Honor Bound by BJ Daniels
The Montana Hamiltons series #6. Romantic suspense. Multi timeline. Can be read as a stand-alone but better in series order.
The Presidential election is upcoming and leading candidate, Buckmaster Hamilton wants his eldest daughter protected, in particular, since she’s not part of his household. Sawyer Nash goes undercover to protect Ainsley Hamilton and it’s a good thing as her feelings of someone watching is not just paranoia.

Lots of twists and connected stories across the family, the sheriff and more. Multiple layers of suspense, action, treachery, and a touch of crazy. Add in a dash of romance and the series concludes like a slide into home plate.

Review to come:

Note to self:
Didn't think I was ever going to finish...

Felt very choppy

Didn't like Sarah at all and tended to stop reading during her sections

Too many story lines
Example: Emily Calder's ex-boyfriend escapes from prison but it was kind of like throw in this fear factor moment and then "poof"; everything's OK and it's over. Why was it even here? I had the same problem when a similar plot was added to one of the other books in the series. It's not developed here or in the other book and just seemed like a meandering side plot that didn't advance the main story line or the main characters.

Suspension of disbelief failure

Extremely repetitious is you've read the series

Must read the series prior to this book

Series thoughts

The sisters never seemed to gel or be together...it was almost like they were sisters in name only. I tended to get them confused from book to book since each sister was only developed in the book that their love story was featured.

Every book repeated so much of what was said in the prior book that redundancy did me in. Even within the same book there seemed to be repetition. Since this series is definitely one that doesn't have stand a-lone books, I think it would be better to have eliminated the lengthy explanations from prior books.

Book nerd confession here. I keep a reading journal. After every few chapters, I usually stop and write down what happened in the story and my feelings about it. I couldn't do it with this series. I got so caught up in this story that I couldn't bring myself to stop reading it. This final book is like the finale at a fireworks show. It is heart-poundingly riveting! Ms. Daniels has such a talent for knowing when to switch to the next scene and leave you hanging, biting your nails to know what's happening next. Her timing is flawless!

Ainsley Hamilton, oldest daughter to presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, has always been the good child, the responsible child, the one everyone can count on. She's also the target of a stalker. One she never gets a good look at but can feel his presence. A presence that leaves her feeling eerie and vulnerable. While Ainsley is scouting locations for the commercial production company she works for, the stalker becomes more aggressive and dangerous. Lucky for her, in steps a handsome cowboy to save the day. His presence brings out a woman in her she doesn't know and it both scares and excites her.
Sawyer Nash, as a favor to Sheriff Frank Curry, offers to keep an eye on Ainsley. At the commercial production site, he's mistaken for an aspiring actor and decides to use that ruse as his cover. When he first meets Ainsley, he sees how beautiful and vulnerable she is but reminds himself what happened the last time he rescued a woman. Yet, as the election draws nearer, so does the danger and Sawyer is sticking like glue to Ainsley dodging one peril after another to keep them safe.

What an explosive ending to an unbelievable series. There are so many at first seemingly unrelated characters and events that come together revealing their part in the whole Prophecy story. And oh the villains! Ms. Daniels doesn't just write nasty villains, she writes Psycho/Fatal Attraction/ Misery type crazy villains that have no moral compass and will go to any lengths to achieve their goal.
I've always prided myself on being able to figure out characters and who-dun-it in movies and books. This story kept me doubting every suspicion I had. BJ Daniels keeps you guessing until the final pages are turned. Around every page is a new intrigue keeping you on the edge of your seat and asking questions with each clue. I have feverishly devoured this series until the very last piece of the puzzle was placed.
I wish I had Ms. Daniels writing talent so I could convey how amazingly brilliant this series is. But, alas, I am a horrible writer so you'll just have to take my word for it. This series is an incredible story with so many twists and turns, it will leave you breathless. Well done, BJ! Well done!

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

This is one of the best series I have read. You start with a very good mystery and in each book you get clues as to what happened and a hot romance, I was fervently waiting for this book to wrap it all up. This time we have the romance of Ainsley and Sawyer and it is as twisty as a rattlesnake and just as potent.

At the end of Into Dust we were left to wonder about the fate of the romance between Cassidy and Jack. Can true love overcome the loss of their memories of each other? It also left us with the question: What is The Prophecy's end game? If the election of Buckmaster Hamilton was the goal, why? Is Sarah really going to betray The Prophecy?

