"A very good depiction of how strong, almost blind adherence to seductive, yet irrational political ideology can divide families in desperate straits."

Between the slow pacing, non-existent plot, two-dimensional characters and poor editing, there was really very little that redeemed this book for me. The setting of prewar Berlin was quite convincing.
