He's got the whole package: blonde hair, piercing blue eyes.. killer lips.
He's absolutely swoon-worthy.
Too bad his personality is so full of shit.
Daniel Kerrington is arrogant. Cocky. Insufferable. A walking one nightstand.
Ever since our horrible encounter two months ago, we have pretty much established the fact that we hate each other. So there's no reason for the both of us to cross paths anymore, right?
Wrong.
Now that my parents' company has gone bankrupt, they have to turn to his father for help. Harry Kerrington offers to help the company and my parents on one condition: I'm to be engaged to his son.
So basically I'm thrown together with the guy I loathe for the next three years of my life.
Daniel and I have to push our feelings of mutual hatred aside and play our own part in making our fake engagement believable. We've got a lot to do if we want to make this work.
But little did we know that we would be so wrapped up in our very own perfect illusion.
Claudia Tan is a new adult romance writer, graduating from Lancaster University with a BA in English Literature & History. She is the author of the massively popular ‘Perfect’ series on Wattpad. Since posting the series online, it has accumulated a total of 170 million reads combined and nabbed the People’s Choice Award in the Wattys competition in 2015 and 2016. Perfect Addiction has been optioned by Constantin Films and Wattpad WEBTOON Studios to be made into film, starring Ross Butler, Kiana Madeira and Matthew Nozska.
Perfect Illusion, is available for purchase as a Kindle and Perfect Addiction, will be released as a physical copy in July 2022.
When she’s not playing matchmaker between swoon-worthy men and badass female leads who put them in their place, she can typically be seen strumming on her ukulele, writing sad love songs and binge-watching ‘Friends’. ‘Perfect Addiction’, the second novel to the ‘Perfect’ series, is her most successful novel and loved by millions.
The only reason why I picked this up is because I have an arc of the second book. They can be read as standalones, but I wanted to check out what happened before just in case and I wish I hadn't.
This is just so surface level that I can't handle any more of it. The pace is relatively fast, where we see how they first met, and how suddenly they're forced to be engaged to each other even though they're enemies.
I say enemies loosely, because I didn't feel that at all. And despite the pace the book was dull, I kept wanting it to end. Hopefully I'll have more luck with the second one, because this was not it at all.
1 2 3 *screams* THIS BOOK WAS BLOODY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IIT JUST TOOK MY BREATH AWAY,SHATTERED MY HEART INTO A BILLION TINY PIECES,NOT BILLION BUT ZILLION!! I SIMPLY DIED!!!!!!!;-)
I don't know. Read this if you're in the mood for a complicated romantic couple/situation (or, IMO, an overly dramatic borderline ridiculous and annoying love story). My problem with most wattpad stories is the underdeveloped characters and settings; there's usually no real notion of time and the overall story is just predictable and angsty. I guess you'll like it if you're into that sort of thing. This just wasn't my cup of tea and didn't help my reading slump at all- if anything, it made it worse.
Ps: Why does everyone think that the "You are mine" line is so romantic and swoon-worthy? Just feels possessive and creepy to me *cough*especially when they've only known each other for a week*cough*
Honestly i couldnt connect with the book, first of all no way the characters were 18! Couldnt buy it! They seemed well in their 20s Secondly the plot was too cheesy for my taste and and the drama didnt seem real. It was well written though and maybe someone who's looking for something simple would enjoy it
Y’ALL ARE NOT READY FOR THIS BOOK! This was literally my first wattpad book and to hold it now in my kindle is unbelievable! I literally wanted to cry when I saw it was getting published.
DANIEL DANIEL DANIEL! This man- wow. I’m telling you guys, you aren’t ready. The banter, the forced proximity, the love hate relationship…. ITS THERE AND YOU’LL LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT. I didn’t think it was possible for Claudia to make this book better, but somehow she did.
If you like arranged engagement, enemies to lovers, college romance this one is for you!