Election Night. Buckmaster Hamilton has been elected President of the United States. Everyone for miles around is in Beartooth, Montana to witness this historic event, even members of The Prophecy who have decided to attempt an assignation. To bad that Ainsley noticed and recognized the gunman and foiled the attempt.

Sawyer Nash has been undercover protecting Ainsley for the final days before the election while she wraps up her final location scouting job. At the one time he is needed most, he almost fails. She just can't die, not without knowing how he really feels about her.

Sawyer is FBI and is recovering from injuries from his last mission. Frank Curry, Beartooth Sherriff, asks Sawyer to protect Ainsley and catch whoever has been stalking her for months. This leads Sawyer to Ainsley's location shoot at a old hotel in the middle of nowhere and to a bitter ex-girlfriend, Kitzie, also FBI and on the trail of a group of jewel thieves. How much more complicated can this series get? Lots, that's how much.

Very good book and conclusion to the series. There are three main stories going on. The one that has been building since the first book, which is the story of Sarah Hamilton and why she has really "returned from the dead". Another is specific to this book and is the story of Ainsley and Sawyer, as is the search for a gang of jewel thieves that may be using the production company as a cover.

Ainsley is the oldest of the Hamilton girls and has been the one to watch out for the others after their mother died. She's tried to be a good example for them. A few years earlier she had felt the need for change, dropped out of law school and became a location scout for a production company that makes commercials. For the last several months she has had the feeling that she's being followed. She doesn't know who or why. When one of her location searches ends in a landslide, she feels lucky that a cowboy was there to save her. She finds him incredibly attractive and is tempted to let go of her good girl ways for a bit.

Sawyer wasn't there by chance. On medical leave from his job with the FBI, he's bored and willing to help out his old friend Sheriff Frank Curry when he's asked to protect Ainsley from a potential stalker. He signs on as an extra for the commercial to give him a reason to be near her. He doesn't expect to be so fascinated by all the facets of her personality or so attracted to her physically. He made the mistake of getting involved with a woman he rescued before and it didn't end well.

I enjoyed the development of their romance. Both of them are independent, intelligent and loyal to those they care about. There was also an immediate attraction between them, stronger than either had ever felt before. Ainsley decides that Sawyer is the perfect person to help her rid herself of a "problem" and Sawyer has a hard time resisting. And though he knows he shouldn't get involved, he finds Ainsley too irresistible. There are bumps in their road, though, as Sawyer's ex, also an FBI agent, is there too, working on the jewel thief case. She isn't happy to see Sawyer with Ainsley and does several mean-spirited things to keep them apart, at the same time trying to convince Sawyer to come back to her. When Ainsley finds out the truth of why Sawyer is there, on top of his connection to Kitzie, she's sure she has made a mistake. It takes a couple of life threatening events to bring them back together.

The various suspense threads were fantastic, with quite a few twists and turns. The stalker situation was intense, with the stalker getting more and more aggressive. Sawyer is pretty sure he has it figured out, but until he's certain he doesn't want to get too far from Ainsley. Just when you think he's got it all wrapped up, it turns out that there is more to the story. Ainsley's life is endangered even further by a stunt that Kitzie pulls, and it is a terrifying close call for Sawyer to show up in time to save her.

The jewel thieves case that Kitzie is working on was interesting. She and her partner had been working it for a while, and she finally feels like they are getting close. I enjoyed following along as they put the clues together. Kitzie's independence and competitiveness puts her in danger, and also risks the resolution of the case. There's a twist to the ending that infuriates Kitzie and doesn't show her particularly well. She does get a chance to redeem herself later.

The biggest story, however, has been the story of Sarah Hamilton. I have gone back and forth on her throughout the series, never quite sure whether I could trust her. It has come out that before she met and married Buck, she had been the leader of a revolutionary group called The Prophecy. In this book we learn more about her disappearance more than twenty years earlier and what was behind it. Now she is becoming more afraid of what is going to happen when Buck is elected president. I felt bad for her and her fears of what would happen when her memories fully returned, and was pretty impressed with her growing determination discover the truth. Her confrontation with her ex-lover and current leader was intense and showed just how dangerous he was. The final scene on election night was truly scary in how possible it could be in real life.

