Recruited by the best when he tried to hack into the MC and got the shit kicked out of him, his life has been behind the computer for them. He’s been with the Brotherhood since he was seventeen, he learned what taking care of their own means, he learned what seeing everyone for what they contribute means, he learned what kind of man he wants to be and he excelled at getting there. As a valued part of the MC, the head of High Security IT, he’s trained with his Brothers for everything; everything except Penny.
Digs can’t say no, when the MC asks you to do something the only answer is ‘when do I start.’ He likes his body parts right where they are so he takes the order to move closer to the crazy Brothers without complaint. He likes breathing so he takes the new job offer/order without resistance. With the threat of dying in his sleep or another Brother staying with Penny, he does that too. After one date, that turns his bike into a pile of parts, he is moved into Penny’s house to watch over her and keep her safe from her stalking ex.
Keeping Penny safe from her ex is no problem for the new High Security Officer. Keeping her safe from him is another story. Digs dark thoughts of rough sex, rope play and a dirty mouth keep him on edge with his not so innocent Penny.
Penny was brutally abused by her ex, she’s been away from him and safe in the MC backyard for years. He still tries to get at her but the MC’s new tracking program and her cover in Officer protection keeps him from getting close. It’s time for her to start a new life and go on a date, she had no idea it would turn out to be the date that never ends. Plagued by thoughts of Digs owning her Penny has her work cut out for her just to reach normal. Learning how to function as a couple, but not owned, is a trying and stressful experience. Can she do it before she pushes him away?

L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference.
The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly.
That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal.
L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers.
With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud.
Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet

another really, really fine mc soap opera about righteous men and women with protective instincts and courage. can't wait for the next one! lots o f raw sex, tender sex, sarcasm, violence but all of it about protecting their families, saving kids from traffickers and their ongoing problems with greedy 1%ers....this story involves a badly abused woman claimed by an IT specialist with some badass skills. they come in very, very handy when he's targeted by enemies. there's a spy in the club house to boot. several shoot outs, 2 kidnappings....exciting with a hea for the lovers. Liked it enough to re-read it a third time in april, 2017. Liked it enough to read it again in September, 2018! Revisited during covid pandemic, August, 2029. comforting to me.

Re-read the entire MC and Protectors series between June and August. I love her storytelling and characters but sometimes the prose (and particularly the conversations) is a little dense and hard to get through. But I'm back again because the guys, the gals, the kids are all SO GREAT! If you bought this a while ago and are just reading it, download a new copy from Amazon because I think a lot of them have been updated on the editing front. I've read this one three times now. I do enjoy reading the entire series through; it helps to not get lost with all the MC characters, Baxter characters, and kids, lots and lots of kids!

Good story but not really a stand alone because so many characters are from the previous books in this series and the Baxters' series. Since I have read everything by this author except for Jake's book, I was only lost a bit about Jake and his girlfriend. Instant love but sweet and sexy. The editing is *SO* much better than earlier books!

***Rereading now that I just finished Jake.*** Second read was much better for me since I had read Jake's book and didn't get lost in parts. 2nd read done 6-29-16

Loved it

This author does not disappoint. Her books grab my attention from the first chapter until the very end. Only complaint is I never want them to end. She always has a heroine overcome awesome odds and a bada** sweetheart only care about helping her succeed in getting happy. If only there were men like that around. Love this story.

Each book gets better and better. Seeing how Digs and Penny navigate their story while watching how more of the past storylines continue was great! Another hot MC read; can't wait for the next one!

Brilliant

I swear this series is getting better the books that are written. Although each has its own story for the characters I actually like the fact that there is a running story for the MC
MC fans you won't be disappointed with this series

Wesley Michael "Digs" Brighton - MC tech whiz whose job now is to track and follow the "flesh peddlers" the MC is trying to take down, has been on 3 dates in his life and never got to the 2nd date, meets Penny when he goes to fix her computer and "electricity" starts between them

Penny - abuse survivor, runs a t-shirt business in the MC "yard," is ready to start dating again

Jake - works for Baxter Security (BS) and was first to date Penny

Lenny - Penny's ex-psycho lawyer husband
----------
Digs is sent to Penny's store to work on her computer. When they touch they both share a strange jolt. Penny thinks it has something to do with the computer cords. When it happens again she knows it's something more than an electrical shock. Digs knows the same but he is kind of leery since he doesn't date AND the 3 dates he has been on didn't make it to date #2.

