freezing weather. The story is shrouded with mystery about the events that led to Buttercup’s total memory loss and this fueled the story.
I think the book could have added a little more substance to the story, especially how her life with Jens and the boys progressed and how their feelings grew. That part of the book was not fully explored. Additionally, the ending was a little too pat and ended much too abruptly. this too could have been expanded somewhat. For inquiring minds, there was one sex scene, but it really wasn’t explicit and there was more kissing than the actual act Itself. I would have preferred more, but that’s just my preference.
All in all, this was a decent read; however, there were quite a few editing issues, e.g., heals was used instead of heels. Based on the editing problems I observed coupled with my foregoing impressions, I am giving this book 3⭐️⭐️. The author is new to me, and I will read something else written by her because I can see more potential.
This book was definitely different. The hero Jens) was a times a little strange, but I liked him. He had went through a lot in the last several years (I don't want to give anything away). However once he found heroine (Alexa aka "Buttercup") he knew he found someone that would fulfill his and his son’s life, but how could he get her to stay when she was hell bent on finding out who she was.
Buttercup; as Jens had named her, wanted to know who she was, however she kept feeling the pull of Jens and his sons. Even though she didn't know why she ended up on the other side of the world, she felt at home.
I think the author did a great job with this story. I didn't want to give too much away, but I know that other readers would enjoy this book because it's not about money and it's not about sex, but it is about the human heart and what we really need to make us feel content and happy in our lives.
This story was definitely captivating. It took me a while to realize that Jen didn’t have nefarious intentions; he was just a desperate man acting selfishly. Jen and Buttercup both dealt with pain and trauma the same way. It took finding and loving each other to heal their hearts and minds.
As a short read, this was a good book. It would seem that Jens had issues and ulterior motives from the jump, poor Buttercup was confused and just trying to remember who she was.
