BEWARE – This bk was previously titled Heart of Steel. There was no mention of that when I bought this one. The whole time I’m reading this I knew I’d read this same story/plot before. Searched my kindle inventory, but no other bk by this title and I knew Kindle would’ve let me know when I purchased it if I already had it in my library. Come to find out story is a re-do from a previously released bk – Heart of Steel that I’d read in 2012 with a new title, new cover and updated references. Pissed me off! I didn’t care for Men of Steel when I bought it in 2012 (too harlequin like) and didn’t appreciate the lack of warning on Goodreads or Amazon in the bk blurb that it was a previously released bk. Returned it for refund.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

This is a score sheet review. For the full review with the scores please visit MBR's Realm of Romance

Score Sheet Summary:

Logan Grant is the owner of L&G Brokerage, one of the most successful companies in the city. Chandler Santell is the owner of Yoga and Arts Center which she needs to take drastic measures in order to save and that includes going to Logan and risking it all on a deal that could go either way for her.

Chandler is a woman who has been burnt and burnt badly by those she should have been able to trust most. And understandably she is skittish when it comes to passion and feeling too much. But that is exactly what she cannot shy away from when it comes to Logan and his devastating sexuality together with that connection that is forged between these two people who are quite different from one another.

Logan finds his fascination with Chandler an enigma, the burning fire inside his soul an indication that his heart is not made of steel as most people would like to think. In Chandler, Logan finds that elusive feeling called completeness with her by his side. But any wrong move on his part could send Chandler fleeing and it is through a lot of trial and tribulations that these two eventually find their happily ever after.

I loved reading Heart of Steel. Logan and his utter focus on Chandler and the way he pursues her with that single minded intensity of his was such a huge turn on!

Jennifer Probst delivers a good bout of searing sensuality together with a story that sizzles in all the right ways. Recommended!

Jennifer Probst is an amazing writer-I loved Heart of Steel. I have read almost all of her books, the last ones being “The Marriage Bargain” Series. Please remember this is one of her FIRST books ever written, nearly 10 years ago! As a writer, almost ten years ago, she needs to be given a little slack, because her writings today, are a far cry from where she started. With that being said, I loved it!

I read a blog post by her publishing company looking for a few good men-ahem-women to read and review Heart of Steel. I began my search on Amazon and Goodreads before contacting the publisher-and was I ever so excited to have found it! Heart of Steel first published in 2004, edited and published by someone who took a chance on an unknown Jennifer Probst. August 2012 it was republished with only minor updates to technology and such, to make it more believable in the here and now. The story had all the right elements for this die hard contemporary romance fanatic.

Contemporary romance is by far my favorite type of romance, and when it is wonderfully told, I fall in love. I want my stories to be real-as realistic as possible-it could happen type of story. The emotions of the characters need to be plausible. The circumstances could happen. The conflict in the story is generally based on the emotions between the characters and their problems, and not on some external factor-it is in the here and now-it could happen. Many stories are possible, yet not plausible. I want it to be believable, plausible, possible and filled with tender-rich emotions. I want to feel as though I am one of the characters, immersing myself completely into the characters world-relating to their moments, feelings and circumstances.

Heart of Steel Story line: “Chandler Santell avoids men--especially the rich and powerful ones who believe more in money than in people. Desperate to save her struggling Yoga and Arts Center, her last hope is the most powerful man in the finance industry, a man reputed to have a "Heart of Steel."

Logan Grant knew he was in trouble the moment Chandler Santell walked into his office. He agrees to her crazy deal only when she risks all and guarantees him a profit. Behind the scenes, a dangerous game of love, power, and greed begin to play out--a game Chandler knows nothing about. The payoff is worth millions to the man who can win Chandler's heart. But is love worth the price?”

Possible-check. Emotional-check. Plausible-check.

I was forewarned by the publisher there were editing and formatting issues-welcome to the world of ebooks-right? I was not too concerned, because let’s face it, most ebooks have something wrong with either editing or formatting and most often than not-both. Heart of Steel is a great example how we as authors, as people grow with experience and time.

From the moment I opened the book until I put it down a few hours later, I feel in love with both Logan and Chandler. He is what successful business man are- tough, thick skinned, stoned facades. To advance in the corporate world it takes having a Heart of Steel to advance and succeed. Underlying it all, Logan had his own personal struggles-dealing with huge trust issues, while trying to show his tender side.

