April Willis is walking to school when someone in a white van tries to snatch her from the street.
It’s the second attack in less than a week and, with parents and students beginning to panic, it’s down to Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel to find the culprit.
This short story takes place between the Jessica Daniel novels Playing With Fire and Thicker Than Water.

When he's short of ideas, he rides his bike, hikes up something, or bakes cakes. When he's not, he writes it all down.
Short story, belonging to a series about a female police officer from Manchester. I enjoyed the British accents of the audio book, the story was rather meh. Not very exciting. Doesn't compel me to have a closer look at the series.
This super short novella has Jessica investigating the attempted abduction of a thirteen year old girl, the 2nd such attempt in the same area over a short time period. It was good to see Jessica, and I enjoyed reading the novella, but the length didn't allow for a nicely developed story the way a full length one does.
A short story in the Jessica Daniels series. It may have been short, but it gave a real feel for characters and it was pretty good. The narrator was brilliant, with an excellent British accent.
A great short story for Jessica fans. A very easy quick but interesting read. This short story was originally in the Morrisons-exclusive paperback of Behind Closed Doors two years ago. This is the first time it's appeared as an ebook.
This was a really short, quick read but I did enjoy it. I have been working my way through the Jessica Daniels series and this booked added a depth to her character - 4 stars from me
"April" is one of the novels from Jessica Daniel series by UK author Kerry Wilkinson. Kerry Wilkinson was announced one of the Amazon's top 10 best selling UK-born authors worldwide. Kerry's Jessica Daniel series is crime fiction series featuring Detective Inspector Jessica Daniels set in and around Manchester. In this particular short story "April", there is an attempted kidnapping of a school girl, second attack, panic around it. The end is quite counter intuitive, which makes it a good read. The same analogy can be applied to multiple real life scenarios as well. Also, this could be a great script for a short movie.
I listened to the audiotape of this book. The reader was an amazing reader. I enjoyed the book and was sorry that it was only a short story. Would have loved it to have been a full novel. Will be looking for more books by Jessica Daniel
This short novella is just seventeen pages long. It's part of the Jessica Daniel's series. Jessica is investigating the attempted abduction of a thirteen-year-old girl. The second time someone has attempted an abduction in the same area. Sn enjoyable novella.
April is a short story and is set for those familiar with Kerry's Jessica Daniel's series between Playing with Fire (#5) and Thicker Than Water (#6).
Without giving too much away, it is a short story about April and her walk to school one morning. A story of every parent's worst nightmare.
Or is it?
I read this on my commute home one evening and can be read in about 20 minutes or so, (depending on how quick you read obviously). It is a good short story and an interesting insight into a bit more of Jessica and her work.
Look forward to reading more short stories by Kerry.
Quick 20 minute read which gives us a little look into one of Jessica Daniel's smaller cases. No murders or embezzlement here, but still plenty to get your teeth into.
I like these short stories and I would like to see Wilkinson produce more of them as little interludes between full length books.
Worth the 99p investment if you are looking for something to pass a few spare minutes.
This is a lovely short story in the Jessica Daniels series..... now I'm hoping kerry Wilkinson will do more of these .... the way he writes it's a pleasure to read...I'm looking forward to his next book
Although the storyline had a good deal of merit, I felt it lacked depth of the characters involved and the ending seems to come to an abrupt end without a proper resolution. You could use the same ending with more depth and understanding of why they came to that decision.