I also enjoyed following along with Sheriff Frank Curry and his wife Nettie. He has been such a big part of several series. He is a man who is always determined to protect the people he serves to the best of his ability, and will go to any length to do so. But he's also getting a bit burned out and wants to spend more time with his wife. It was fun to see that he's also realistic enough to know that a typical retirement is not for him. I loved the solution that he came up with, and the effect it has on Nettie also.

If you love an overloaded mystery and suspense that keeps your pulse pounding, then look no further than this book. HONOR BOUND wraps up the Montana Hamiltons series with lots of intrigue and ties up all loose ends from the previous books.

Ainsley Hamilton enjoys the independence her job as a location scout provides her, away from the drama back home, but her concerns about being stalked have just become serious due to a scouting trip that could have gone badly for her except for the timely intervention of a new member of the crew.

Off duty due to an injury, Sawyer Nash goes undercover as an extra on set to provide some protection for Ainsley, an assignment that gives him an opportunity to get to know that woman very well. But with an interfering ex-girlfriend, the possibility of losing his job and the still unknown stalker, there is no opportunity to take things anywhere.

Ms. Daniels is famous for writing mysteries that will grip you and this is one of them. She does a great job keeping multiple story lines going at the same time and bring them all together at the end of the book. Stalkers, jealous exes and anarchists are some of what are offered in this installment, but readers also get to touch base with the couples from the previous books. I haven't read any of the previous books, but it wasn't hard for me to figure out the players in this book.

Ainsley has been touted as being the responsible Hamilton progeny, but I wonder how much of that is true, when knowing that her father's presidential campaign puts her in the cross-hairs of some crazies and even in spite of feeling like she's being stalked, she does not ask for any kind of protection. Sawyer is has an unfortunate habit of falling for his rescues, but will Ainsley be the one to end that habit or will he move on to the next damsel in distress?

As the final book in the series which appears to have dangled lots of loose ends, I can see how the multiple characters and story-lines appeal, but for me they felt like drama overload that I had to wade through to get to the story of Ainsley and Sawyer. I did enjoy the suspense, but I wanted more romance than I got (and that is something I never thought I'd say).

If you enjoy intrigue and suspense and love light romance in your books, this is the book for you. My recommendation is to read the entire series from the beginning and in order.

This is the first B.J. Daniels book I've read. I really enjoyed meeting the Hamilton family and life in Montana. I look forward to reading more of B.J.'s books in the future. She has well rounded characters, intense suspense and sweet love stories. I recommend this book to anyone liking a contemporary romance.

Bo had made it sound as if Ainsley’s ‘condition’ was a car with a faulty radiator. ‘You should get that taken care of,’ she’d said.

My Review:

When I picked up this book, I did not realize it was Book #6 in a series I had never read, and while it would have been easier if I had read the previous installments - a decent amount of back-story was given so I was not completely lost. There was, however, a large cast of characters to track that carried over from the previous books. The story started with a bang - literally – a gunshot. Honor Bound had a complicated and active plot with several threads going at once in several different directions, yet they managed to intersect and weave into a cohesive scheme at the end. Buckle up for politics, jewel thieves, kidnapping, assaults, murders, stalkers, assassination attempts, terrorists, and undercover agents. The characters were unusual with the majority of them being damaged, twisted, annoying, or unlikable while the storyline held considerable tension, suspense, and unpredictability. Every character held secrets and broke rules. It was frequently clear that no one was totally trustworthy, and even at the finish, I continue to hold my doubts and find I am not fully trusting the end result.

I never felt like Cassidys story was ever finished in the last book. Just too many storylines felt like a rush to the finish line in this book. A lot of the storyline kept getting repeated til it just felt like filler.

Western romantic suspense at its best!

“A toast,” Buck said, raising his glass. “To the Montana Hamiltons!”
Cheers rose…

HONOR BOUND by B.J. Daniels is the sixth and final thrilling installment in the author’s intense, action-packed, fast-paced Montana Hamiltons’ series. It’s both a riveting mystery and a hot romance! As with the previous books, readers are treated to a mosaic of plots within plots within plots. Don’t let that scare you away! I’m always blown away how, under this author’s tutelage, it totally works!

This is the story of Ainsley Hamilton, the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, and undercover FBI agent Sawyer Nash. Ainsley stepped in as a mother-figure to her siblings when their mother died. She has always been in the background until now. I’m glad to finally get her story. HONOR BOUND also wraps up Sarah’s ‘Prophecy’ saga and readers become privy to the latest concerning one of my favorite couples, Beartooth, Montana’s Sheriff Frank Curry and Nettie. I was thrilled to read about what they have planned and am hoping, hoping, hoping to read more about them in the future!

