Book 2: After the Storm Tim Dwyer and Renee Keller embark on a romantic journey, but their budding relationship is threatened by storms of horror and heartache. Can they ride out the storm or will their hopes be dashed?
This review is for all three books in this series. I was so excited to be able to glimpse some of my favorite characters in this new series. I really enjoyed every single book but I now just don’t know what I’m going to read. This was a great return to Dawson. It will be missed.
This a great family saga read. It is good to read about family and community pulling together to solve problems. I hope Runner is found. Snuggle Bunny is a complete irritant!
This time we read/listen to the romantic story of Tim and Renee and how they try desperately to keep their love for each other and life itself alive while life and various horrid men try their damnedest to prevent that from happening. Thank goodness for the happily-ever-after! Tim and Renee come across as strong, yet caring people and I loved that about them. I was also highly amused by the antics of Skippy - he is just so cute! Linda Bridey has again managed to capture the essence of life and love in this spellbinding story and Mary Ann Weathers has read it very pleasingly. I listened to a promotional copy of the audiobook and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
Another great story in the series. This is just a really enjoyable and entertaining series that keeps getting better. If you like clean western romance stories this is a great series and worth your time.
While these are clean romance stories that deal with some very serious subjects, they are so much more as well. Each book has a variety of subjects and situations that are happening at the same time. They are all done/handled very well. The multiple story-lines going on just add to the enjoyment of the books.
This story is about the relationship between Tim Dwyer and Renee Keller. Tim is just a sweet, good hearted and supportive kind of guy. Renee is an independent, outspoken strong woman. Opposites do attract. They have been friends since childhood that friendship has turned into much more. An emotional story.
This story does deal with the violation of the main character.
Mary Ann Weathers does the narration for this story and she does a great job. Good character voices. Pleasant voice. Very easy to listen to for long periods of time. She was able to convey the emotions of the characters. Overall very enjoyable.

Strong females, and situations in where love and friendship conquers all.
At the beginning of the book I was really confused about the time when it took place. As I first started reading, I was imagining a western town. Then I was thrown into a 1950's diner sort of theme. Then to the prohibition era, and then I find myself in WWII. I decided not to mind any time tables and just go with the story.
I felt the writer tried including all controversial subjects of the past into one book. Far too many plots and characters. Even ignoring the different events in time all at once, it was hard for me to be captivated or drawn into the book.
Renee Keller was always a flirty girl. The story portrays her as a "good girl" labeled slut. She's also interested in politics as women can't vote or hold a respectable job. She's a feminist for her times, and a sweet girl who does charitable work.
Tim Dwyer is one of her best friends. After a wedding they both attended, he starts seeing her as more than a friend. I didn't like Tim towards the end. He is supportive of Renee after a horrible ordeal. Yet... Couldn't see how not telling him about a plot to capture two rapists was worse than the act. Instead of being there he walks away. Good thing sex fixed everything.
I thought the romance between Renee and Tim was sweet. Even with her flirty mouth. The wedding day is scheduled for Renee and Tim to finally give their vows. Suddenly the day becomes dark and stormy. The winds are ravishing everything in sight. They both say their vows quickly, and run out of the church before it is destroyed. Towards the end the story jumps once again to new situations and characters. Raven leads a search for his youngest son; whom they haven't seen for two years. He had gone off to find himself, and they have no way to know if he is even alive.
Overall the story is enjoyable by the end of it. The main part of the story involves a very sensitive topic; and the writer did a great job to show how love can overcome all. The women in the story are portrayed as strong, capable of doing what they put their minds into. You will enjoy the story; which is both sad and happy for the main female character.
The narration by Mary Ann Weathers was good. She did a great job with the different character voices, perfect pitch and tone for each one of them.

At the beginning of this book, I was really confused about the time that it took place. I was expecting a "western-western". The language of the main character confused me. At one point she said, "I certainly wouldn't mind if he jumped me". It just didn't sound right. It really through me off. As I settled into the book, the whole story line grew on me. There were several controversial subjects for the time (1918) confronted in the book. Maybe a few too many for one book, but I went with it. The women were portrayed as very strong women...bonus points. Overall, I really enjoyed this book by the end. The romance of Renee and Tim was sweet. The narration by Mary Ann Weathers was decent. Personally, I have a problem with narrators that really yell even when the character does. I don't want to have to keep changing the volume. She did a great job with the different character voices and there were quite a few.
I am so excited the Linda Bridley started a new series using the offspring from a longtime favorite series. It is great to see how everyone is doing. She has the ability to make a reader feel part of the story. I admit I cried when Tim found Emily after the unimaginable happen. I don't do many reviews because I h a vs a hard time with words. But will cry and laugh with this book...especially the last sentence --- "It's not momma. If the butler isn't happy, no body's happy." Or something like that.
This book had me pulling for the love relationship. It had me missing my family when I was reading about how the family relationships are. It had me missing my best friend when Renee was talking to hers. This book stirs many emotions, and that's a great thing. Not many authors can do that to take you around the circle of emotions.
I love the depth and complexities of the characters and relationships of Linda Bridey books. I look forward to revisiting these characters in a later book.
Book 2 in "The Dawson Chronicles" re-visits old friends.
Renee was a strong independent woman, Tim had been her friend for years. When he asked her dad to court her and was given his blessing. A lot of twists and turns to keep the listener rooting for a relationship.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.

Follow Renee and Tim, their families and friends. Adventures for all, lots of characters and situations to enjoy and cope with. This series delights with complex characters, their interactions, their acceptance of people regardless of race. Thanks for new clean western books grandma loves them too.
Despite the sensitive nature of this story, the topic was handled very well. Love can overcome many things and a solid foundation of friendship is the best beginning to a strong marriage. The side stories were very entertaining also. Linda keep up the great work!