Chandler is a lot like many woman entrepreneurs of today-believing in something so deeply-independence and freedom-she is willing to risk everything to see her business, her passion succeed. She too had her own heart aches and trust issues, trying to contain her emotions for the sake of her Yoga Studio. As a romantic entrepreneur I was rooting for her all the way through the book. I wanted for her to get her happily-ever-after; her Yoga Studio and Logan.

Heart of Steel is what contemporary romance books are all about, not like other books who disguise themselves as romance books, when they are actually erotica. I liked the fact Logan and Chandler did not take a roll in the hay within the first couple of pages; like most stories today, where it is nothing more than a sex-a-thon, in every which way but correct-with a failed plot to boot. Ms. Probst books has a way of allowing the characters to develop their multiple layers, making you wait until almost half way through the book before anything romantically-sexual happens.

Heart of Steel was both heart-wrenching and heart-warming. Ms. Probst tells a story, slowly developing her characters and story line, making it impossible to put the book down. She wrote a beautifully story about love, trust and never giving up. I say this is a MUST READ! Find out for yourself if Chandler and Logan figure out if love is worth it-because we know-I will never tell!

A captivating read featuring a yoga teacher with a mind of her own and a ruthless businessman with a heart of steel. Chandler ( I really get confused by this name. Every time I read it I think of chandler in the sitcom Friends. very confusing !!! ) anyway she has been hurt and has a deep mistrust in anything related to the cut-throat business world. Logan fells for chandler from their first meeting and is determined to claim her as his. I love a hero in pursuit, especially when he is so determined, so intense, so jealous and so domineering as Logan. He sees in Chandler the sunshine that will dissipate his darkness. But first he has to gain her trust. Not an easy tusk. But Logan is the man for it.

In Executive Seduction by Jennifer Probst (previously published as Heart of Steel), Chandler Santell's beloved Yoga and Arts Center is in the midst of a financial crisis. While her client base continues to expand, her bills continue to increase exponentially. So in order to keep her studio in the black, she has to seek funding from alternative sources.

OK, I loved this book. It really reminded me of Gideon & Eva - The Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day. Just the characters, hot sexy characters. The story line was not the same but in my mind I was picturing Gideon & Eva because of the hot sexy dark dominant man. I so loved this book. I read this book 4 times when it was named "Hearts of Steel". I loved it th en & I loved it now.

Chandler Santell was a woman who walked in the sunlight, yet she'd willingly reached out for someone in the darkness and invited him into her world.

Truth in speech. Simplicity in manner. Firmness of mind. Three things to constantly strive for.

Chandler invited Logan Grant in from the darkness into the light.

"You're like the sunlight. You radiate heat and truth and all the good things in the world. "Save me Chandler".

Logan is ruthless, s businessman taking no prisoners. He meets Chandler when she approaches him to start a stress relief program through yoga for his employees. He agrees via a contract. Chandler teaches his employees how to take a step back for the sake of the business and their personal life.

"We start to forget the feel of sunshine on our face, the salty smell of the ocean the taste of chocolate. We sleep through the sunrise and ignore the sunset. We don't know how to stand still and enjoy the moment."

"But there are certain things in life that even I allow time for. Certain pleasures take away even my driving need to work."

"Tonight I'm going to tech you how good we re together. Give yourself to me, baby, and I swear you won't regret it. I'll take care of everything. Don't be afraid of me. Just let your body take you where we both want to go."

This book is about darkness, light, struggles, deceit, and love, a deep deep love. A beautiful love.

3 1/2 *

I love both characters equally. Logan and Chandler in a way complete each other. They are both equally determined to get what they want and they went all out to get it. Such a delight, reading about their story.

Logan, a man with heart of steel. That is what other people acknowledged. Chandler for one, chose to see beyond that and therefore, she was rewarded handsomely. The Logan that she caught is a guy, who is passionate, caring and humble [derived these qualities from the existence of Greenbriar Home] and of course crazy in love with Chandler. I like how he always subtlety gave in to Chandler, giving her time and space to accept him unconditionally and towards the end, he still does that even when it meant that he might lost her. For that, I absolutely love him.

Chandler, she has been betrayed by men. To be specific, corporate guys. To be betrayed by a guy, is bad. To be betrayed by a father is insufferable. Hence, the setback with Logan but as she got to know him, she was attracted to him but the heart still refused to accept what is destined for her until she almost lost him.

