It's been seven years. Seven years since The Bleach Killer was arrested. Seven years since Matt and Sunshine Everly's world came crashing down on them. Seven years since Nick Fulton was released from jail. It took Matt and Sunshine years to re-build their lives and put the murders behind them. Just when it seems life will be easy going the past comes back to haunt them.
When Nick left Lincoln bound for a new life in a new town, he knew his purpose, carry on his mentor's traditions. With a new identity, new job, and a new family, Nick begins to feed his darkness, but will his past threaten his demented future?
I was born and raised in the small town of Klamath Falls. It is there that I met my husband and had my first two children. In 1999 we left Klamath Falls, headed towards Portland. I have since had one more child and have settled in Newberg. I worked as a waitress in a French Bistro for nearly five years before quitting to help care for my ill grandmother. It was during my care of her that I decided to go to school for Medical Assisting. I had planned on continuing onto nursing, but landed a job with a Dr. I highly admire in a practice that I love, that has trained me beyond my schooling. In the nearly five years that I have been employed there, I have spent a large amount of time commuting. During those times I would spin many stories in my mind with the intention of writing them down. I have always loved to write, but have ventured away from it due to lack of time and life. The story of Neveah and Lilly stuck with me and I decided to write it down. I never intended for it to go this far, or become a full fledged story that I would be so proud of. I look forward to seeing where this journey leads me!
Different.......yet interesting. You may need to read the previous book to connect the dots, but I got it even without reading book 1.
It does touch on some uncomfortable situations, plus I really didn't want to be in Nick's mind. But days later I'm thinking I have got to read some nonsensical romance book to get him out of my mind.
A very psychotic and dark read. Nate AKA Nick Fulton AKA Luna Tick has a monster he has to feed. He feeds by f&@king and then killing drug whores. Nate is also a police officer. By being on patrol, Nate finds his prey.
Matt and Sunshine Everly has had experience with Nick Fulton. Seven years prior Nick kidnapped Sunshine to pay back Matt for being with Shannon, Nick's wife.
While in prison, Nick had a conversation with the Bleach Killer who he found out killed his wife Shannon. Instead of getting mad, Nick used the Bleach Killer as a mentor. Nick made it a point to rebuild his life so he could continue to get rid of drugged whores like the Bleach Killer.
This story was very fast paced. This story has some disturbing characters- Nate and his wife. If you like dark intense stories then this is for you.
This is the first book I have read by author Angie Merriam and I wasn't disappointed. I am giving Luna Tick a 3.5 rating. The story flowed well, I liked the most of the main characters and really enjoyed the subsidiary characters and found myself wanting to know more about them.
Nick Fulton is quite the character, I never considered him crazy, even though he is a serial killer, while reading the book but something endeared me to him. I found myself rooting for him and really wishing that he got his HEA once he came to realize what he had with his new life.
Matt & Sunshine, I just didn't really care for them. I liked that Sunshine was a bit spunky and stood her ground but often times felt Matt was just whipped and not in a good way. Obviously, he made some mistakes and pledged to spend the rest of his married life groveling. I will say that later in the book, he redeemed himself when he "manned" up and proved that he had a set.
The overall story was a good one, I was interested in the plot throughout the whole book. I was waiting for him to get caught, then thinking he wasn't getting caught, I never expected it to end the way it did. The twists the author put in this story were good ones and the story line captured my attention all the way through to the end.
So why the 3.5 rating...
1) Some of the details in the story didn't make sense. I found myself flipping back several times to clear up confusing parts of the story. *Note: I just realized there was a first book to this, I think with reading that first a lot of the confusion wouldn't have happened.
2) The sex scenes with Sunshine & Matt just seemed awkwardly placed to me. There was nothing building up to it, kind of like "we're alone and there could be a serial killer after us, let's have sex." So it kind of seemed like it was being placed in just for the purpose of having sex in the story that wasn't violent and leading up to death. lol
I would definitely say that reading the first book and then following up with this one, you won't be disappointed in this story at all. I read a lot of dark books and this one was just mildly so, even with the few disturbing scenes. The author did a good job working those in such a way that it wouldn't be too graphic or hard on the reader. I will be keeping my eyes out for future works by this author!!
OMGosh there isn't possibly enough good things that i can say about this book! The first book in this series had me completely hooked on Summer and Matt Everly and their love concurs all story. They faced so much heartbreak and destruction in the first book and faced down a serial killer that made them see that they were meant to be together and that they were stronger as a couple then either of them had ever thought they were.
This second book has them facing the same serial killer mind but in another persons skin...a childhood friend that was taught and instructed by the evil man who tried to tear apart their lives and love in the first book. This killer has even more motive tho and a truly sick and twisted mind.
I dont know how Angie does it but she really pulls you into the mind of a serial killer and has you understanding how a twisted and demented mind really works. For a while i actually found myself feeling sorry for Nick the Luna Tick murderer and making excuses for his behavior lol.
Then Matt and Summer were introduced again and Angie pulls you into the amazing love between Nick and Summer, and you feel his unbreakable devotion to Sunshine and their children. Matt will do anything to keep the smile on Sunshine's face, the joy in her heart and to keep her safe in his arms.
*** I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review. Here is that review.***
This was my first time reading a book by Angie Merriam, and I have to say, I really liked her style of writing and her thinking! Luna Tick was a very different kind of book than I have ever read before. It's not a dark read, but it definitely crosses some lines and tests some boundaries. but in the best kind of way. Like it was a guilty pleasure, my dirty little secret.
Nick Fulton is a complicated man. And even tho he is battling some major demons, I couldn't help but feel for him. He was deep and twisted and tortured. And I was routing for him.
But his unhinged past comes back to haunt and destroy his deranged present and threatens to take away the little piece of normalcy he has finally found again.
I gave Luna Tick 3.5 stars. It was really good. I really liked the story line. The characters were believable and likable. And it had some hot sex scenes too! Definitely would recommend it!
I am so happy that there is a follow up to You Are My Sunshine. To know that Nick moved on after being let out of prison and ended up changing his identity in order to fulfill the evil side of himself but still be an "upstanding" citizen, but with a different name and in a different city. Who'd of thought that he would have actually gone through with it. He always stated he had unfinished business and it came to an end that I wasn't expecting..... well, at least part of it I wasn't expecting. Is there another killer lurking in the background or will the Everlys be able to finally move on with their lives?
I was gifted a copy in exchange for honest review:
First off let me say that if you need to read YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE to get the importance of certain aspects of this book. Had I not read the first book then I would not understand how the different characters connected or how they affected each other in general. Reference to the Bleach Killer would have no meaning without the first book.
That being said: Luna Tick is suspenseful, dark, and deranged. All this in a well written tale of deceit, evilness, and revenge. I feel as if this book was a bit darker than the first book and may not be for everyone. Due to mature content it is recommended for readers over 18.
Loved it,couldn't stop reading or put it down! Action packed and laced with super steamy sex! Passionate love and dedicated drive from the characters! Recommended for a great read!
