Tiene un gravísimo error que para mí es imperdonable, y tira todo lo bueno que me hubiera parecido el libro hasta ese momento.- Tiene un final precipitado, que no se corresponde para nada con el resto de la historia.- Da la sensación que la escritora se cansó y lo terminó, cuando había puesto mucho detalle y dedicación a todo lo anterior.- Es una pena, porque dentro de lo poco empática que me sentía con la protagonista, que dan ganas de matarla muchas veces, era una historia que atrapaba, muy buenos personajes, muy bien contada.- Pero el final, que en definitiva es lo que te deja pensando, flojísimo.-

The book cover and intriguing synopsis caught this NetGalley reviewer's attention. Unfortunately, the poor, stilted writing style could not hold it. I would equate it to staring at a picture out of focus. It quickly became painfully, annoying. Could not finish it. I highly suspect the reason being the book was probably translated to English, as the author is from Spain. Without good editing, such a book often does not flow well.
I also have to admit I feel the heroine was too quick/casual about having an affair with one man while she was planning to marry another. I was hoping for at least more hesitancy on her part.

Me ha gustado este libro, una historia de superacion personal de la protagonista, de un amor que a pesar de los años y de los vaivenes de la vida consigue superar el odio y la amargura, una historia de segundas oportunidades y de como los convencionalismos y la familia hacen que tomemos decisiones que nos hacen infelices y sobre todo del amor, ese amor que te arrastra y te cambia la vida y te hace sentir especial;) muy recomendable!!!

Me ha encantado la historia, pero no le doy 5 estrellas por el final, es demasiado apresurado. Me han faltado unas pocas páginas más, que se desarrollara mejor ese reencuentro, que Kenzie dejara salir todo lo que realmente siente.

Romántica, realista, creíble, ambientación excelente sobre Escocia y sus gentes. Es una novela con una historia muy bien llevada, a la que te enganchas con mucha facilidad. Es verdad que podría haber dado algo más de presencia a los secundarios, pero a mí me ha gustado mucho. Reconozco que alguna lágrima se me ha escapado, y me ha hecho pensar sobre las decisiones que tomamos en la vida y el porqué las tomamos.

Me gustó mucho la historia, me encanto sobre todo este escocés salvaje aunque más que salvaje es un dulce de leche. A ella por momentos la odie pero es entendible su reacción dada la crianza que tuvo. Me falto un epílogo más largo.

Diese Geschichte Enthält Liebe, Verlust,Schmerz, Trauer, Dickköpfigkeit & Glück.Ich Liebe einen guten Whiskey, die Highlands, ebenso die Kilts & natürlich die Sprache Gälisch. Diese Sprache ist fast ausgestorben & ich bin hoch erfreut sie Lesen zu Dürfen in dieser Wundervollen Geschichte. Da ich mich wärmen musste kam mir der Whiskey nicht nur in der Geschichte gerade Recht. Ich Fand die Geschichte der Highlands, der Schlachten sehr Interessant & sehr gut Recherchiert. Das Gälische kam zwar etwas zu kurz, aber das ist nicht zu ändern, trotzdem hab ich mich über die kleinen Gälischen Wörter sehr gefreut. Manchmal hätte ich gerne Lola;Berta oder Mario eine Geklebt. Die Geschichte von Rebecca & Kenzie hat mich in den Bann gezogen & ich konnte das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen. Es stimmt wirklich die meisten Schotten Tragen unter dem Kilt nichts(zumindest die älteren Schotten die ich Traf). Der Whiskey ist wirklich nicht Ohne mann sollte sich Zeit lassen & Ihn wie Rebecca & Kenzie genießen. Ich hab mit Ihnen mit Gelitten, habe mit Gefiebert, war Begeistert & hab ein paar Tränchen Vergoßen. Schotten sind genauso Dickköpfig wie Iren. Wer eine Reise durch Schottland, den Highlands, der Geschichte, der Kultur & der Sprache machen möchte ist hier genau Richtig. Einfach nur zu EMPFEHLEN!!!

