This third book in the series is everything I expected and more. We finally see the end to Caleb, only to learn that it runs much deeper than him. New characters enter the scene and old ones have taken off only to be brought back in right during the thick of things. Amelia and Grant's relationship has moved to the final level, the one where he knows there is no life without her. Although she joins him in his lifestyle earlier in the book, it takes time and patience for her to embrace it, him. And all the while, there's darkness brewing on the outer edges of their relationship without either one being aware. This book keeps you on your toes, wondering what each character may be up to and what part they'll play in the battle you know is coming. Every bit worth the read, and the epilogue is the perfect ending to this amazing trilogy.

February 29, 2016So this is the 3rd and final book of the series and it was amazing. As I was reading this one I felt all kinds of things.
There was action, suspence, love and it left you cheering for the happy ending. Grant and Amelia had many things to face in this
book and almost lost it all at one point, but managed to get through it with the help of the family and some shifters.
So many twists and turn that kept you on the edge of your seat also. It was the perfect ending to this series.

I'm really disappointed with this conclusion to the trilogy. The quest we have been on since book one is quickly wrapped up, but since that would make this book too short we tumble into another conspiracy. In between searching for the bad guys are sex scenes ripped straight out of "Twilight." The conclusion is unsatisfying and the epilogue does not fit at all.
Oh, and what you knew all along was going to happen does occur in this book.
The writing is an absolute mess. We have extra words; missing words; incorrect pronouns and names; missing apostrophes, dashes, and question marks; to written as too, gods written as Gods; split infinitives; incorrect verb tenses; and commas placed seemingly at random. Of course there's still the 'erroneous'. (Periods and commas always go inside single and double quotes in American writing.) Plus there are sentence fragments such as "I can't get it to do anything else. He explained, swiping a hand through it...." My favorite sentence was "I will send them with immortal blood, running through their veins across this country until there is nothing left but carnage." See what an errant comma can do to the meaning?
I read this in two days but wish i had stopped at book two.

The best of the lot with mostly new material and some interesting new characters. Angel's style is so easy to read.

I had heard so many good things about this book series, and the author, before I finally caved in and decided to read the Creature of Habit book series. Admittedly, I was late at getting to the party, but in hindsight I wish I just left the books alone.
Please note this more of a fanfiction than an original idea. The author should have advertised this, but chose not to, which I find very misleading!
This is the last installment of Amelia & Grants story, and personally I had to drag myself through the entire book. Unfortunately, I couldn't just skip it because I know I'd always wonder what had happened then, did I give up too quickly and so on! As karma would have it, I disliked this one the most. Within the last 20% of the book a plot, in the plot, is revealed and you have so much information pushed on you, that it's impossible to absorb it all before something new is revealed. Therefore, I was so very surprised to see that the author took the time to write an epilogue for these 2 love birds, instead of focusing more on the story she must have been dying to tell.
If you're already invested in the book I'd recommend to finish it, but i wouldn't recommend starting it.

Amelia Chase is now a fledgling vampire! It was the only way Grant could keep her 'alive'. She is overwhelmed by sensory overload and physical imbalance. With additional strength and bodily prowess, she is learning daily funtionality. Grant in his territorial and possessive desires, wants to be the one to teach Amelia and get her through this process.
Sebastian is still missing! He has gone rogue and is leaving a trail of carnage in his wake! Even though the bodies are of vamps carelessly making fledglings, and haphazardly killing humans, his mtehods are sloppy and putting the family in jeopardy with the Council.
The Council is interested in Grant and his fledgling Amelia. They have their own plans for the couple...
The family has at maximum 48 hours to find Sebastian and whomever else is involved in the littering of bodies up and down the coastline; and why is Amelia having memory lapses???

Pretty good
This book was strange to me because I almost felt like it was two separate books until the storylines merged. Finally everything started to fit. I also was getting tired of the dual POV. Sometimes I would forget whose POV I was reading and get confused. However, I did like this one better than the second book. I enjoyed vampire Amelia more than human Amelia.

Amazing
I absolutely loved reading this book! The while series is amazing. Grant and Amelia are very irresistible and addictive! I would love to read additional stories on the other characters like Adam and Ryan.

Nice closure for the series
Interesting way for the series to end. Fast paced, action, and changes to the family dynamic. Some of the issues surrounding Sebastian didn't really make sense. That epilogue though- funny and a good fit.

Half way through the book it ended, only it didn't. It continued on a side story I hadn't seen coming. Though I enjoyed where it went and what the author was trying to do, it made the story seemed fragmented.

The whole series kept me on the edge of my chair. I plan on continuing reading the next book about Ryan, and truly hoping that the story continue on through the whole coven and maybe the shifters story as well.

This is the third book in a steamy cliffhanger saga series, as such, you need to read books 1 and 2 first. This book is divided into 3 parts and wow. I totally did not expect things to go the way they did. Lots of suspense and danger and a huge, interconnected web. Nonstop action and adventure.