*THIS COMES OUT SEPT 21* This was a fun read! Perfect Illusion follows Alex, a college student, who gets involved in an arranged engagement with playboy Daniel Kerrington. She hates him because he’s incredibly condescending and hates how he treats women and he hates her because she tried to ruin every single date he’s gone on (lol)+ their dads have beef. I honestly loved reading about them because they were just so fun. They hate each other but there’s like this weird attraction they both feel and you see it grow stronger the more they spend time together. Daniel becomes very protective over Alex and wants to give her everything she deserves and I LOVED THAT. They get to know each other on such a deeper and more personal level that they realize they misjudged each other in the beginning. As well as watching their relationship grow, these characters grow individually. They show how strong they are and take leadership of their own lives and I WAS WAITING FOR THIS HAPPEN! It was just really fulfilling to read about how they’re going to take charge. I honestly LOVED Daniel. I loved his attention to detail and how caring he was and just getting to know the real him. Reformed playboy has my heart and this didn’t miss. I just wish we got his POV omg!! I adored their relationship with each other and I loved their best friends!! They added a lot of life to the book and I enjoyed the four of them being together. I wish we had a little bit more of that tension and longing around 60-70% into the book, but overall I really enjoyed this! There were also a few plot twists that caught me off guard! I recommend reading if you love enemies to lovers, reformed playboy, arranged engagement, “I wasn’t supposed to fall for you but I did,” strong heroine, and a protective/jealous hero. Thank you @claudiaaatan for providing me with an ARC for an honest review 🤍 You can pre-order this now on Amazon!
the original was WAY better im disappointed:( the plot was drastically changed and was rushed for some reason. a lot of my favorite little details about the book were omitted and the slow burn isnt there anymore;( im sad to see this honestly
I would say that this is one of the most confusing books I’ve ever read. Also there character arcs are all over the place. Most of the plot points happen completely out of the blue. The ending makes no sense whatsoever. Overall would not recommend to anyone that likes reading books that make sense.
I first read this book on Wattpad, years ago! I loved the plot and the characters! The ending and the start of their relationship is adorable. Begins as an enemies to friends to lovers!
Where do I even start with this masterpiece of a story 😍
I read Alex and Daniel's story years ago, it was one of the first stories I came across when I discovered @wattpad in grade 11.
Alex and Daniel's banter had me laughing so much!😂 To watch their relationship progress from start to finish was absolutely beautiful. I literally could not put this book down! 😁
And to see how far this story has come makes me so proud! The entire Perfect series by @claudiaaatan is absolutely amazing!❤️
@claudiaaatan you are an absolutely talented author ❤️and I hope this entire series gets the recognition it deserves!👏
AAAH to be honest, this was one of my favourite serieses back when I would read purely Wattpad novels. I feel like this book got actually published (and so, I'm assuming was heavily edited?) but I couldn't find it so I just reread it on Wattpad.
There were a lot of plot holes and a lot of the issues could have been developed more to show the characters' complexities, but I didn't go in expecting something so complicated especially since I'd consider this (and the rest of the series) as YA - content-wise at least (I forgot if the characters are 20+ or 18-19 since they're in college oops).
I'm most definitely biased just because this series really reminds me of the found family trope in the addicted and calloway sisters series by KB Ritchie. I remember reading A Perfect Christmas and crying so hard. I love dalex, but I know that they could have been developed a lot more - their story is still pretty shallow and superficial. I think that Claudia's writing is really good though and not the 'cringe-cliche' one I usually seen in Wattpad books (although there were some such moments...).
I actually rate this around a 3.5 so I just rounded it up to a 4. It's a quick, simple read and it's really feel-good. If I remember correctly, Claudia's writing really developed especially for Perfect Addiction so I'll be rereading the rest of the books too hehe.
Stopped reading the book once I realised that the female MC is a virgin. Alex works extremely hard to keep up her grades that she has no time to make friends let alone date while Daniel easily maintains a GPA of 4.0 while sleeping around. Must be nice to be a man!
Nothing wrong with being a virgin but how on earth do they always all end up with men who have slept with half the female population?!
How about a book with a virgin male MC and a woman who is making the best of all the beautiful men and women around her? Any recommendations, let me know?
Booktok be damned for his reconstructions.
Books with virgin female Main characters should come with a warning!!

