Porschia Grant is in Frenzy. The hunger is constant. It’s all-consuming, as is the pain and sickness. Something went wrong when she turned. Perhaps it was the fact that an infected bit her moments before, or maybe it’s something else entirely.
One thing is certain, if Porschia can’t learn to feed, she will die. If she can’t learn to control her extreme emotional swings, she will kill someone. And that would destroy her.
How long can the night-walkers keep her turning a secret from the Colony? Will Saul stand beside her now that she’s changed? And what will happen when she re-enters the forest?
RONE Award-winning author Casey Bond lives on a rural farm in West Virginia with her husband and their two beautiful daughters. She writes phoenixes – gloriously flawed and morally gray characters that fiercely rise from the ashes of their circumstances.
Worldbuilding is one of her favorite pastimes. She thinks thunderstorms are better than coffee and that watching a meteor shower is the closest thing to magic you might ever see. She’s a firm believer that every amazing book needs a world you want to wrap yourself in, a character you want to win, and a love you would fight for.
Casey is the author of When Wishes Bleed, Gravebriar, House of Eclipses, and Where Oceans Burn.
I just have no idea what is going on with this series. It feels like it’s kinda flip flopping around trying to find a direction to settle on. I had assumed that this would be an easy read because each books is so short but my reading speed has slowed way down since I started reading this series. I think I may come back to this at a later date. To be clear I’m not saying it’s bad, Casey Bond has an incredible talent for writing captivating characters & stories even if some of the technical elements need some work. For example there was some bad editing in places, in terms of continuity of small details, but what do I know I’m no writer. So now I’m kinda rambling...
OMG. I was in a reading slump but this series has awaken my book nerd soul. I started Frantic last night. Read 95 pages. Begrudgingly went to work today and only read on my lunch hour. Finally got home and finished. It called to me all day. I love it when a book/series captivates me like this has.
What I Enjoyed: -Learning more about the Nightwalkers, and the fact that Porshia is different from any nightwalker so far. -Tage. I am liking this vampire more and more as this story goes on. Not sure who the love interest will be eventually, and I like that as well. -The drama between Porshia and the other nightwalkers, and Porshia and the town elders. -Being in Porshia's head while she is transitioning was interesting. You don't get to see the mental struggle of new vampires only the physical. -Still a very interesting plot and that cliffhanger ending was great. Excited to learn more as I continue the series.
The audiobooks are pretty good. I am still having issues liking Porshia, but she is becoming stronger as the story goes on.
Frantic picks up where Frenzy left off so read Frenzy first so you know what's going on.
This series just gets better and better so of course I wasn't disappointed! Full of twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This author simply has a way with words and world building that will keep you coming back for more. Be prepared for one hell of a vampiric ride!!
It has been some time since a book has had me reading during the day and absolutely inhaling it. After that crazy ending with FRENZY, I was so very eager to get started on this one that I immediately got KU and downloaded the series. I plan to devour as much of it as possible this weekend.
From beginning to end, I was completely caught up in this amazing story and equally amazing characters. I love that Porschia’s character has gotten better with her transformation to Vampire and I cannot wait to see what comes next for her. She is rather fierce and a bit scary at times. Tage has really grown on me since we were first introduced to him. Although I don’t care much for Saul, I loved how he hasn't given up on Porschia.
Two books into a six book series and I am a complete and utter basket case. I have learned with this book I seriously have no business trying to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys. I have gone from gushing about Roman in my review of FRENZY to no longer liking him. I now like me some Tage. I should probably have some cares for Saul but I just don’t. My heart belongs to Tage. I am pretty sure my feelings will change with the next book. Cannot wait to see which guy I adore next.
Suspenseful, emotional, and captivating...once again, Bond had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails to the quick as I read!! I am beyond excited for what is to come after another fabulous and startling ending. 5 Stars!!
Not as good as the first but quite an unexpected ending
This one got on a small nerve. There was a lot of talking. Like. This. And unnecessary yelling and babe calling. I get it the main character was going through a big change so her emotions were all over the place. But all the aggravated yelling and caps and whatnot was annoying. I also disliked how everyone kept saying the change brought on crazy mood swings, Especially for females. Like eff you not all female hormones are imbalanced. And the author is a female so she should know that's not true. There was also too much babe calling. I get it, this book is geared to the younger crowed. But there's so many more endearing words to use than the annoying overused babe. Also, these characters don't hardly know each other yet they're 'in love' and babeing. Ugh. But of course the ending was a cliffhanger so you know I'll still have to read the next one.
Please read Frenzy before you read Frantic they really need to be read in order.
This is such a good story. It is a unique take one vamps and zombies in a dystopian world. As long as you don't like your vamps to sparkle cause you wont find that here.
Sometimes you read and can see the story play out and others it can feel like you are part of the story that is playing out. I really can envision this story with me in it and get the all the feels, I love that!
