OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

Whenever we plan our holiday, we always make sure we buy a lonely planet book before we do anything.
They are full of information and are always useful both in the planning stage at home and also when you’re actually on holiday.
We’ve been using them for years, and they just seem to get better and better.
For the price you pay, it’s an invaluable resource and is useful to find out things that aren’t obvious, or maybe even hidden when you actually get to your location.

It is a bit basic and only covers the main cities (although there are a few words on other areas). It was nevertheless useful for my trip and I suggest it if you are not planning an in depth exploration of the island.

I didn't find this book useful. It had some interesting basic information, but as a guide, it didn't help me at all.