Spoilers!! I did not like the ending to this series. This book worked for me until the the end. First problem: There are two brother vampires (side characters & family members to Grant, the "hero" of the series) that were turned in a brutal way long ago. The vampire that "turned" them, Emmanuel, killed their mother (a prostitute) while torturing her & draining her. One brother, Ryan, was forced to watch while the vampire proceeded to rape & torture the other brother, Sebastian. He then turned them both & left...or so we thought.
Understandably, the brother who was brutalized the most, Sebastian, is forever tormented & is known to "disappear" for various amounts of time. We only learn this from Ryan in the third book. In book 3 he is again missing in action. We find out at the end of the story that he has been "in love" with Emmanuel, the vampire that turned him & his brother! He's been "disappearing" to be with him! The vampire that tortured & killed his mother. The vampire that raped & tortured him. The vamp that turned him & his brother into killers (when they first turned they killed people). To make things further confusing, Emmanuel is also one of the "bad guys" that Grant, Amelia, & the family have been fighting against all along!
Now, it's important to note that Emmanuel can use his mind to control your actions-what you say & do. He cannot, however, force you to FEEL anything against your will. Your mind & heart are always your own-you just can't show it on the outside. So, I get that Sebastian had no choice but to help his creator. And it's clear that he doesn't want to hurt Amelia or his family. However, I do not understand how he can love the monster! He even risks his life to save Emmanuel in the very end, of his own free will. We're left to believe that they both died together or somehow survived & ran off together. Either way, it just doesn't make sense to me & it ruins the ending for me.
If the author explained it somehow-maybe I could let it go. It would have to be one hell of an explanation, but maybe. The problem was that the author didn't even try to explain any of it. To make matters worse, Ryan gets angry at Grant & Amelia for letting Sebastian try to save Emmanuel. He then leaves the family! That's how the book ends.
The second problem I have: There is a ruby necklace that the heroine, Emelia wears. It has magic in it from her dead friend. She was wearing it when she "died" and was turned. Everyone believes that the magic from the ruby is the reason she still has a heart beat (a slower one) when vampires don't have heart beats at all. It's made clear that having a heart beat makes her hard to resist to vampires. That puts her, and by extension, Grant & his family, in danger. I understand that Grant enjoys hearing her heart beat, but surely not enough to risk her life. So WHY does she keep wearing the necklace? She finally takes it off in the end but...why did she wait till then? After all the extra trouble it brought them all? I just don't get it? Again, I really feel like the author should have explained that...
If it's a major issue that can cause danger & possible death to the characters or cause a character to behave in a way that just doesn't add up-please just explain it. That's all I ask. I did enjoy the series & I really like the flow of the authors writing. She just leaves to many gaps & unanswered questions for me. The ending was so disappointing...

Not a great addition. There was great expectations for this follow on from the original fanfiction. It didn't really add anything fantastic to the storyline and felt more like the twilight series than the original fanfic (first 2 books). For someone who's be so critical of others publishing their original stories, using the names and relationships from twilight fanfic, you'd expect the plot to lead as far away from the original source material as possible.
I'm more than willing to overlook things authors say and do to others in real life if they can create something as profound as their beliefs. That's not the case here and for the lovers of the original fic, you won't be missing much by not picking this one up.
Not awful by any means but reads flat and predictable and its lost the raw romance that first attracted me to the fanfic. Read the first two by all means if you miss the fic. Not a terrible series but unfortunately, forgettable.

I loved this series, the whole thing. I sincerely loved it the first time I read it years ago but the rewrite was nothing short of awesome.
Watching Amelia and Grant's love story play out in their own way was nothing short of amazing. The way Amelia handled herself with shapeshifters, vampires, and the in between she never gave up. Even when it affected her in the negative, and Grant didn't always handle himself with grace. It was almost comical at times watching him get upset.
I love Angel's stories, always have always will...even her alternate egos are amazing. Take a chance and check her out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

16th November 2018 - Still not entirely satisfied with this ending on a re-read.
Amelia seems to have a total character change after being turned and it felt really jarring to the story. I can't get over Sebastian's story in this and the conclusion is highly disturbing and unlikely. A lot of unanswered questions and i don't feel entirely satisfied after finishing this.
A good series to binge if a few inconsistencies but overall enjoyable.

Not a satisfying end to the trilogy and a fair bit rushed in places also a bit confusing as for characters reasons for their actions.
All in all not a great trilogy.

Part 1 was good.

An excellent and thrilling conclusion to this saga.
Excellent characters.Some that are down right creepy and crazy, others you just can't help but love.
Thank you Angel Lawson for bringing your characters to life and sharing them with the world.

disappointing which is a huge shame. Wished I'd stopped reading at book 2. this addition didn't do anything for me. really gutted as I loved the original story and the romance within it. was totally lost in here.

An action packed finish to the trilogy, very readable and page turnery. Our favourite characters are explored more in depth while not compromising the pacing of the story.
