I won’t lie, I’m just like every other guy on the planet. I love action movies, first person shooters, fast cars, technology, guns, cool kit and of course beautiful women. I grew up with Dirk Pitt, Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, Doom, Wolfenstein, Commando Comics, James Bond, Rambo, The Predator and more. As a young man I have embraced Counter Strike, Half-life, The Bourne Series, Top Gear, Call of Duty the list goes on and on. Coupled with my military experience this seething mass of adrenalin-fueled testosterone has evolved into PRIMAL.
Well written and keeps your interest throughout. Any one who likes fast paced action will find their interest engaged here. Only 4 stars because the characters are not very realistic, way too powerful, lucky and idealistic. But if you want something lite and fun this is it.
I read this starter kit and was hooked - I've now read the entire Primal series and looking forward to seeing Book 10. These books would make an awesome Netflix (or something similar) series. Jack Silkstone's background with the defence forces really comes through here, as the stories are very authentic. They're also fast paced, engaging page turners - the stories and characters grip you from day one. One of the lead characters is a larrikin Aussie named Aden Bishop, who his friends and colleagues regard as a "sh*t magnet", and they're not wrong. As an Australian myself, it's nice to see a 'fellow' Aussie in the lead. But all the characters are great - as a woman, I enjoy reading about men who are unashamedly masculine but who put their hero genes to good use, protecting others from unscrupulous war lords and the like. Male or female, if you enjoy the action/thriller genre, the Primal series is definitely worth a read.
As usual, I read the series out of order.... kinda. Lol! I believe that this book was actually released sometime after the PRIMAL series had begun. However, I think it can be read either prior to beginning the series or when it was released, which you'll have to figure out by the release dates. This was an action packed, suspenseful, and intriguing collection of stories that will hook you from beginning to end. I enjoyed reading about the early days, some of the backgrounds of the characters, when and how they all met, but most importantly, how PRIMAL was created. It's certainly not a collection that you'll want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
This covers the first 3 books of a series of current day multinational warriors (mostly former military or intelligence personnel) who band together in secret to correct the world's most terrible "wrongs" using everything modern technology has to offer. Fast paced scenarios, well planned interventions with some fly by the seat of your pants reactions to the unexpected situations. I liked the character development along with their private struggles. Somewhat more blood & guts than I like but great reads despite that. Look forward to reading more in the series.
I love the premise & mission of Primal. At the core, I feel the same way, wanting justice for all the unfair things that go on in the world.
I love how the cast of characters are so multi-cultural and not your typical Caucasian-only hero. A very rare thing to see and I love that! The author has done a great job in portraying the different protagonists in such a non-stereotypical way, it's very refreshing.
Primal is good. The two short stories setup the book and the last shows all the development the author put into the story giving the readers an explanation of how the book was put together. The characters are well developed and have a good personality that makes you feel like you know them. Good over evil and the ride along the way. Read, enjoy and read between the lines.
I started reading the book and couldn't out it down. I have loved all the books in the series that I have read so far. And I plan to get the test of the series so I can read them all.
This box set has got me excited about reading the rest of the series. It was fast paced and full of action. The characters were diverse and that includes the good and bad guys. Plenty of different locations. There wasn't anything I disliked.
Reminds me of 30 minute 40's &50's radio shows. Tight stories with a beginning and an ending encapsulated in time sensitive packages. Not great literature. But, good adventures. I will give Primal a thumbs-up and continue on.
Very fast paced.Good development of characters and viable scenarios. Once into it it's very difficult to out down. Will give you hours of enjoyable reading
Just when the many authors continuing the Clancy universe seem to be finding it a little difficult to come up with fresh ideas along comes Primal to breathe new life into the Campus concept writ large.
I fully expect to read every one and hang out for more.
The names and locations and weapons will change over the Millennia. But the corruption and the evil Remains the Same. Apparently, it is part of the human condition. But it is satisfying to read about some of them getting what they have coming.
Really enjoyed this book.I love spy and rogue justice defenders. Realistic and exciting action. The cruelty treated and victimized have heroes to avenge them.
Loved the first three books of this series can't wait to see where he goes next with these characters. Fun fast paced with lots of action just the way I like.
A great start for a hopefully long series of PRIMAL stories!
The first book started slowly, but accelerated quickly. It got my attention and I did not want to put it down. I cannot wait for more sequels to follow!
Made it through the first couple of chapters. Like the Black Ops premise but couldn't handle the Middle Eastern terrorist setting. I'm slowly working through over 1K of Hubby's Kindle and I'm too bored and done with the whole Middle East Terrorist thing so this box is going to the bottom of DNF.