HONOR BOUND can be enjoyed as a standalone read if that is your preference. The author seamlessly integrates critical information a novice reader to this series would need to know – so those unfamiliar with the various storylines will never find themselves lost. However, each of the previous books have included clues and each book has deepened the reader’s connection to the primary characters and their backgrounds. So, for maximum enjoyment, it would be best to read this series in order, if you can. Besides, this series has been a fantastic read and, now that the series is tidily wrapped up, you could read it straight through!

As HONOR-BOUND opens, it’s a cold November night in the fairground outside Beartooth, Montana, as the presidential election results are announced over the loudspeakers. The fairground is crawling with security. What part will the ‘Prophecy’ play and will those with parts to play in it irretrievably change the course of the future?

Leading up to this night, Sheriff Frank Curry is seriously worried about Ainsley who has had a mysterious stalker for months. The Sheriff makes a call to Sawyer Nash, who is still recovering from injuries from his last mission, and asks him for a favor. He needs someone he trusts to protect Ainsley and catch whoever has been stalking her. Ainsley is on location scouting shooting locales in the middle of wild, untamed nowhere when Sawyer joins her there mixing in as an extra with the crew.

OMG… B.J. superbly relates this couple’s tale. Ainsley and Sawyer hit it off immediately. We meet Sawyer’s bitter ex-girlfriend FBI agent – who I wanted to personally bludgeon – and jewel thieves and Ainsley’s scary seriously loco stalker! Ainsley and Sawyer have great chemistry… but the odds are stacked heavily against them.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from HONOR BOUND:

“Wait a minute. Are you limping?” Before he could speak, she said, “You can ride, though, right?”
“I assume you’re referring to a horse?”
She smiled and jammed her hands down on her abundant hips. “Cowboys,” she muttered under her breath as she sat back down.
---
“I can be a perfect gentleman. If that’s what you want.”
---
His gaze locked with hers. “I didn’t know what my life was missing until I met you.”
---
“Love me,” she whispered. “Love me like you mean it.”

If I had one complaint, it would be that that I yearned for more about Cassidy and Jack after the cruel life-changing experiment done on them in the previous book, INTO DUST (#5). While the author affirms that all is well with them in HONOR BOUND, I still would have liked to read more of their journey of re-igniting their romance and re-uniting as a couple.

B.J.’s Montana Hamiltons’ series has been western romantic suspense at its best. B.J. has a special knack for interweaving multiple plotlines into her stories. In HONOR BOUND, those twisted, entangled storylines get their stunning, but robust, big bows as they all come together in a stunning conclusion. Characters and events reveal their pre-destined parts as the story surges to an ostensibly dark apocalyptic ending. Truthfully, I spent most of the book on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend HONOR BOUND to anyone who enjoys complex and gripping western romantic suspense.

"Honor Bound" by B.J. Daniels

My Thoughts...

This was a wonderful read that once you start reading it finding it hard to put down until the end.
It was quite interesting seeing Hinsley Hamilton finally getting her HEA which as a good ending to this explosive series 'The Montana Hamiltons #6.' The reader will have to keep up because there will be so much happening. We find that many of the characters and events will come together revealing there part in this 'Prophecy' story.' Now what that is about ties in to the last series...'Into Dust' that dealt with the question of just what the Prophecy's end game was. Anyway on into this series we find Ainsley Hamilton, the older daughter to the presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton being a target of a stalker and that's where Sawyer Nash comes into the picture where he is to keep a keep on her. Will he be able to protect her? This will be one explosive ending...where I say you will have to pick this one up to see for yourself how well this author brings it all out to the readers. Be ready for a lots of 'psycho, fatal attraction, crazy type villains that are very strong wanting to obtain their objections with many twist and turns. Will they succeed? This is definitely one of those reads that will be have one guessing who...until the very end with all of its mystery, intrigue and oh yes, romance. If you are looking for a good complexed romance suspense that will give you one 'incredible story' then I would recommend this one to you as one good read. This was a good ending for one good series..The Montana Hamiltons!

