On the afternoon of January 12, 2010, a catastrophic earthquake rocked Port au Prince, Haiti. The rumble was felt over fifty miles away, including at Destiny Village in Pierre Payen. The aftermath was incomprehensible. The death toll estimates range from 100,000 to 300,000 Haitians, and thousands of children were left orphaned and homeless. It is at that time that author Lori Ann Cresap's passion for Haiti began. She has since walked its dirt roads, entered its mud shacks, and held its dying children.