I like how the story is narrated. Easy flow, with not too much conflict. A relaxing reading.

Chandler Santell is desperate to save her Yoga and Arts Center. She approaches Logan Grant AKA the man of steel with a plan to save her company and at the same time increase the productivity of his employees. They become business partners. Their physical attraction is off the charts but so are their doubts. Will they find love and happiness with each other? Can they overcome their past pain? Jennifer Probst has written a wildly passionate romance. Chandler and Logan are well matched both in and out of bed. He is an alpha male who wants to protect his lady, but she is no damsel in distress. Chandler is determined to control her own destiny. Their dialog is filled with sharp wit. The story is well plotted and pulls you right in. I loved Executive Seduction.

*sighs* another disappointment. I like Logan although he can be a bit pushy sometimes ( all the times actually).

The girl, on the other hand is a disappointment. Yes, she's a nice person. But she's very easily swayed, easily manipulated etc. etc. etc. And she's always angry I could literally hear her screaming (at Logan).

And then there's the 'I'm angry at you but i couldn't resist you so let's have sex' thing. this gets very tiring.

This reads more like a harlequin novel, rather lame and just meh. Breezed through it to be done. Marriage Bargain (Married to a Billionaire) was a much cuter story. Could be because I'd just come off KA's Knight. Tough act to follow.

Executive Seduction tells the story of Chandler Santell, a young Yoga instructor who leads a free spirited lifestyle after living in the constricting and competitive business world. Suffering a great heartbreak which has left her untrusting of men, she vows to be independent, relying on only herself and refusing to let love rule both her heart and mind ever again. It is her idea to financially save her struggling Yoga and Arts centre that leads her to the charming and enigmatic CEO, Logan Grant. While an intense attraction binds them initially, Chandler is apprehensive to enter into any form a relationship with the gorgeous man. But once Logan sets his sights on something, he stops at nothing to attain it, and he has discovered he wants this sweet and feisty young woman in his bed. But what happens when they both share deep insecurities from their pasts and struggle continually to deny the attraction between them? An attraction that is slowly simmering into something much more than they may be able to handle.

One thing I adore about Jennifer Probst’s novels is the fiercely independent heroines she creates. Chandler exemplifies the strong, independent modern woman and is such a breath of fresh air. Yet she is also an endearing heroine, and one who carries the heavy weight of insecurities and deep yearning to be loved. Her bright, free spirited outlook on life is passionate nonetheless and mirrors the same passion that Logan displays in the business world and together they make the most captivating couple to explore.

Logan is a purely seductive and delectable amalgamation of the perfect man. Jennifer Probst has yet again created an extremely sexy, dominating and deliciously handsome alpha male. One who will instantly capture your heart with his intense charm and over confident nature in his approach to winning over Chandler. He is also a man who imbues tender qualities and has led a life void of true unconditional love. There are moments within this book where he melts your heart with his vulnerability and frustrates you with his overbearing nature.

Both of these characters harbour deep insecurities and are left vulnerable, shielding their hearts from further heartbreak. As the story unfolds, Chandler and Logan are developed beautifully through the poetic, yet seductive writing that allows the reader to truly connect to these two characters on a deep level.

Executive Seduction is simply stunning. It is a beautiful and heartfelt depiction of unexpected and all consuming love that has the power to heal even the deepest of wounds. This is a beautiful, intelligent and refreshing story. You need to grab it right now, so you can devour and fall in love with yet another stunning romance that Jennifer Probst has the gift of creating.

***Detailed Review***

3.5 stars

HEART OF STEEL was a quick and joyful read. If I understand correctly, this is one of Ms. Probst earlier books, that has been re-released in both book and eBook form.

I found Chandler Santell to be very different from other female daughters of high end business men. Previous to four years ago, Chandler was on her way to taking over her father’s company with flying colors. After the death of her mother, much of her days were spent at her father’s office soaking up the world of business, but when her father felt Chandler straying he decided a marriage would settle her down perfectly.

Now for the past four years, Chandler’s hasn’t looked back at the business career and father that she left behind. Discovering the behind the scenes deal between her fiancé and father permanently turned her away from the business world and her trust in high power business men who only see the profit.