This was a good end to a really great series. Though I think there might be a spinoff in the future. With Election Day coming closer tension is high and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. Ainsley Hamilton's location search for the commercial company is about over then she'll be on her way home for the election night. Ainsley just can't shake the feeling she's being watched everywhere she goes. She mentions this to her hometown sheriff and with out her knowledge he asked his friend Sawyer Nash to go and keep an eye on her. Mistaken as an extra he blends in with the crew as cover. When the two meet there is an immediate connection and the romance begins.
If you've never read BJ Daniels she brings in all the characters of the series so get the whole picture of what's going on with everyone in the story. I highly recommend this series and should be read in order.

Finally we find out what Sarah did and what she is doing now. We also get to see the HEA for Ainsley Hamilton, the last of the Hamilton daughter to find romance and an HEA. I wondered how Daniels was going to have any kind of an upbeat ending to this series. It really looked like Sarah and Buckmaster Hamilton would not get a very good ending. Daniels managed to tie up all the loose ends and give everyone a really nice ending to a very complex story line.

What an ending to a great series. We now know all about Sarah and the big plans for The Prophecy along with Buck and if he will become the new President. This is the last of the series as well as the last story of the 6 daughters. There are stories inside of stories as we touch base with all the characters and what is happening to them. Ainsley is the good daughter she does nothing wrong always doing what is expected of her. That is about to change with danger near and a stalker stalking her, her life is about to change. Sawyer is called in to help protect Ainsley the only thing is she doesn’t know why he is there. Their coming together is exciting along with the trails they will have to go through before we find out if it might be love for these two.

Honor Bound is an exciting read that really pulls you in through the danger, stalker, ex’s, a mother that has been missing for 20 years, a father that is so much in love with her he can’t see straight and The Prophecy that wants something from him. As Sarah finally gets her memory back of her past and her passionate ex lover and the effect it will have on her family along with the race to become the first lady. An exciting read that is full of broken promises, heart break, new love, old loves and the adventure they go on why trying to keep people alive.

When I first picked up the first book in this series I had not a clue where the author would take this. With the ending I was very much surprised at the turn of events. What a wonderful ending with such passion and thrills. Sawyer has his work cut out for him not only in keeping Ainsley save but to make her understand why he did what he did. It is touch and go with many people in their way. You will also find out what happens to Cassidy and Jack. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to hear more of their story and how they finally make it all work out. The author does touch on this but I would love to have seen it all play out. Yes it is the ending of the series that I didn’t want to end. I feel there is so much more to tell of this family and hate to say good bye to them. It is a series I will be rereading again and most likely will listen on audio. I loved the touching plot, the sorrow, love, getting to know each character. What really hooked me was the sub plot about Sarah, her past, her future and just how it all plays out. I loved the adventure, danger, thrills and even a few chilling moments that just about stopped my heart. There is no doubt I was hooked from the first page until the last. I hope everyone will enjoy this thrilling exciting read as much as I have.

Ainsley Hamilton has always been the responsible one of the family. As the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, she's also a potential target. For months she's sensed someone following her. When an expedition to scout locations for a commercial takes a terrifying turn, she's rescued by a natural-born cowboy who tempts the good girl to finally let loose.

Sawyer Nash knows just how reckless it is to fall for someone he's gone undercover to protect. Yet masquerading as an extra on set, he starts to see beneath Ainsley's controlled facade. And with the election—and a killer—drawing closer, Sawyer stands to lose not just his job and his life but the woman for whom he'd gladly risk both.

With leads the are strong, independent and loyal to those they love. Ainsley and Sawyer both have learned to hide their true selves from the outside world, but to survive they must learn to trust one another or they may not live to work past the secrets that are revealed to find their happily ever after.

This is the sixth and final book in the series and I would recommend to read the series from the beginning to completely understand where the characters come together and their back histories. Fall in love with the Hamiltons and come back often to visit often.

My rating of "Into Dust" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Made it to 70%, but just couldn't go on. Why? Let me count the ways...

1. Waaaaay too many stories going on at the same time--which are apparently going to coincide into one giant cluster, but they were stretching the boundaries before we started to see the connections between them and I can't see how they'll get more believable further in.

2. Instalove between hero and heroine. There wasn't a single shred of evidence that it could be anything else at that point or at any other up to that 70%.