Rebecca’s friends were Lola and Berta. they had known each other since high school and there were getting ready to graduate college. Berta was the wise one of the three, Rebecca was pretty naive and impressionable as well as the loveliest, and Lola was the one full of life- the zest of the party and the only single one of the three. Berta had Albert and Rebecca had Mario the only son of her father's law partner. Rebecca and Mario had been together two years. Rebecca was to become a teacher. Five years before the girls had agreed to take a trip after graduation and now the choice had been made to go to Scotland. One last bid of freedom before settling down to life as an adult. while in Scotland Rebecca meets a Scotsman Kenzi and falls in love with him they have a druid style wedding now she must return and break things off with Mario.
I liked the plot of this story as far as finding true love goes, but with Rebecca’s upbringing I just don’t believe she would completely change this much for a man she just meant especially since she was engaged to Mario. I understand all of a sudden she loved the Scot but to give in so easily doesn’t sit right with me.

Rebecca’s story is told in two parts. The first focuses on Rebecca and her two friends, all three recent college grads, making their first foray into adulthood. Typically immature and overly self-confident, they almost try too hard at this new stage in life. The dialogue is at times awkward as their words and actions aren’t always logical or consistent. Still, these girls are charmingly believable. The amateurish style reflects Rebecca’s wide-eyed reaction as she travels to Scotland, impressed by all the sites and newness around her, and for the first time is out from under her mother’s tight control. The tone shifts in the second part of the novel to mirror the more mature Rebecca who has grown from the difficulties (and blessings) in her life. More introspective, the story moves forward with narration more than dialogue, revealing Rebecca’s deeper understanding of life and of herself. In the end, A Love for Rebecca is an enjoyable story of a love affair that lasts.

What a wonderful love story! I am so glad I won this book off of Goodreads! Thank you. The novel is about a young lady who hesitantly go with her girlfriends on a vacation to the Scottish Highlands. She was doing this as a last trip before her impending marriage. You guessed it! She fell in love with a Scotsman...a glamorous hunk of a man! They have an awesome wedding Druid type wedding ceremony, and she returns home to Barcelona to break off her wedding with her husband-to-be. I don't want to tell you the whole story, but from that point on, I could not put the book down. Good thing I had a day off from work the next day because of Veteran's Day. I sat up until 1ate night finishing this novel, and then I was able to sleep in the next morning. I haven't read a lot of love stories recently. If they were all like this one, I would read them more often! Great book! I give it a high five!!!

Rebecca is engaged to marry Mario, whom she does not love. But because of family obligations she must marry him. She goes to Scotland on vacation with friends and unexpectedly falls in love. Will true love win over family obligations? Read the book to find out!

I was highly disappointed in this book. I bought it because the main character shares my name. I feel like she betrayed me. She had zero personality of her own. Her relationship with her mother and Mario was painful and made me angry. And her relationship with Kenzie felt unrealistic. Also, this may be because it was originally in Spanish but some of the conversations between the 3 friends hurt to read. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 only because the actual smutty bits were alright. The plot however was awful.

Buena novela cargada de historia, ritos celtas y amor pleno, lo único que me frena para no darle las 5 estrellas es que las palabras en gaélico no todas eran traducidas y que a veces la historia principal (Rebeca y Kensie) se perdía por tantos acontecimientos históricos o de los demás personajes, porque la autora sí se preocupó por llenar los finales de los protagonistas secundarios y a ellos les dio un final apresurado

Me gustó mucho la historia y los personajes, hay momentos muy emotivos y la autora nos mete totalmente en la trama. En realidad, le pondría un 4,5 porque hubiese querido un poco más al final