However, now her Yoga and Arts Center is in need of financial backing to stay afloat and the only way she hopes to get the backing is by proving yoga will help profits for high stressful company employees.

Logan Grant, the Man of Steel, is prepared to send Chandler out of his door laughing in her face, like all the other companies that have turned her down, but the minute he meets her, his world is turned upside down.

I enjoyed Logan’s instant attraction to Chandler. He fought the entire book for her trust him and he tried hard to give her the time to really get to know him. You couldn’t help but read as Logan really changed from the cold, but respectful business man to a guy who wanted more out of life than just long hours and money.

Chandler’s yoga classes really turned around the office mood, but not without some drama. Unfortunately, Logan has some competition from his young lawyer who Logan instantly knows is up to something as he tries to court Chandler.

Both Logan and Chandler struggle to give the other their full trust, but Chandler is definitely the holdout, something I found refreshing. I enjoy when the guy falls hard and works to win the female over. And Logan isn’t without his He-man tactics when it comes to Chandler and his jealousy.

When her father approaches Logan with the same deal as he did with her ex-fiancé, to gain rights to his company upon a wedding, Logan is caught by Chandler before he can tell her of his decision.

With a sense of déjà vu, Chandler lashes out at both her father (again) and Logan for once again interfering in her life. Only this time, Chandler learns the pain is far worse because of her love for Logan.

Luckily, sense is talked into her and she faces her father for the first time in years for a heart to heart. There, she learns Logan choose her over gaining her father’s company.

Now, she has to get him back, but thankfully, Logan still just wants her.

Instead of repeating the blurb and telling you the who and the what, I'll instead tell you the why.

I guess me and Ms Probst will have to agree to disagree on her choice of covers. Had I not read The Marriage Bargain and known that when it comes to Ms Probst's books, there is quality behind the awkward covers, I would never have picked up this one either. And having now read two books by Ms Probst, and both books being solid winners, Ms Probst sails right onto the top of my list for all time favorite authors. I'm so much fan of her work, seeing her in my feed here on Goodreads makes me squee a little every time. And trust me, next time I go hunting for books, I'll be seeking out her name specifically over on Amazon.

So what is it about Ms Probst's books that pull me in so? First of all her characters. She writes 'real' characters that you can connect with. And Ms Probst is a master at showing instead of telling, which pulls you right into their heads. You feel what they are feeling. And man, what a rollercoaster that can be... :D

Heart Of Steel doesn't quite compare to The Marriage Bargain, but it's almost there. This is a classic romance book that isn't too heavy on the smut, but it doesn't skirt around the subject either. It's that wonderful balance that makes it a perfect read.

I love that Chandler has a mind of her own. I love that she doesn't let anyone walk all over her, least of all Logan or her dad. There is no navel-gazing going on in this book, which these days is refreshing. Trust me.

I love Logan. He lets Chandler be and lets her make her own mind up, even if he's dying to do the macho thing and take control of their situation. He's very much an Alpha male, but an Alpha male who respects that the Alpha female has a mind of her own.

Next time remind me not to listen to Madonna when writing reviews. I end up singing more than I type. :D

RATING: 3 Hearts

***Thanks to Jennifer Probst for providing a copy in exchange for a honest review.***

After reading Jennifer Probst’s, The Marriage Bargain, I became a fan of her hilarious dialogue, memorable characters and, of course, the frustrating, yet, irresistible sexual angst. However, Heart of Steel fell short on those counts. It is by no means a bad read, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Chandler Santell is desperate to save her Yoga & Arts centre and she needs a money making corporation to keep it from closing down. In her attempt to save, she turns to Logan Grant, the leader of the finance industry. Admittedly, I had no problems with the characters. They are both fun and engaging. In fact, the best moments of this book are of Chandler and Logan together – whether it is romantically or through humorous banter. They aren't well-rounded, but all the same, a likable couple.

The major downfall, (and reason of my 3 star rating), is the storyline. It is pleasant enough, but it isn’t plausible. The emotions or even the circumstances are severely lacking depth, making it difficult to connect with the story. The outcome is obvious right from the start, and with some contemporaries that’s okay, but without development, the simplicity of the plot isn’t appreciable. In other words, Ms. Probst is mostly telling rather than showing, which is not favorable in any book.

Overall, there is definite room for improvement, with the characters and humour being this book's only redeeming qualities. Although, it may not be as heart-warming as compared to Ms. Probst's other books, it is still a decent and fairly enjoyable read.