its crazy to think that about two years ago i actually loved this book and now, i can't stand it. I am glad my taste buds have expanded because this book is not it. Sure, it had its funny moments, I actually was laughing out loud in the early pages but too much clicheness and things that the characters did that I could not support. I know its a wattpad book so its not offically published, and maybe if it does get published it will be better but for now this is a NO for me. However, I can't lie that Alex and Daniel will always hold a little part of my heart.
They are everywhere! The virgins and the manwhores. It's disgusting and it's always toxic, because how can it not.
There is really nothing to like about Daniel. Arrogant, cocky, self-centered manwhore untill he changed and told her he likes and loves her after fucking someone else while they are in the same house. Bleh. Alex had some spine, but falling for a guy like Daniel and in the blink of an eye is really not it. His redeeming scenes at the end where just to fictional.
SUCH a good story. I love Dalex's relationship and Claudia's writing. Everything about this book was so perfect ;) 5/5 just couldn't stop turning the pages.
This book was good. The wittiness between the main couple was hilarious, but with that being said, for 20 year olds, the predominant reason why they became ‘enemies’ was VERY childish. There was a massive exploration into parenting, masculinity, friendships (and what exactly constitutes a ‘relationship’), and over-bearing parents.
This wasn’t just as light-hearted romcom, although it does definitely have a HEA. But, I loved the mix of real life problems, and the inclusion of sweet, albeit cringy, resolutions. *I’m looking at the ending here*.
I was entranced by the flawed natures of both Daniel and Alex, and the dominating trope of ‘someone being more than what they seem to be on the surface’ is always swoon-worthy to me. I just wish that we got a bit more of Daniel’s more hidden past. Yes, this book is written in the perspective of Alex, but I just felt constantly intrigued by Daniel’s own hidden trauma, and I wish we got more of that.
THANK U CLAUDIA TAN FOR GIVING ME AN ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!
I really enjoyed this book a lot. I do feel like it was similar stories I’ve read where the 2 MCs can’t stand each other and there’s conflict between family businesses. This one was done really well and I liked the slow burn. I do wish there was even more tension but nonetheless I enjoyed it very much. Alex and Daniel were very much on a thin line of love/hate and it’s really interesting how you can assume you know a person until you actually know them. I loved this relationship and how it blossomed. I would really love to read more about them to see what the future holds for them!!
This book is an enemies to lovers/forced engagement/forced proximity type of book that you should check out.
Spice meter: 🌶️🌶️/5
Focuses more on the plot but the sex scenes are a nice way for the characters to build an intimate connection
I loved the romance, the cheese and the emotional pull this book has on the reader. I especially enjoyed that it doesn't have fade-to-black bedroom scenes and that the characters communicate with each other. The writing was great, I only wish it was a little less tell and a little bit more show.
I actually cried at one of the later chapters because I felt for the characters so much. And I loved the chemistry between Alex and Daniel.
I've been trying to finish the book for days, but I can't. If I were fifteen again I may liked it but that's not the case. It doesn't have an actual devolvement, it's like they went from enemies to lovers for live in a flip, one day to another. I think this would be good if the writer gived more devolvement to the characters.
TikTok really failed me this time. I can’t believe how bad this book was. Alex is hands down the most annoying character I’ve ever read about, someone really needed to shake some sense into her (the Nate thing? really… that was fucked up and MADE NO SENSE, and then she tried to act like she was just trying to be friendly… bitch, you’re fooling no one). There was this whole conversation about her thinking Daniel didn’t deserved her… but from where I’m standing it seems like Daniel was way too good for her and not the other way around. Not to say Daniel’s character was any better, he was hot but still nothing to write poems about. The lack of depth in these characters really made it an even worse read, for real. Fake dating is my favorite trope and I still couldn’t enjoy this one bit.
Can we also talk about how Cara was the worst friend ever? She forced Alex to go to a party where she knew no one and proceeded to leave her alone after one second of arriving because she needed to say hi to some people… couldn’t Alex go with her? And I’m not even gonna get into the scene where they went dress shopping, smh.
