“Thrilling and chilling, full of poignant and naked emotion. But beware of shocking twists and unexpected surprises that keep on intriguing, readying you for the ultimate gut punch. A wild escapade.” —Steve Berry, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of “The 14th Colony”
What if our very survival rested in the hands of one man? A dead one…
Iraq, 2003: Navy SEAL Austin McCord meets with his own end when he takes a lethal bullet. A single heartbeat, and all is lost. But after more than a decade Austin awakens with no sign of an injury; not even a scar. Held in a subterranean medical facility in present-day London, Austin discovers no explanation for the death he so clearly remembers. There are only two things present for him to see: a picture of his twin sister sitting on a table beside his bed, and a body—absent its head—lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
Fearing for his sister’s safety, Austin pushes his questions and confusion aside and races to find Angelique. Unfortunately, a killer is heading in the exact same direction as the heroic SEAL—an infamous murderer suspected to be dead long ago, who has miraculously survived to continue his rampage.
As Austin attempts to save his sister, a web of lies, cover-ups, and a historical past unveils itself. He soon discovers that he and his loved ones are major targets in a far greater war that began long ago at the hands of a secret society known as the Morvicti.
The deeper Austin plunges into their realm, the more escape seems impossible. And the harder he fights, the clearer it becomes that not only does Angelique’s life depend on him, but so does the rest of mankind.
“Inventive and audacious, “Morvicti Blood” is a ground-breaking thriller. If Bram Stoker had written “A Game of Thrones,” this is the book he’d have produced.” —Andrew Grant, Bestselling Author of “Run”
I started this book because of the many super positive review written about it. I finished it because it's absolutely a great book. I had a hard time with the first few chapters because there are a ethereal of characters you need to get to know to truly enjoy the book. I actually almost quit reading it but decided to give it a couple more chapters and I'm so glad I did. (By the way, if your smarter than I seem to be, you l l use the list of who's who to help you identify characters) I really got involved in this book and very connected to the characters. It became so hard to put down and when I finished it, the first thing I did was look for book two. Not because I was left hanging-the opposite is true-the author finishes things up nicely but I sob loved reading it and want to know what else is going to happen. I loudly applaud authors who do not leave the reader hanging as if to force the reader to buy the next book. The author who knows how to write a good book while finishing it up leaving you wanting more, that's an amazing and talented author. That does describe this author. Yes, I recommend this book! It's a neat new take that is creative and intriguing. :)
Very good. Extremely provocative and thought provoking work. Historically accurate and scientifically sound with an astounding amount if research required to pull it together. Very entertaining
I loved this book. However, it would be a novel concept for this to be true. You get old sleep how many untold years, have a little blood and live another full life. Unlike the vampire who has to feed each night. You can live forever like that, no more blood. Unless you get hurt of course. I could do that (smile). I will be reading more about the Morvicti legacy. Good story and a lot of suspense and adventure. I figured Austin would go the way he chose. His future story I am quite interested in.
The storyline/plot had some delightfully unexpected twists and turns (which I don't want to mention so I don't spoil this for anyone else). I would like to read more in the series. However, for this book, it did get a little slow in places - especially with the dialogue. I also felt that the character development on Austin was a little stiff (although other characters like Dr. Wilson were much better developed).
I enjoyed the story - the beginning especially, when several storylines are developed and the mystery of the various characters keeps my interest. It's a good and fun concept, gets a little less exciting towards the end, and even though there's promise of good follow on stories of the Morvicti, I'm not that enamored with them to rush into the next volume. Maybe I'll read it, maybe I won't, but I'm happy with this first volume.
Meh. Wouldn't encourage me to read the next in the series. Some dialog that was very laboured. Good pacing to the book in fairness. Kind of felt like I had tuned into a late evening detective series program episode on TV - I quickly realised loads of characters were being put in place to support a whole series of books but at the same time decided that as soon as I found out whodunnit in this particular weeks' episode, I wouldn't be watching another one.
Absolutely the worst book I have had the misfortune to have read this
Year, Truly abysmal in every way. Poorly plotted, every plot twist telegraph ed far too easily and frankly the worst cod Irish dialogue I have read in years.
Enjoyable book, logical, well researched, encompassing fantasy book. Potential to expand on some creative, intriguing characters, I look forward to reading more in this potential series.
It took 30% of this book before I could understand what was truly happening. Am glad I perservered as I enjoyed the story. The ending didn't inspire me enough to want to read more from this series.
I liked this book a lot. Good storyline, easy to follow, great ending! my only downfall was how whiney Angelique was. The entire book. So it's more like 4.5 stars.
