Cozy Meadows, a middle school music teacher, is a little low on spirit this holiday season. After being abandoned by her fiancé, Finn Donovan months earlier, she’s just not the same.

When her werewolf friend, Calla asks her to head up Hallow Moon Senior Center’s Christmas recital for the Council of Elders and the members of town, she dives in head first. What better way to keep her mind busy while she tries to get over the hunky Finn?

Until Finn comes back to their hometown of Paris, Texas. Fresh from a stint in magic abuse prison, Finn behaves as though he didn’t literally disappear the night of their engagement party. He’s all smiles and still sexy as sin.

Cozy’s got her hands full with the wily seniors who call themselves The Depends Patrol, and her feisty familiar Jorge as she tries to navigate the return of Finn and keep track of the seniors and their shennanigans.

But things get a whole lot worse when someone makes an attempt on her life. It’s Christmas daggonit! Shouldn’t killers take at least one day off a year?

Everything isn’t as it seems, including a secret Cozy’s kept most of her life. A secret that just may end up costing her that very life...

THE REVIEW

Why this book?
I really liked the other books in the series

What I thought

Finn is sent back to his hometown of Paris Texas to serve out his parole after he made a big mess of things leaving. The towns people especially his ex fiancee Cozy is not so welcoming. This was my least favorite of the series because most of the time I felt sorry for Finn, everybody was horrible to him. Maybe some would say he deserved it, but no one stopped to think that maybe he had a reason for leaving. With that said other parts were entertaining and fun. I'm sad this is the last book of the series, I grew to love the characters in these books and it's hard to say goodbye.

Finn left the night of their engagement party with no explanation. It turns out he was in jail (the magical kind) and is now back to serve out his parole. Cozy (yes, that's her name) was understandably hurt and wants nothing to do with him (but, of course she really does!). I felt a little lost with the cast of characters, so it took lots of time to figure that all out. Then there were doggy diapers and the Depends Patrol (yes, really).
And of course there is a reasonable explanation for everything:

So... The Executioner? That major detail is why I didn't give a higher rating. Disappointing since this is the last book in the series :/

Seniors, magic and mayhem

Terrific! Witches, wizards, Fate, shifters and more all living happily in Paris or are they? Why is someone out to get her? Awesome read with a mystery, plenty of magic and romance thrown in. If you haven't read any of these then you are really missing out. Highly recommended.

This is another fun addition to the Paris, Texas series and the world Dakota Cassidy has created. I love the characters in these books, each of them with a story and a history of their own. Cozy and Finn are no different. And I love the seniors… total agents of chaos! It’s a quick read but well developed and engrossing. If I had one complaint, it is the single thread left dangling. The identity behind the villainous aspect of the plot. This is the last book in the series, and he or she wasn’t identified. Maybe a dangler for another series.

Dakota Cassidy writes a interesting yet whimsical mystery. The romance is there and characters just flow along. The seniors at the center are at it again with their unusual brand of help. The familiars are different but interesting to say the least. You have a lizard, a doll and a dog with issues. Add to it the seniors, Finn and Cosy and the plot just moves along with a chuckle here and there. Enjoy because , I love it!

Gotta love a book with the Depends Patrol (hilarious by the way), seniors in sheets, exploding arrows,'70s wardrobe malfunction and lots of secrets revealed. Dakota Cassidy never disappoints!