Logan Grant is aggressive, domineering, extremely intelligent and sexy as hell. From his first line, "You are one gutsy lady"... I knew he was gonna be something special. I pictured him with eyes and features like Ian Somerhalder but with a voice and disposition of Shemar Moore . Sexy as hell.

The only issue I had with our heroine is her name, Chandler. I'm a fan of the TV show, Friends, and if you've seen the show then you know one of the character's name is Chandler Bing. This was extremely distracting for me. I had a hard time remembering that in this story Chandler is the woman. And in this story she's the only woman we here from and she's surrounded by men. Which tells you that it shouldn't be distracting at all.

Anyhoo.... would I recommend this story? Absolutely. It's a quick read one could probably finish in an afternoon. I can't give it 5 stars because I'm not jumping up and down for it like my other 5-star-stories. And the name is just a lose for me.... which is probably why I'm not jumping up and down.

I did find myself getting emotional over the **spoiler alert** break-up. Especially when Logan was hurting. I absolutely loved how he got her back. Even-though, it is a little stalkerish-like and borderline assault-like. ((It's 4:30 in the morning, I can make-up words if I want.))

So read it. Jennifer does it again!

This is the second book I have read from Probst and am hooked. She has a great style, she moves the story along with a quick pace but not at the expense of the plot. Her characters are charming and engaging and the dialoguing is fun, part of my favorite aspect of the author's style. She creates men that are strong, controlled, a little uptight but in complete command of their lives. Until.... they meet the female lead who is the complete opposite, kicked backed, sweet, with a "let it roll" attitude that confounds and causes utter chaos in the neat and tidy lives. And they clashing between the two like watching an old fashion love story. Very good character and relationship build and even a bit cheesy, but it works and kept me addicted. Very fun, light and enjoyable read.

I'm a huge Jennifer Probst fan so I was excited to have the opportunity to read her first novel. I enjoyed Chandler and Logan's journey. I was particularly happy with the fact that Logan was willing to embrace love when he found it even if it meant making time in his schedule for it. My biggest criticism is the characters felt isolated. Where were their family and friends? I wanted more of that. I wanted to know who they were when they weren't with each other. I'm bias though so it's one of the many things I loved about Ms. Probst's Billionaire series. I loved learning about Mama Conte and seeing all of the characters interact while following the journey of the main couple. Overall, it was enjoyable.

I loved this story! It was intense yet satisfying! I want to know what happens with Olivia! Is there more to this world? I really like how a yoga teacher (though very smart former corporate braniac)makes a ruthless hard core billionaire fall for her without really even trying! It was a sweet story of love at first-ish sight. I really enjoyed how Logan stood up to Chandler's dad, and how sweet it was to see how it played out. I love Jennifer Probst's Marriage to a Billionaire series and other books so I figured I would like this one, but it was even better than I hoped! I loved how even after Chandler was dumb and kept pushing Logan away he finally got her to cave and that weekend was a fairy tale in and of itself! Five stars for sure!

While Heart of Steel by Jennifer Probst is a lot less erotic in tone than other books I've been reading lately, it has at its core a truly heartwarming romance between two people who captured my interest right from the beginning. Logan is a business tycoon with a seemingly hard heart and Chandler a yoga instructor who has been badly hurt in the past - by a business tycoon, no less. Without the erotic component, Logan and Chandler's story is stripped back to highlight the development of what I would call a true romance, and I was completely drawn into - and invested in the outcome of - this delightful yet complex relationship. In my view, if you like romance you will love Heart of Steel.

This is a revamped & rewritten story of Jennifer Probast's first books "Heart of Steel"! But she did tell her readers of this in her Newsletter & on her Website! She also is limited what she is allowed to put in a published eBook or Paperback about it being a rewritten previous book! That being said & in defense of one of my favorite authors:

I found this book very good! It's characters just keep the plot moving along quite nicely & make you want to find out what will make the main MAN'S heart finally thaw out! Is it all about the bottom dollar and PROFIT? or can it really be about Love, commitment, and devotion to the Woman who really is Your HEART & SOUL?

I absolutely loved this book.

It reminded me of when I was in my early twenties and started reading Silhouette and was more about the romance than the sex.

I loved the main characters and how their relationship developed.