3. Professional FBI agent who, obsessed with another agent who didn't want the same things she did, decides to a) befriend his new love interest, getting her drunk for the first time when she asked for a non-alcoholic drink b) sabotage his new relationship before it even gets started with an inside reminder of her that only he'll get at the expense of his new love interest and c) DRUG HIS COFFEE with three (of her) prescription sleeping pills so he'll miss his next date with the heroine and d) made it look (to the heroine) like he (the drugged fellow agent) fell asleep on her couch after they, well, you know. I was waiting for the woman to break out the Depends and embark on a cross country drive next.

And after all that, she's still supposedly one of the good guys. Just, apparently, a little misguided...

4. There was so much already going on at the beginning of the book that we're just thrown into--a few threads must be from previous series books (heroine's mother's return from the dead, past cult drama, previous lover in a coma), but clearly not all of them (past FBI agent love story, female agent's current case, and more) which kept me feeling as if I just couldn't quite get caught up.

5. POV jumping all over the place. Some chapters gave us half a dozen or more different perspectives, and it was dizzying trying to keep everything straight.

So...if you've read the other five Hamiltons in Montana series books and need to see how it all ends, by all means, give it a try. At least #4 won't be as much of an issue for you, presumably. And I'm guessing that everything will be resolved at the end, which hopefully will be satisfying. I just couldn't hold out that long...

Rating: 1 star /D

Thank goodness the final book in this series tied up all the loose ends. Ainsley, the eldest Hamilton daughter finds her match in Sawyer Nash. Sheriff Curry asks Sawyer who is recuperating from an injury from his last FBI assignment if he would keep an eye on Ainsley who had reported being followed by someone. He was worried that her stalker might be connected to her father's presidential campaign or a terrorist group called the Prophecy. Sarah finally regains her memories and still remains dedicated to destroying the Prophecy plans. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading about the Cahills soon.

Great final book of the Montana Hamilton's. Ainsley is the oldest of the Hamilton Girls and she has the job of locating shooting sites for commercials and movies in Montana. Her current job has her feeling like someone is watching her. Enters Sawyer Nash, a FBI agent on medical leave doing a favor for Sheriff Curry. The sparks fly between the two but Ainsley has always been the responsible one and looked after her sisters. Things come to a head for all the secrets as election night approaches. Will Sarah get all her memories back and stay with Buck. Will Ainsley and Sawyer find their way or will it all be to much for anyone to survive.

I absolutely loved this book! It is the ending of a series that follows The Montana Hamilton's through the political career of Buckmaster Hamilton and his run for the presidency. This book is about the oldest daughter Ainsley who has been having someone following her and she is trying to find out who it is and if it has something to do with her Dad's campaign. Sawyer Nash is undercover to try to protect her without her knowing it and to catch a killer.
This whole series has kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This book will do the same, it is full of suspense, intrigue, mystery and a love story worth reading. Ms. Daniels has done a wonderful job with all the characters.
I requested an ARC of this book. I highly recommend this book and the series.

Read the whole series

Wow what a series this was. I can honestly say I have never read a continously series with so many twists, turns, up, downs. Now I'm off the Rollercoaster this is a must read series. It keeps you guessing through each book. I do have to say one negative which is my opinion only. The heroine of the story should not have gotten her HEA. She started the Rollercoaster ride.

B J has written one of the best

Series I've ever read. Although each story can stand alone, they're so much better together! From the beginning in the first book until the last word in this the final book you never know just what's going to happen next. This family will have you on the edge of your seat. Do not miss this series!!

This wasn't one of my favorite BJ Daniels books, but it was still a good book. This is the end of this series I believe, at least for the Hamilton's it is. There were a lot of loose ends that came to an end. I was happy that it was concluded but I was still a little confused. I love BJ Daniels and I cannot wait to read another book from her!!

Honor Bound is the sixth book in the author’s Montana Hamiltons series. As someone who has not read the rest of the series and got totally lost in this book, I highly recommend that if you think this book sounds interesting, or if someone recommends it to you, and you haven’t read the rest of the series, start at the beginning with Wild Horses, or don’t start at all.

All the loose plot threads from all of the previous books get wrapped up in a bow in this one, and some of those plot threads are absolute doozies. For faithful readers of the series, this book serves as the perfect ending for all of what came before, but for readers just starting, like me, it comes off as too many subplots and too much stuff going on to be packed into one book.