I am really liking all these characters. I am a total #TeamTage! I wanna see him with the girl but hey that's just me. The unique spin on Prochia's vampirism and how she "eats" is pretty cool. Her mom well she got what she deserved.. I am definitely more curious about the infected and their side though. I am still curious about what Roman's intentions are. I don't see it being anything good though. I am very anxious to where Casey will take it in the next book.
This second book in the Frenzy series draws you into the drastic changes that Porschia Grant is under going after been bitten by her infected sister and then drinking Tage’s blood from the ring to save herself. The tension rises as her change seems to be taking an unusual route and her survival is in question. The intrigue, danger and action in this book keeps you glued to the pages. The caring that Tage and Saul show, the obsessiveness of Roman, the uncertainty of who can be trusted, the deception, betrayal, and mystery in the story is enthralling. I loved how the story was told from different POVs and that the interaction between the night-walkers, the infected and the humans is dynamic and was portrayed well by the narrator of the audiobook. You do need to read this series in order to be able to fully understand what is happening in this dystopian world of vampires, zombies and humans. I can not wait to listen to the next book in the series.
Ugh. So, I carried on reading this series with high hopes that the writing style and flow would revert back to how it was at the start of Frenzy. It didn't. Porschia's moods just flipped all over the place and it was hard to follow the reasoning behind a lot of her behaviour. I GET she's supposed to have a hair thin trigger, but it just didn't feel authentic. It felt contrived and like the author had to overextend some of her style to reach a goal she had in mind, but always fell short. I don't have a clue if that makes sense to anyone but me.
There's so much potential with this story idea! I'm frustrated and want to pull at my hair because it just isn't what I hoped. Am I a sucker for punishment!? I want to keep reading. Maybe this is a lull? I KNOW Casey L. Bond is capable of weaving a greater tale! Frenzy started out so good! Argh!! I'll give this series one more try, by reading the next one. I NEVER "try" this hard to keep going. Fingers crossed.
I couldn't finish the book. Got to 42%. I tried. I really did. So unfortunate. I thought the second book would be better than the first, there was so much material to work with. Honestly it was disappointing and as a reader I feel let down. The dialogue was like watching a really low budget film with really bad acting. So many things contradicted each other. Porschia was too weak to walk but could tear a cell apart? The characters are not developed, they accept any explanation about anything when there could be so much more to expand. I'm sad. I was really looking forward to this, there was so much to work with but just kinda fell flat. Too hurried, too many things happen so fast, no back story or real character development. Gah I'm upset! I was looking forward to this! Maybe I just wasn't feeling the story. I will for sure check out the other books by the author.
Must read series!! Frantic is the perfect title for this book! That word perfectly describes the emotions swarming frantically inside as this tale unwinds. Frenzy was a great beginning, but Frantic takes us deeper into this strange world of vampire, human, & the infected. The plot has thickened as we realized everything was not as it appeared from any side, & yet there is so much more to discover. Off to book 3 I go!!! Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Also....the audio performance was even better on this one than the last. No more of the oddly timed volume changes by the narrator. I enjoyed her tones for each of the different characters more in this book as well.
This is obviously meant for pre-teen readers. Everyone loves the same girl, who doesn't seem to be very lovable. She fell in love with Saul in a couple of days and they decided to get married. And when Tage kisses her - she loves her lips back and force appropriately( duh?)
Stupid, inane, and sentences 6 words long.
This feels like it has turned into the Wahhhh me story with everyone loving the whiner.
Porschia has turned but she's not quite right. As she does through frenzy she seems to have more control among other differences. There's a lot of fighting and drama with her and Dara. Porschia seems to have caught interest from 3 guys. The murders in the colony has been solved and other problems arise as Roman's leadership is on the line. Awesome read! Another cliff hanger though and I can't wait to read the rest!
3.5* this book jumps around quite a bit. The author starts down a storyline or character development then leaves it, too many turns or the start of character motivations that are not explored or explained. Bones of an interesting storyline but not well fleshed out or stuck with for me to continue this series.
Portia is trying to adjust to the turn and losing everyone she loves. But something is wrong and she can’t keep anything down. She finds help in the last place she would have looked but will she be able to help those she loves as they become targets of the infected??
Omg this is the continuation to the first book Frenzy. I am loving listening to this narration of Casey L. Bonds series. I am loving Porchia journey and her struggles are emotionally all over. I love the way this is coming together. I am enjoying all the ins and outs and the hidden secrets slowly coming about. can't wait for the next one. this is a great read and I can't wait for my next fixed.
I really enjoyed the second book and it had me hooked, I can't believe how much Porschia is not like the other vampires and i am liking Tage at the moment, but so much of the other vampires and i am glad she manage to feed. Can't believe what happened to Saul. So can't read to the rest of the books
This was so original. I loved how the main character has unusual issues when changing and how that effects those around her. Tage was amazing in this one. I really loved the novel and loved the fast paced way it ran along.
