I don’t think this is a particularly good book, or history but it is an interesting account from an insider.
Austin Mitchell’s writing can be quite meandering and the structure of the book can sometimes leave to be desired treating readers as the insiders he so frequently hammers in the book. Despite this, it is fascinating reading about this time in the Labour Party and for all the faults in its structure, it still provides a strong impression of what Mitchell believes went wrong and who was responsible.
