A Doctor, A Nurse: A Little Miracle

Rate this book
Nurse Molly Jones had decided that if she ever bumped into Luke Williams again, she'd be superslim, sleek-haired and dressed to impress...

Instead Molly's coming off a night shift in the children's ward, and is slightly the worse for wear when she discovers that Luke is back in town--with his four-year-old twins!

Luke, a single dad and pediatrician, is asdedicated and charming as she remembers. But Molly's heart's been broken twice first when Luke left, and then when she discovered that she'd never be a mom. All she's ever dreamed of is having a family, and Luke makes it all seem possible...especially when Molly realizes they've made a little miracle of their own.

Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.

She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.

Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist).
When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.

I read it into Six Sexy Doctors Part 1. I'm needing some old romance time ;)

The story was easy to read. The doctor was really good and the story flew easy.

Molly was divorced. Richard could not cope with all the medical tests and her inability to have children was not something he could deal with. Five years ago, she was in love with Luke, a doctor at The hospital where she worked. Luke and Amanda had broken up. Then out of nowhere, Luke very cruelly breaks off their relationship and marries Amanda. Molly, to cover her pain, decided that she did not want children and was happy in her job as an RN on the children's ward. Then Luke shows up at her hospital again. Amanda is dead. His mother is helping him raise the twins. Luke is grieving and truly needs a friend. Molly does not want to get involved but she does. Nothing is as it seems. The more help she gives Luke, the more he needs. Is Luke just using her? His life is a Merry go round. Can Molly cope with all the drama? She needs to run.

The plot of this book was just too contrived to accept. 5 years ago nurse Molly Jones was in love with paediatrician Luke Williams but he dumped her & returned to Amanda, his previous girlfriend. In the intervening years Molly married Richard, was unable to conceive & was consequently dumped again a year ago. Luke married Amanda, had twins (now 4yo) & was widowed. Then he shows up at Molly's workplace. As if the past 5 years hadn't been crowded & dramatic enough, now Molly gets involved with Luke again. And his children are horrible to her. She's a glutton for punishment!

Then, in the epilogue, the apparently infertile Molly has a 'magic baby'. Too much!

A Doctor, A Nurse: A Little Miracle

The H in this story had been with the H years before. But he left her for someone else. Now he is back a widow with twins. And he wants her. But she can't forgive or forget what he had done. This was an emotional story. When am is told Will they be able to reconnect and forgive?

If you think this is one where yet another h who can't have children ends up bringing up the H's children with another woman, well this is true. If the epilogue is super cliched, that would be true as well. In fact that spoilt the story for me. But everything else is sooo much more.

At the start I couldn't get over how the h could be so blase over the return of the H who had kicked her to the curb but as the story unfolds we see the flashes of the consequences of the past. I liked her, she wasn't all vengeful, when she possibly should have been. I liked her super recklessness when she falls into a relationship with the H, with a no strings policy. Oh boy, that one scene gave me flashbacks.

It wasn't particularly angsty when it could have been, it stated on the surface rather than being felt deep. The time line seemed off, 5 years from separation to reunion and in that time the h had married, been unsuccessful at having kids and divorced/separated a year, and getting over being ditched by the H. The kids, at 4, were too young to behave in an intentionally hurtful way, but were portrayed as such. I've come across badly behaved 4 year olds but not nasty. Dunno maybe I've been lucky. So those this I just went with.

I liked all the twists and turns this book took, some which could be seen a mile off and some totally unexpected. The latter says a lot for a series romance. Enjoyed this.
