Lucas Brown is a young werewolf who just finished his first semester at Salem State University. He aced all his classes, said goodbye to his psychic best friend, and played a last successful Human versus Zombies game of the year. Now it’s time to go home for the holidays and forget about Salem for a little while.

Except, his werewolf boyfriend just admitted to him that he plans to spend his Christmas alone on the empty school campus and has done so for the past three years...

Now Lucas is driving home with Dean Gray in the passenger seat, and his parents are more than excited to meet the alpha that he’s brought home. The only problem is, Lucas never told them that he and Dean are dating, and he plans to keep it that way. Too bad it’s going to be next to impossible with his horny werewolf boyfriend constantly stealing kisses.

There's a part of me, albeit a small part, that wants to be more generous with my rating. But I think that might be because of the migraine I'm currently nursing with copious amounts of caffeine and antihistamines...

This just doesn't deserve a very high rating. I mean, I appreciate Harris's apparent love of playing Humans vs. Zombies, but I'm not sure that appreciation is enough to build a story on. No, in fact, I'm sure it's not. This was boring. And kind of pointless. It never really focused on any one thing, nor did it successfully work as an all-encompassing tale of one young man's first year of college. It wanted to be a romance, a buddy story, a paranormal missive, a coming-of-age work....but it wasn't any of those things because every aspect was lacking. The relationships (romantic and platonic) weren't well-established or at all intricate, they just sort of happened and the reader is expected to just accept them. The paranormal aspect seemed an afterthought, only there to explain why Dean and Lucas are initially drawn to/wary of one another. As far as coming-of-age....well. It only covers one year in Lucas's life, and he doesn't seem to change much in that year. Yes, he gets a boyfriend, figures out a few things about his family, and moves in with Dean, but he doesn't really grow as a person.

And when I got to the end of the fourth book and they still weren't mated, I couldn't help but wonder what the fuck the point of any of this was. Other than to show me another author who doesn't pay attention to words or how to use them.

"Lucas started clapping amorously."

"'Talk about being blind sighted!'"

"...making the omega cry out before his alpha set a disastrous pace."

That is highly disconcerting in a sex scene. Highly.

Lucas is the only one in his family with a sweet tooth, so he happily munched on a few pieces of chocolate cake while everyone else just takes a few bites of their respective pieces before abandoning them. But then, at Christmas, all of Lucas's brothers are sitting on the porch eating pie.

Why?

Are Lucas's eyes blue or green? Because it changes.

It's mentioned several times that the drive from Lucas and Dean's college to Lucas's home in Oklahoma is twenty-six hours. Then, in the fourth book, it's only eighteen.

I really don't understand why some people even bother. If you're not going to do it properly, knock it off.

(this review is based on the first volume only)

This M/M shifter story had potential at first. The take on the usual lore appeared original and the main character potentially interesting and rich.
The first sign things were not going too well was that the author gave essentially no detail on the characters' school life: the first year of college is bound to be overwhelming even for genius grade students because they are simply not used to this wholly different life. Of this, not a word. The characters only lived during their HVZ games.
Later on the story turned out to be more than traditional - and therefore disappointing - in respecting the usual (usual these days... lores tend to follow trends, just like fashion) clichés: the alpha is all testosterone and the omega is a helpless, hapless putty puppy in his dominant hands... Boring. Just boring and annoying.

Another problem is that this story, which is divided in four parts, is, in my opinion, far too expensive both for length and quality, even in the bundle edition. I know I appear stingy when I say this, but for that price I expect much more length and quality.

A great adult teen coming of age werewolf story

A heartwarming story, werewolves, witches and vampires all come together at Salem state to get a higher education and play a paintball style game of zombies v hu!mans.
Love between a omega in denial and an alpha tossed from his family. Love and admissions come. My only regret is there is no more story.

I put off reading this one for so long. I saw the word zombies and that was it. But it's nothing like I thought. In fact, the game sounds so fun I'd play it. The characters are ones you want to know and read more about. I enjoyed it all and wanted more. Lucas is the kind of omega Noah Harris is known for and does best. Dean is the perfect alpha for him. Between HVZ battles, home visits, vampires, and visiting relatives Lucas and Dean learn how much they love each other and how what they will do to stay together.

