Winter Storms

This book was so depressing and unrealistic. Since when have the Amish become Meteorologists? If you know a winter storm is coming, why would you risk your whole family dying of hypothermia. This was not a good book, and I had to start over several times just to figure out who was who. The grammatical errors and editing were awful. I would not recommend this book, unless you're storm enthusiasts.

Not up to the usual standards

I’ve read several books by Rachel and have enjoyed them, but this one wasn’t the best. There were several editing/proofreading errors. The endless cycle of bad storms seemed excessive, with the main characters just barely able to get their buggies into the barn…until one family doesn’t. And the book ends very abruptly. Sorry, but this is not one I can recommend.

Nice story, editing problems

Nice story about a PA Amish community during a hard winter of blizzards and illness and how the coped. I think the story is 4 stars but the editing is terrible; mid conversation names are switched to people not in the room during the conversation. You have to keep your wits about you sometimes to follow the story due to these errors.

This the first in a group of three short stories that follow an Amish community. This first books takes place during the winter. During a Sunday meeting a storm arrives and keeps everyone from going home. This wouldn't be a big deal except that one of the young girls arrived to the meeting with the flu. Being cooped up in the same home for several days caused the flu and another stomach bug to run rampant. One of the boys who has asthma was taken seriously ill and could have died.

It was a pretty good story.

The Amish that live in Pennsylvania accept the harsh winter as part of God's test of their faith, as they endure a very harsh winter in Living Amish ~ Winter of Faith. Not only is the weather a challenge but flu and illness spreads throughout the community; meetings and school is suspended until the series of storms ends and the illness runs its course. It is a realistic look at a community that works to keep out of mainstream American life but still faces unique challenges and problems from within for an interesting look into the culture of the Amish.

I've read a lot of Amish fiction and this one just didn't hold up to the rest I've read. Not very well written and story really dragged on.

Great read! There were a lot of characters in this book, but I liked the story and didn't have trouble keeping track at all. Really heartwarming Amish life and community!
