Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B007MWLVMU.

High school history teacher Baylie Sutter finally seems to have it all - a great job, a great home, and for the first time in her life, real friends. When several women close to her are murdered and her former lover is wanted for the crimes, her seemingly perfect world shatters. Her ex disappears, and under a cloud of suspicion, Baylie is forced to leave her job behind and attempt to start over in the big city of Seattle. Just as she settles in, scandal finds her again. Her co-worker disappears and the cryptic phone calls begin. The cycle of murder is repeating itself and Baylie finds herself under fire a second time, with nowhere to run and no place to hide. With no one else to turn to, she joins forces with Detective Dylan Stone. Though Dylan mistrusts her immediately, he realizes there is more to this compelling woman than meets the eye. A long and painful trip through Baylie's past slowly begins to unleash memories locked away so deeply inside the mind of a once traumatized child that they are basically non-existent. Dylan soon realizes that Baylie is the key to a murderer's rage and his protective instincts are aroused. Before long, he finds himself risking not only his job and his sanity, but also his life to keep her safe.

Jennifer Hayden was born in Washington State. During her childhood and young adult years, she spent many hours lost in the adventures of a good book. She began writing her own stories at the age of 12 when she "ran out of books to read at the library." By the time she graduated from high school, she already had a job as a secretary/office manager, where she eventually met her husband, Mike. For the next several years, she wrote in her spare time, sharing her manuscripts with friends and family. At the urging of two good friends, she decided to go for broke and leave her secretarial career behind in pursuit of this magical literary journey. She now has 54 books available.

I had never heard of the author before, but downloaded the book when Amazon had it up for free. I started reading around 10pm and thought I'd read a couple chapters before bed but I ended up staying up till 3 AM reading it. I just couldn't put it down. The twist and turn and the surprises just keep on coming. I can feel the emotions of the characters as I read.

I will recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery. There's no lack of it. There's even a little romance thrown in there.

I just downloaded the next book from this series and I am looking forward to continue the journey.

Excellent! I loved the plot and suspense in this book. The romance was also excellent to this was a true romantic suspense book. Dylan and Bailey were the perfect couple and the perfect fit for this story. The reader had no choice bit to feel for what Bailey was going through as she was searching for the truth behind her past and all I can say is OH MY when she found it. I am not going to give a spoiler so I will not go into what she leaned all I can say is this was one heck of a book that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Hide and Seek is the first book in this series written by author Jennifer Hayden. It's one of the best mysteries that I've read.

A best seller!!

I couldn't stop reading it! I haven't read a book like this before, deeply motivated by a person who reaches out with words and captues your mind. I wish this one could be a movie: I can't say how much every one should read this. A truly roller coaster for me. Enjoy..

I finished this despite the plot being really thin, the characters doing things they really shouldn't have in this very dogged, idiotic way, and loads of annoying, repeated spelling errors (toe-headed, really? And pouring over reading material? What about saying your 'peace'? ARGH). But, read it I did. I did question why and I guess it's mainly because I was invested in the outcome; I wanted to know what random jigsaw would resolve the pretty large questions Hayden raised. Besides the spell check fail, the writing was decent enough.
When the finale came, it was a trifle trite.
The book and plot have potential. If only it had wanted to actually deal with identity, memory, psychology, rather than focus on a romance ...

Having never read anything by this author before, I certainly didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this free book fir my Kindle. This was a well written, intriguing story from the get go. There were twists and turns that were as fast and exciting as a roller coaster! I'd definitely download this author's works again.
