The Right Problems: What the President, Congress, and Every Candidate Should Be Working On

Rate this book
The problems that need attention in the United States aren't new, nor are their solutions. Yet the political establishment neither understands these problems nor desires to address them. Only informed and courageous leadership can change that. In The Right Problems, former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain shows how we can overcome the ignorance that has spread throughout our country, and describes what an informed and courageous leader should look like as we elect a new president in 2016.

Herman Cain is a candidate for the U.S. Republican Party presidential nomination who has a background as a business executive, syndicated columnist, and radio host from Georgia. He served as chairman and CEO of Godfather's Pizza from 1986 to 1996. Cain served as deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1992 to 1994, and as chairman from 1995 to 1996. Before his business career, he worked as a mathematician in ballistics as a civilian employee of the United States Navy. Cain was president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association from 1996 to 1999.

Cain ran for public office several times, including a campaign in 2000 for President and 2004 for Senator, neither of which were successful. In May 2011, Cain entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Initially dismissed by mainstream media, Cain unexpectedly surged in Republican primary polls in October 2011, and became one of the leading candidates for the nomination.

The book was enjoyable to read and Herman Cain makes several good points and correctly points out many problems facing both America and American government. My only issue was the over simplicity he thinks to be the solution in solving those issues.

Great book written by an even greater man.....human being.
I had the pleasure of casually knowing Herman, seeing him speak and having a couple of short conversations with him on the run. He was just like his writing - straight forward.
He wrote the book before the Clintcnt/Trump presidential race but he could have written it four years later as the other side of the aisle has not figured it out yet.
I think think he was too nice about the American voters. He says that given the facts, the true facts, people would come around and vote with what their minds. I personally think he was being nice and this included both sides of the aisle. I think he really wanted to say that they are just too dumb to think for themselves. He delved into the Barry Obuma adminsitration and the Paris Climate Circle Jerk and the multitude of problems facing America. He listed what he thought were the 5 most pressing and explained how he would attack them. He also listed 4 others that are right there too and told you why they were not in the top 5. Great reading for those with an open mind.
