Roommates

Rate this book
Fresh out of college--and stuck in an unsatisfying job--Tristan quits and pursues another dream: illustrating. Only pursing dreams doesn't pay rent and his parents are less than enthusiastic with his life choices.
Left with no choice, Tristan places an ad for a roommate and gets more than he bargained for when Canadian wanderlust (and total hottie) Noah shows up ready to move in.
With Noah’s openness and love for adventure, Tristan finds himself questioning what he’s done with his life—and not just in terms of his career. Could he really be attracted to Noah or is Noah just something new in Tristan’s stale life?

A quick read meant for entertainment purposes only. Intended for mature 18+ audiences.

After reading and loving Harper's "The Roommate Study", I was thrilled to see that his/her (?) other stories were all available for *FREE* with Kindle Unlimited,. Score!

At 23, Tristan had graduated college, worked a job in finance for a Fortune 500 company for 13 whole months, then promptly decided he should quit to pursue his passion. Illustration.

Upon retiring to Florida, Tristan's parents left him to live rent-free in their NYC brownstone, for a time, then their patience with their unemployed, "finding himself" son waned and they decided that he needed to start paying rent.

The discounted rent wasn't that much, though, so Tristan decided to get a roommate and let *him* pay the rent, instead. Side Hustle 101, right?

Enter Noah, a Canadian world-traveler, also around Tristan's age, in New York for 3 more months and in search of an apartment.

During their first 2 months as roommates, Noah pulled Tristan all over the city, introducing him to experiences he'd never taken time to enjoy, and Tristan finally felt truly alive.

Until it all changed, when Tristan, on a whim, asked Noah to pose for a drawing to help bolster his illustration portfolio.

NUDE.

Okay, hot, Hot, HAWT.
I loved that setup and would've read the book for that scene alone, but I digress.

One thing led to another, then the next thing you know, Tristan was feeling his first genuine connection to anyone, man or woman.

Although it's never specified, I got the feeling that Tristan might have been demisexual, leaning heavily toward gay, with Noah being bisexual.

The story was a fairly sexy one, not fading to black or anything like that, so if you're looking for steam, that'd be a few points in this book's favor.

The main drama arose from only one of the guys divulging his feelings, leading to a ton of self-doubt and hurt feelings, and one Small Misunderstanding, resulting in a short separation, followed by reconciliation, and an HEA in the syrupy-sweet epilogue.

My one big niggle with the story was Ava, Tristan's longtime best friend. I swear to God, she acted like his freaking wife when she was around. The thought of which suited her just fine. But I wanted her to fall into an open manhole cover and disappear entirely. Sorry, hated it. :- P

While I liked this story quite a bit, there was a lot of it the felt really, I don't know, fluffy? Low on substance?

I mean, in the epilogue, from some time down the road, Tristan hadn't even known that Noah had three sisters! Shit like that comes up when you have *real* conversations with the person that you love, right?

I'd rate the story at around 3.5 stars and maybe suggest trying "The Roommate Study" first, then move on to this book.

This is a cute story about a guy that has an unsatisfying life. Tristan quits the job he hates to be an illustrator because that's his passion, however being unemployed is killing the bank account so he puts an ad out for a roommate. Enter Noah. Noah barrels into Tristan's life like a tornado making his presence felt everywhere. Tristan is pretty oblivious to romantic gestures, he has a best friend who has been in love with him forever, and he doesn't see any of Noah's signs either as their friendship progresses. Noah and Tristan develop a relationship but Noah is an adventurer and Tristan knew he would only be around for three months when he moved in. No one expected to fall in love. The story is cute I mean It's nothing we all haven't read before but it flows nicely, no angst, sweet, sexy in spots, and has a nice HEA.

I thought this was just going to be a quick dirty read. I had "Straight Guys" series by Alessandra Hazard in my head. But nope I couldn't be more wrong. This is all about learning new thing and live life to its fullest. Noah made Tristan get out of the house and LIVE. Tristan taught Noah how to LOVE. The only down fall is that this book is only from Tristan's POV.

More like 2.5 to me. It felt too much like instalove and that’s one of my pet peeves about books. Everything seemed rushed to me. Tristan was too ok with being attracted to his roommate, he had anal sex the first time they hooked up and that just seemed way too fast for me. I mean, the guy didn’t even know he was bisexual but he was ok with bottom the first time they kissed?! Not very realistic to me.

Not too mention he said ILY after one month together. Anyways, not my cup of tea.

I read this through KU. I'm pretty new to MM romances but the author of this book really has a talent for putting the reader into the story. There are some steamy love scenes so you might want to steer clear if that's not your thing. For me this book was exceptional because it made me feel right along with Tristan. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because there were some grammar issues- some awkward phrasing- here and there that made have to re-read parts to understand them.
