This was book 4 of many - you need to read the books in order or you will lose out on many foundational details. This book starts off at a fairly good pace picking up from book 3 which found the various nations fighting each other in the typical greed for territory and the stupid politics that make you groan :-) Star Force has a long term mission of basically making the human race smarter and stronger so they can face an expected future encounter with the alien race that once enslaved humans. Once the various nations on earth are tamed into behaving the book goes into detail as to how Star Force takes their organization to the next higher plane in terms of training and new technology. Some of this detail gets a little slow so I just skim pages until I get to more substance of the overall story. In this case Star Force finally runs into an alien race and the sparks fly - I'll leave it at that so I don't spoil the story! I'm onto book5 :-)

One Major Point

I was able to work through the one major shortcoming I feel this series has, totally ignoring all known facets of the internal structure of the human body and all genetic information regarding aging of cell structure, the story continues to be a good one. Another strongly off putting facet was the assumption of our racial imperative to procreate and any social skills resulting from that.
By adjusting my outlook to, "this is a mirror dimension", I've been able to return to the core of the story.
The story has evolved to the point of First Contact with an aggressor alien race that resulted in the humans taking a high number of casualties and destruction of space assets and equipment. Our protagonists have succeeding in driving aliens off the growing colony.
On to the next book.

Another good story!

You do a pretty good job of hanging words together. I like the combat and people scenes. Not sure about lack of sex between the archons . Sex is a very powerful motivation. I can't spell worth a darn, but I can tell when a word is used wrong. You used "exuberant" which means very out of control happy, in place of exorbitant , which means way to expensive. I've been reading for over seventy years. That doesn't make me always right but always opinionated. Don't let the nay sayers get you down. I wanted to call myself an old "puff of anal gas", but spell-check kept wanting to put in "Gary", so I let it go. Wonder if I can use the @$& "poag"?

An epic slog behind a thundering herd of turtles

Even the snails are whizzing by; their normally brilliant colors doppler shifted to the far infrared. Plot progression is almost non existing and character development is nil. The author pays no attention to the supposedly superior technology of alien races. After 16 episodes, one would think some science would intrude this space opera. This reader is going to give one more look before quitting the series all together. Hopefully, the slog will become faster paced and more descriptive of alien technology.

Timeline is skippy

I’m not sure where this is leading up too.. was super excited about the Dinosaur Aliens and hope I get to meet them.. our recruits we met in Book 1 are last 100 yrs old now I think.. not sure because like I said the timeline skips around from a day to a decade. Left in suspense.. a weird new enemy not in the Dino Data? Hmmm... I am quite addicted though and want to keep going!

Good but more like books 1-4 than I would like.

Pretty good with a little too much "sports" watching . Looking forward to seeing how the author digs out from under this New undefeatable enemy. Lots of video game references and star wars references. Anyone into halo or star wars should like this book.

The future is now

Much like the previous box set this set propels the story forward quite a bit.
Something that people may not enjoy will be the time jumps, sometimes a decade or more at a time.
But, based on the way this universe works, we have all the same characters and more.
Huge twist at the end and I'm grabbing the best box set now!

Interesting use of language

Shakespeare was famous for inventing words. Maybe this guy will go down as inventing unnecessary past participle. Where are the editor and grammar police when you need them?
The author must have finally listened to feedback and introduced story elements. Too bad he didnt follow thru and we don't know what happened to the neuro surgeon.

Interessant!

Highly Detailed. Intriguing tech

The level of detail is very very high. The action scenes are fun to follow but I find myself just scanning thru the “preachy” parts.

Are they ever going to invent an armored glove that can operate a keyboard? WIFI might help reduce the need for thumb drives…

Despite these notes…still awesome!

Great Read

The Star Force continues to expand while Earth faces overpopulation. These episodes described the developing solutions and as usual new problems crop up. Lot of action involving our familiar heroes.

Oops the lizards are coming

Ok
Star Force had been doing so well; now we have lizards that are stronger than Star Force.
Hopefully the pyramid will give out team some great answers!

Stories were getting boring up until the last quarter of this book

The whole series started good but as it progressed the events got more and more boring. You can only stay interested in practice warfare for so long.

Still good but getting sloppy

Spelling and grammar can be ignored but when mistakes change the meaning you need to read twice and that wrecks the flow of your reading when it occurs in quick succession.
Not often but often enough.

Storyline spoiled by really poor grammar and spellchecking

Examples faint is to pass out, feint is to dodge

Exuberance is not the same as exorbitant

A good read diminished by poor editing

Here we go

Now begins the fun part. Although the cast list is getting larger. Just can not wait for the next act.

Good read

Good read. Little too much time in training. Good that no ships have people in board. Looking forward too the next read.

Fun story, appalling editing.

Please, let me proof these books? I spend as much time entering corrections to the more egregious errors as I do reading.

I am still interested in the storyline and characters. The world building has been great as well. I just wish the author had a proof reader.

different

This is a different SF series. Slow, fast . Not the normal flow of space SF. It is a story I start and stop and come back to.

This series started out slowly and I wondered why the author went into so much detail on their training and history. As I continued on ,just finished book 4, the action hand pace has definitely picked up. I realize that to understand how star force works and operates and understand what the characters had to go through to be a part of it now makes perfect sense. I am enjoying this series very much.
