I loved almost all of this book. Even though it states several times that the book is written to empower black women, specifically, it is a valuable resource to any disenfranchised woman. I'm amazed by her strength. I found myself writing my own story in the margins of hers, shocked at the similarities. The only problem I had with the book was the abrupt ending. I would have liked a little bit more, if only I could have closure that she did, in fact, beat her demons and become whole. I know that she is certainly successful now, so that helps, but I still felt it was an abrupt ending to an otherwise beautiful story of hope and courage.

A very good read if you want to delve deep inside yourself - makes you confront things that you would rather deny or pretend did not exist. Very thought-provoking. The main character was very interesting, but there were times that I got frustrated when she made the same mistakes over and over. I didn't like the ending though - I thought it was too abrupt; I was expecting more.

This is a masterwork. It is a shame that she doesn’t promote this text. I loved it.
