A Conspiracy of God-Killers: Short Story

Rate this book
The poetically-crafted stories found in this collection by Triyanto Triwikromo –the first by this writer in English translation, are leavened by sardonic wit, a touch of the absurd, and the bizarre in a world gone mad. A Conspiracy of God-Killers is not itself the title of any of the short stories in this collection but derives from a suggestion by Triyanto himself. And small wonder! The title embodies the dominant theme of these that organized violence and persecution of the vulnerable amounts to a conspiracy against God.

The short stories by Triyanto are built by the scent of magical realism, with backgrounds and figures filled by Indonesian-ness (Javanese puppetries, Queen of the sea mythologies and Wali Sanga to name a few). With his jumping-talking style, tend to make this collection of short stories, difficult to follow and enjoy for some readers. Even so, his imagination spiced with superstition will bring us to the wilderness. However odd the stories he depict, these short stories are never too absurd.