He asks Penny out and it is suggested that they go to the Seafood Shack, dressier than McDonalds but not dressy like a restaurant. He's nervous and is told to ask for a "Patches List" so he doesn't goof it up.

Using Patches list to his advantage, he and Penny have a great 1st date. Everything is going well for their relationship until her ex, Lenny, tries to run them down at the Bakery. as Digs bike ends up under Lenny's car Digs is protecting Penny. Digs ends up pulling Lenny out of his vehicle and letting Lenny know how unhappy he is with him.

This event leads Danny to tell Digs he needs to stay with Penny for her protection. Digs wants to go back home and Danny lets him know he will get a Prospect to stay with her then. Digs realizes he wants to be the one protecting her, he doesn't want any other man near her.

And their story begins . . . .

I loved this book but it wasn't as strong as some of the others in the 2 series's that involved in the major storyline. I wish we could give 1/2 stars as its not far of. The characters are all developing but I didn't think that our 2 main characters in this book were quite as strong but still nessasary to the bigger picture. Not all characters can be as interesting but variety makes it all work so well. This is my opinion but others may love these characters better. At the end of the day it was still a great read and continues the saga.

Another great one!!! Penny's story is heartbreaking. Dig's is hilarious with his trying to figure out what to do with her. Thank God for Patches and his lists or these men would be completely clueless....lol. Who knew Digs was such a badass??? We only ever heard him over the feeds and helping out along with all his computer work. 2 very disappointing Brothers....damn!!!! Geek's story next should be interesting but heartbreaking I'm sure.

Romance is still alive and well in the MM

I just so enjoyed Dogs and Penny's story. It is amazing that a big bad biker can be so caring and giving and that a young woman that survived the he'll Of my went through could love again. This is a wonderful story. I really enjoy reading about strong alpha bikers and their lovely women will cores of steel. Highly recommend this book and this whole series. On to the next.

As I go through this author’s titles, they just keep getting better and better. In this book, I didn’t see some of the unnecessary detail and repetitiveness that I’ve gotten in others. I loved this story and the characters. I couldn’t put it down.

I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated

I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).

I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)

My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.

The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.

Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale

Great Story

This story runs parallel to Jake's. No heavy crossover, so if you haven't read Jake you won't be lost.
Digs has hidden talents. He's not just a kick ass IT guy. Dig's is head of HS IT and works directly under Geek. He likes being in the background and staying out of the officers way.
Penny came to the yard a few years ago. She escaped an abusive marriage, but her ex still stalks her, so she seldom leaves the yard. Best friends with Tess. When Tess points her in Jakes direction, she gets her feet wet in the dating scene. When Digs comes to her shop to help with a computer problem, thing's just click.
Threats to Penny has Denny moving Digs in with her. His ability in protecting her had him moving away from the boards and running HS as Danny's partner. He proves his worth running HS and on site IT, on a mission.
Tess and the officers have him and Penny as the next to marry. Digs isn't so sure. The only thing he is sure of is that he doesn't want any other brother protecting her.
Once again they are faced with betrayal from the inner ranks. The Outlaws are giving them trouble. There are a few dirty politicians making some noise. Digs is a target, putting Penny in danger. Penny is made of steel and takes it in stride. Her ex haunts her, and loving Digs is easy, trusting he will keep her safe, a given, the hard part is will he change like her ex once he owns her.
Loved Penny and Digs story.
Little Ben, Jessie, Darren and the older little brothers are taking on more adult rolls, and training the younger to follow in their foot steps. Love watching them grow up and becoming even better versions of their father's.

Absolutely a delight!!!

I absolutely loved Digs and Penny's story. I love how everything was planned for them before the first date! The Penny story was hard to get through just because of the logistics. The aftermath though and character development is awesome! Love the progression of the story and how storylines find their natural end. I am so happy that there is another book! Great series, great characters and great storylines!!
