Testimonials "The book is well written and understandable for anyone with even minimal investing experience." -JCS "One of the best books on dividend growth investing. I wish I had known about this 10 years ago as I compared my tax-free bonds versus dividend growth investing would have doubled my portfolio if I had followed his books advice." -David "An investment strategy that makes sense. The book is short and to the point. Reading it will be time well spent." "I'm already employing the strategy in my own investments, but this book gave me a lot of confidence that I'm absolutely doing the right thing. It is short, but there's every bit as much content as a much longer book.
Solid overview of dividend growth investments. I lean more toward higher yield and compounding, but still a great introduction. This is a good read for those beginning their investment journey. [Audio book]
This was a really basic book on using dividend stocks as an all-in-one investment strategy. Nathan does what he set out to do in keeping things simple and straightforward for something that can be a lot more complicated. Unfortunately, in doing so, he created some really hard to believe hypotheticals that make dividend investing seem better than it probably is (not that it's a bad strategy). All-in-all for ~90 minutes of your time anyone getting into the stock market could benefit from this book, though there are definitely other places I'd start first.
Finally, not sure if it was just my edition, but this book really could have used an editor. There were multiple spots in the book where extra spaces showed up between words. It almost seemed like a handful of blog posts that had been converted to paperback. Additionally, some points were repeated in back to back paragraphs using slightly different wording, but adding no additional insights. Nathan if you need an editor shoot me a message.
It's rare I give a book 5 stars and even rarer when it's non-fiction. It's also the first book I've finished in a night, so thank you Nathan!
It starts out with the pitch and goes through the theoretical stuff, which is important to hook the reader, then it gets down to the nitty-gritty, the practical side of investing, without waffling on for 300 pages! If you are considering investing, or are already investing or just want to learn more about the stock market works, this book is a must-read. I will be recommending this to a lot of people! Hopefully, Nathan writes some more books, I'd be the first to buy it!
Quick and simple. A great start to understanding dividends for the clueless
A great quick read. Loved the simple examples given when explaining how the dividend process works especially when comparing it to other investment options. I did have to read a section or 2 twice but I have no finance or math background. Don't let this deter you though, I'm a slow reader and I have a toddler so many factors affected my ability to concentrate. I'm Australian so I took what I needed from this book and ignored parts like 401K (had to google this) as we have Superannuation here, but it gave food for thought. Thank you for this book. I've recommended it to some friends.
This was a nice short read and teaches you the basics of forming a portfolio with dividend stocks. He goes through the pros of the strategy clearly. I only have it 4 stars because it has a section that went over only American stocks and I’m from Canada. However, the strategy will still apply for Canadian stocks and will differ quite a-bit in numbers; but still a good strategy to abide by none the less.
An excellent book that makes the idea of investing in dividend stocks easy. If most people took the hour or so to read the book, another couple of hours to review and make a plan, and another hour to put that plan into action, they would be financially set. Like anything, putting that plan into action is not really a matter of difficulty, but priority and perseverance. Get the book and do it now!
I found this book to be very direct and to the point, the writer did not spend his time trying to dazzle the reader with reems of technical financial jargon. He simply presented his case in a manner that was very understandable to the average working man or woman who wants their hard earned money to work for them.
Investing in solid companies with the power of dividend growth is a no-brainer. This book provides a clear understanding of this power. Not a techy book and Nathan does not pick any stocks to invest in, but a good read for anyone wanting to understand the basics of dividend stock investing.
A very basic book on the subject. It's true that the author makes this clear at the beginning. For those with no prior knowledge of investments, it's a quick and motivating read to seek further knowledge. For those with some intermediate or advanced knowledge, it's not worth it.
I believe this was a solid honest approach to dividend investing. Some key areas I like was him including his dividend kings and explaining why he considered these stocks as kings.
This is a very basic material, covering the fundamentals of dividend investing, but important as literature review. There are some great nuggets, though, especially on assessing a financial advisor before hiring one.
Good intro for beginners. Doesn’t offer much in the ways of deep analysis of good dividend stocks. More of a set up book into dividend growth investing, but that’s about it.
This was awesome. I saw a youtube video explaining compound interest and dividends and I was curious. I found the reddit forum, they recommended other books but those are inbound and was craving more information. I found this one on a whim and lo and behold, great information!
Exactly what I needed. Answers to creating retirement income. I met with my company portfolio manager and all I heard was blah blah about why we should participate, this book quickly answered my questions
Dividend Growth outperforms a lot of stuff. Dividend plowback and compounding amplifies the effects over time. It’s a slow grind and you won’t feel much gratification at the start but START INVESTING ASAP. The sooner you invest the faster you can start compounding your portfolio.
Very good overview and baseline reading for someone wanting to get educated on dividend investing. Direct and easily understood examples. And true to author’s prediction, a quick 90 minute read - well worth it.
I’ve been investing for thirty five years. This is one of the best investment books I have read due to its straight forward, simple and fact based explanations and advice.
I liked this book. Informative about dividend investing. Good advise for those uninitiated with calculations I have used myself. Also, a fast and easy read.
Da buenas ideas sobre inversion en dividendos crecientes y es sencillo. Me enseñó a conocer que la volatilidad en una cartera DGI es menor que la de un índice.
Very good summary on dividend investing, shows the power of compounding, good advice on investment advisors and selection. Not a deep dive but was more than I expected. Worth the read.
