Wolf Shifter Cole Babcock is now the leader of a unit within the Shifter Coalition. As a lone wolf he’s working hard to handle his new duties and working with a team. He doesn’t mind working hard and it’s not like he has anyone to go home to.

Things are changing fast for the two shifters. The case that brought them together runs into complication after complication. There are rogues being held hostage, Kendra’s witness is in danger, and Cole’s been offered a chance of a lifetime. The Alpha of the local wolf pack wants Cole to take over the position from him.
Cole begins to rely on Kendra for everything from closing the case to speaking with the Alpha. As they grow closer, Cole realizes how strong his feelings for Kendra are. He isn’t alone anymore.
With their lives in danger, only the love they share will get them through the week.

I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. By day you can find me at my 'day job' buried under a pile of paperwork but at night I am at my computer creating new worlds!
I have always loved the paranormal. Shape-shifters, witches, and vampires have been my number one choice of reading material so when I strated to write it was the genre I chose.
I currently have several books released through Totally Bound. I have one long running series the Were Chronicles and in March 2014 a spin-off series the Shifter Chronicles will be revealed.
I also have several stand alone novellas and novels.
I am working hard to bring more stories to the readers so they can sit back and relax while losing themselves in the paranormal romance world.
I’ve really been enjoying Shifter Chronicles series and when I saw Wolf Pack come out I was all over it. I haven’t been a big fan of the covers but the stories, the characters, the intrigue, the mystery has been outstanding. While the Wolf Pack can be read as a stand-alone, I suggest reading the whole series. The world built here and the characters are very much worth the read.
I have a bit of a bone to pick about Cole and Kendra’s story. On the whole, it was great. Their interactions I loved, although I did feel at times there was less of a ‘let’s solve the crime’ and more relationship building. Which was fine, I get it. This is a PNR stress on the romance. And yes, there was the paranormal aspect as well. Personally, that is my favorite part about the series. Added bonus, having all the previous couples in the series and finding out how they are doing. All the blending of the different kinds of shifters - bird, bears, cats and canines – plus multiple policing agencies working together for the greater good. You don’t run into many series where the author can pull it off without coming off too busy. In this world Ms. Smith built, she nailed it
So what’s my problem? Cole and Kendra jumped into bed too fast. *Thunks head on desk* I’m not going into the details so I don’t spoil the story but, as much as I get the first time (Whoopsie!) then when it happens again so soon, and again, and again, etc, it kind of killed it for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love sex in my romances. It helps build the relationship and establish the characters into a couple. Unfortunately, for me, I felt it took over the story. I still enjoyed Wolf Pack, just not as much as I had the previous books.
Unless Taylor gets his own story I have a feeling this may be the last book in the series, which makes me somewhat sad. It’s been quite an exciting read all the mystery, the coming together of the couples the agencies working together, I’m sad to see it all go. Happily, I just found out this is a spin-off from another series so I don’t have to mope around too long. If you are in the market for a great PNR series to get lost in, I highly recommend reading Ms. Smith’s books.
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine. Stars - 3.5, Flames - 3
Cole Babcock is a lone wolf who is now the leader of a unit with the Shifter Coalition. Kendra Brown is a US Marshal who needs the Coalition’s help. Things are changing rapidly for both in this sensational paranormal romance. The Shifter Coalition series is never dull, that’s for sure as this group of shifters fight to protect while struggling with the animosity against shifters in the law enforcement world and Cole and Kendra’s story has a bit of a grander HEA than most because of all the changes in their lives which had me glued to the pages.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
While I did enjoy Wolf Pack, it wasn’t all that I had hoped it to be. Even though this is the fifth book in the series, I read it as a standalone. I wasn’t confused by the storyline as far as the series goes, but I suspect I would have enjoyed it more had I read it where it fell within the series order because I believe I would have had a familiarity with many of the characters, particularly Cole.
The first chapter does a nice job of setting the stage for the novel, but then I felt as though things moved too fast after that, at least for a while. It was actually an unusual feeling for me because I’m not unaccustomed to the end of a book being rushed, but it felt as though the author was trying to communicate so much in the beginning that it just left me feeling rushed. And far be it from me to complain about the speed at which two shifters hook up because I am a huge fan of the mating instinct in shifter romances, but neither Kendra or Cole seemed to acknowledge that that’s what was going on and was why they were so drawn to one another. But putting all of that aside, once I hit the second half of the book, I was engrossed. The active search for the witness, the cooperation between the Coalition and the pack, the rescue of the rogues, and the hunt for the bad guys kept my attention rapt for the remainder of the book. Amidst their law enforcement duties, Kendra and Cole shined, and struck a nice balance between their personal lives and their professional duties – and this helped to balance out the book for me. Despite an active hunt, the pacing of the story no longer felt frantic.
I appreciated that once the bad guys had been caught, that Smith didn’t end the book. Rather, she continued the story to show Cole shedding his lone wolf status and becoming a member of the pack, a very valued member of the pack. We also got to see how Kendra meshed with Cole’s coworkers and friends. And the relationship development continued, showing a strengthening of their bond beyond simply being drawn to one another. Smith does add some interesting twists to the shifter world that she has created and I would be interested in starting at the beginning because I like the idea of a world in which shifters are “out” in the human world. Overall, Wolf Pack was an enjoyable read, but if you’re like myself and haven’t read the previous novels in the series, I recommend you start at the beginning.
