A cancelled wedding, a broken heart, and an emergency landing on a private island!
My life can't get any worse. Or so I thought. I decided to go on my honeymoon without the groom. Then I met Chance. And my life got worse. I'd met men like him. Men who thought they owned the world. Men who thought they could own me because they have all the money in the world. Men I couldn't stand. Chance was used to having any girl he desired; even my best friend, Amy was lured by his charms.
I was the exception. And it frustrated him, drove him crazy.
I vowed never to fall for him, never to acknowledge his existence. But fate has a way of twisting events, and soon I grew closer to him than I wanted. And then an even more surprising turn of event makes us closer than we could ever imagine, yet farther apart at the same time. I vowed not to let him get close to me. I vowed not to let another man break my heart...but my vows...were in vain . . .

Please explain to me why it is wrong for 2 consenting adults to be in a relationship just because their parents are married? They didn't grow up together and their parents eloped after knowing each other for a mere week. How is it then that Claire and Chance feel they have to sneak around and lie to their parents. Honestly, it was just bizarre and juvenile.
And the whole situation with Claire dating her fiance for 3 years and not wanting to sleep with him until their wedding night (which I can respect) and then having sex with Chance within days of knowing him seemed a little weird as she was quite antagonistic towards him. 24 hours. That's all it took for him to "bring down the walls of Jericho." -_- *After she had stopped treating him like a pariah, I mean*
And the jealousy. She sees him talking to a female friend and flips out. Who does that? Maybe she feels entitled because she "gave him her virginity" but that's a foolish and naive view.
Side note: The writing style of this author is a real turn off. I found it one dimensional and cringeworthy. The characters come across as juvenile and foolish. Just my opinion.
