Ottimo inizio.

This manga is from 2015. It reminded me of the Resident Evil game and the movies of that period.
The story starts with women in bikinis. There is a survival game being filmed on a tropical island. The women are going to compete in swimwear. There are traps set up by the production team. The contestants run around the island, with a cameraman following each contestant. It is like a treasure hunt. There are cards that are placed around the island for the contestants to collect.
Before they came, there was a masked person who killed a group of zombies. The story is set after the previous zombie outbreak by the Umbrella Company. People believe the crisis is over and the zombies are all gone. There are still some worries, but as the tropical island is very isolated, they should be okay.
Which is why the game is so scary. The zombie and the crazy masked person are already on the island without the production team's awareness.
The first volume is just setting up the story. It is not that good, as the illustration is not that good and the story is predictable.
3-star read.

What's not to like?
I only found out about this watching some Youtube video on the Resident Evil timeline. I came in expecting cheesy fun and gratuitous "skin" and I wasn't disappointed. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that the plot is actually pretty engrossing.
We essentially follow a reality TV filming crew (think Survival, but with bikini-clad contestants) arriving at a tropical island. Claire Redfield and Inéz Diaco of Terrasave also just happen to be around investigating rumours of a biohazard. The pacing is actually pretty good as we're shown new B.O.W.s right off the bat with several plot arcs kicking off pretty early - a naive Assistant Director with a crush, the video game protagonists, a mysterious local cult, and a couple of unknowns among the crew with hidden agenda.

So I could not find this in English. I wanted to read it though, because I had read "Marhawa Desire" and like it a lot. So, went and got the German edition and have spent nearly 2-3 months translating it. Writing everything down in a journal for future reads.
It's a good read, at first I wasn't too impressed with it, but it really pick up half way through, starting with Inez and Marilou and escalating. It's really good, worth the time and effort. Though I may wait a bit to start translating volume 2.

The harpoon monster is a decent creation for the universe. Claire and Inez aren’t really utilized here. Mayu offering herself to AD was incredibly sad and there were hints of perverted writing throughout. Claire realizing Spencer owned the island was not much of a twist for someone familiar with the franchise. Marilou’s husband is a B.O.W, did I get that right? Mike is a badass, but Zi Li is probably going to die soon.

A suivre.

I'm just obsessed with all things Resident Evil so I'm not at all picky with what part of the series I consume. Resident Evil 2 remake was an amazing experience and Heavenly Island was less so. It's a story with fan service (of the bikini kind) and zombies and Resident Evil virus goodness. It's pretty cheesy and crazy but, you know, it's resident evil.

Claire is literally a bystander throughout, and the story appears to be built around providing as many glamour shots of the female characters as possible... yet it IS beautifully drawn and JUST managed to hold the interest if you're a fan of Resident Evil.

Pretty average but fun to see your fav heroes outside of the games

fits in well with existing RE lore. Bring in Claire actually fits, as opposed to some of the animated movies.
new monsters and characters are actually quite interesting.

was gonna give it three but claire is in it so i'll let the boob shots slide for now