Una historia que me ha sorprendido gratamente, no tenía "grandes expectativas" porque hace mucho que no encontraba un libro romántico que realmente me lo pareciera o que me emocionara, y este lo ha hecho.
Me hubiera gustado un poco de más final, es decir, que fuera ¿más dramático? ¿con una mini-vuelta de tuerca? Pero igual y así está bien. «El gusto se rompe en géneros» como se dice mi tierra.
Me encantó todo el viaje por Escocia, me encantaría ver esos hermosos paisajes y empaparme con la historia de todos esos castillos; visitar los hermosos lagos y buscar a Nessi entre sus aguas...
Me gustó mucho que los personajes están muy bien definidos, aunque para ser sincera, las protagonistas débiles (tirando a tontas) no suelen ser mis favoritas (por eso no alcanza las 5 estrellas), pero con todo, no deja de ser humana y sufrió (por su propia culpa) pero al final...

La novela me ha gustado y los personajes me han atraído desde el principio. Rebeca la protagonista se comporta como una persona que se deja manejar y por ello sufre que es más fácil que enfrentars al mundo.
Pero, por favor, no me puedo creer los recorridos por el pueblo MUY detallados, la lista de la compra que se puede replicar y en un punto importante "pasan los días en general en la isla Skye"... ¡¡Por Dios la mejor parte y la soluciona en un par de renglones!!
Creo que esta es la parte que hay revisar, que hay un poco de equilibrio...

Me ha gustado descubrir a la autora en esta novela que me ha resultado dulce, entrañable y fresca, aunque por momentos parecía estar leyendo situaciones (o más bien comportamientos de los personajes) más típicos de las novelas de época, pero cuando conoces la historia que va detrás y a los personajes, no puedes dejar de leer.

La ambientación me ha encantado. Las leyendas escocesas, también, pero no he podido con ningún personaje ni con la historia en sí. Todo precipitado, los diálogos increíbles (y no en el buen sentido) me ha costado mucho leerla. 😬

I really wanted to like this book. Maybe it is the cultural differences but I just couldn't get past the heroine being such a doormat or her Mother being so uncaring. It read more like a book set in the 40s or 50s rather than current times. I did finish it in hopes it would improve but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Ganz nette Geschichte, obwohl die Protagonistin deutlich jünger ist als ich:-) und ich mich daher nicht so recht mir ihr identifizieren konnte. Ich hoffe mal für die jungen Spanierinnen aus "gutem Hause", dass sie sich ihren Mann doch selbst aussuchen heutzutage...
Zu der Story: Spanierinnen verlieben sich in Schotten. Eine gibt ihrem Gefühl nach, weil sie endlich den einen Mann fürs Leben getroffen hat, die Andere trifft auch auf ihre große Liebe, opfert sich aber, weil sie sich (womöglich aufgrund ihrer Jungend und Unerfahrenkeit von ihrer Mutter und ihrem Verlobten so einschüchtern lässt, dass sie erstmal in einer unglücklichen Ehe landet. Nach 8 Jahren versucht sie, in Schottland alle Scherben wieder zu kitten...
Die vielen eingestreuten gälischen Ausdrücke (mit Übersetzung) haben mir sehr gefallen, ansonsten leider nicht so viel Lokalkolorit wie der Titel es vermittelt hat. Ich habe das Buch dann doch in einem Rutsch weggelesen, weil es mich irgendwann gepackt hat, wie die Protagonistin dann doch endlich, endlich den Mut aufbringt, für ihre Gefühlen einzustehen und dafür zu kämpfen.

A true love story
I usually read Scottish romance because I love the interaction of love between the h and a strong beautiful H. This story delivered all. I was so surprised that a modern story could do this! There was the Scot I loved, a most beautiful love story, turns and twists that upset me, worried me, and pulled at all of my emotions. This author knows how to develop characters who are beautiful inside and out, characters you hate, characters who receive your compassion. You will get so involved with them and the storyline you will not want to put the book down and will be sorry it ends as I was! I do always mention sexual content as I don't like a sexual tutorial. This is not a clean read. The sexual scenes weren't explicit. Loved the desire between H/h.