I felt like the long arm of coincidence (or as we call it around here, co-in-key-dink) got much, much too long. Too many crazy things happen all at once, and it pulls at the willing suspension of disbelief. Of course, for those following the series, all of those converging subplots are cathartic, as everything gets wrapped up and tied off.

Considering that I read this as we were gearing up for the final presidential debate this season, having the book start out with a Republican being elected President by a landslide was more than a bit bizarre on a number of levels. However, Buckmaster Hamilton is a way different brand of Republican than the current candidate.

The series overall has followed his candidacy, as well as providing an HEA for each of his six daughters in turn. Honor Bound is oldest daughter Ainsley’s chance for her HEA. FBI Agent Sawyer Nash arrives at the remote Montana valley where Ainsley is scouting locations for an advertising campaign to investigate her reports of a stalker. Unfortunately for both Ainsley and Sawyer, her stalker ramps up his interference after seeing the relationship between Ainsley and Sawyer heat up.

There are multiple coincidences, or so it feels, in Ainsley’s situation. One of Sawyer’s ex-lovers is also undercover at the location shoot, but Kitzie is investigating a ring of jewel thieves who seem to be operating within the production company. Kitzie is jealous of Sawyer’s interest in Ainsley, and steps way, way, way outside the lines of professionalism in an attempt to sabotage their developing relationship. And in spite of every terrible thing that Kitzie does, in the end she is still one of the “good guys”, for select definitions of both “good” and more obviously “guys”.

The overarching plot that has driven this series, as a counterpoint to Buck Hamilton’s election campaign, is the story of his wife Sarah. As the series began, Sarah, who had been missing and presumed dead for 22 years, returns with no memory of the intervening years. No one seems to trust her and her motives – with good reason.

Sarah led a double-life. Not only did she marry Buck Hamilton and have six children with him, but she was also a notorious terrorist code-named “Red”, at least in college and possibly later. “Red” may have been the true leader of The Prophecy, a terrorist group with ambitions to take out as much of the U.S. government as possible. Sarah doesn’t remember it all. But her ex-lover, and the current leader of the group, Joe Landon, is stalking Sarah and threatening her family if she doesn’t cooperate. And there’s a very, very shady doctor in the background who claims to be the person who removed Sarah’s memories, and who also claims to be able to put them back.

That’s a whole lot of plot for one book. Without the previous background, the separate and unrelated stalkings of Sarah and Ainsley strain credulity. Not having read the previous books put this reader at an extreme disadvantage.

But for those who have been through the whole saga, this feels like just the wrap up they’ve been looking for.

Escape Rating C: In the end, I came to the conclusion that this just wasn’t my cup of tea, which explains why I haven’t read the rest of the series.

It felt like too many long-shot coincidences, and too many subplots and too many perspectives for a single book. Knowing that this is the end of a series makes those things make sense, but it doesn’t work for someone who is not in on all the action.

When it comes to the central love story in Honor Bound, Ainsley and Sawyer’s relationship comes off as a very serious case of insta-love. Not that that doesn’t happen in real life, but they needed a bit more time together for this reader to buy into their romance.

And I’ll admit to a personal pet peeve about 34-year-old virgins. It just didn’t seem realistic, and it made it difficult for me to identify with Ainsley. It made her feel like a throwback to the old days of formula romances, when the heroines were always virgins and the heroes were always experienced. And dominant. As I said, that is very much a personal pet peeve, and your mileage may vary.

To recap from the very beginning of this review – if you are a faithful follower of the series, you will probably want to run and not walk to get to this concluding story. If you are a newbie, this is not the place to start.

I read this in one sitting!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series! This, at #6, is Ainsley's story. Also, a lot of loose ends are tied up nicely, but perhaps not all of the questions have been answered.

Loved the ending! I've gotten to know these characters really well so it's sad to finish this series. Ainsley and Sawyer's story is wonderful. We finally get some closure on a few things hanging from the previous books.

Such a thrilling end to the series. Sarah could save the world. Anisley finds love. I couldn't believe what she has gone thru. Kitzie was trying to hurt Sawyer. She was looking for love in all the wrong places.

This last book repeated a lot of facts from the other books in the series. It caused it to be a little bit tedious! I think Sarah’s mystery could have been sped up by 2 or 3 books, not 7. Love this author anyway!!

One of the worse stories I have read. Couldn't even finish the last few chapters. Good thing I got the book out of a free library and didn't pay for the book. I will never read another book from this author.