This is the complete collection of Humans vs. Zombies. I loved this series. I loved this story line and the characters. I think Noah Harris had done a great job fleshing out the story line and developing his characters. I recommend this series. I received this free collection in exchange for an honest review.

This collection features the relationship and how it progresses between Dean an Alpha werewolf and Lucas an Omega werewolf.

In book one: Lucas and Dean meet while playing Humans vs. Zombies. We get to see them fight their attraction and finally give in and start a relationship all while playing practice games of HvZ.

In book two: Lucas invites Dean home as a friend over winter break, and we get to meet Lucas’s parents and his brothers. Dean has to pass a couple of dominance tests by Lucas’s father and later by his brothers, and he passes them just fine. Luca’s family find out about the relationship and give their blessing so long as Dean remembers that Lucas is going to college so that he can have a better life then his parents have.

In book three: Lucas and Dean have to deal with jealousy in the midst of the biggest game of HvZ of the year. Lucas is jealous because Dean is spending a lot of time with Sally and Paul the other senior members of HvZ, and Dean is jealous because Lucas makes a new friend named Bran (a vampire) while playing HvZ and is spending all of his time with him. When Lucas gets turned into a zombie by Dean (the original zombie), they finally talk out their problems and get their relationship back on track.

In book four: Lucas and Dean have moved in together. They live in a one bedroom apartment off campus; Dean has a new job that pays more than his old one, and he has forbidden Lucas from getting a job for his summer vacation. Then Dean’s grandmother comes to visit. At first, Lucas is excited about meeting the only relative that still talks to Dean and then he meets her. All Grandma Gray can do is criticize everything that Lucas does or doesn’t do and lets him know the right way that an Omega should behave and do things. And Grandma Gray should know since she is also an Omega. Lucas is torn between who he should be pleasing, Dean or Grandma Gray. In the end, he avoids Dean’s grandma and continues his friendship with his vampire friend Bran. Dean isn’t happy that Lucas is hanging out with Bran again because he is afraid that Bran wants to drink his blood and that it might kill him. Lucas tells Bran about Dean’s concerns and Bran says he can do a blood bond with James to prove that he never had any intention in drinking his blood or any other werewolf’s blood. After Bran and James do the blood bond Lucas gets the best news ever when Dean’s grandmother says that she is going home. Come to find out that she actually does like Lucas when she gives him a hug as she is leaving. Later that night Bran texts wanting to know if Lucas wants to play HvZ on next Saturday.

Hvz Omnibus comprises four short stories telling us how two young werewolves meet and fall in love at University.
In the first one, All Out, we accompany a very naïve Lucas Brown in his first experience away from his family/pack. He goes to University, makes some friends and meets Dean Gray, the other werewolf at University, who seems to dislike Lucas on sight. But soon, all Dean aggressiveness turns into something different…
In the second one, All Season, Lucas takes Dean to his family for Christmas, thus risking his alpha father and brothers finding out about his relationship with Dean.
The third story, All Game, focuses in the game they play together and which was decisive in bringing Lucas and Dean together, and also in the jealousy and insecurity they both have to deal with when consolidating their relationship.
The last story, Ripping Into Darkness, shows us Lucas and Dean as a consolidated couple, who decide to move together and have to face Dean's terrible grandmother and her conceptions of how his grandson's relationship should be developing…
Hvz it is entertaining, but there is a lot about the game they play together and not very much in terms of their relationship. By the end of the final story there are many issues in their relationship/future together which haven't been addressed and that makes it not wholly satisfactory as a story.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest & unbiased review.
I've eagerly followed this series and am pleased to see it all gathered together in one package. Lucas is an immediately likable character and captures the experience of a rural farm boy coming to college and the big city. The fact that he's a werewolf and falls in with a group of eclectic supernaturals and humans such as psychics, vampires, and devotees of the Humans versus Zombies game is just the icing on the cake. For those who love a growly, alpha love interest, Dean is your man. Lucas can't be sure at first whether Dean wants to kill him or kiss him. The fun details of the game and the warm camaraderie of the gamers and friends make these books more than just an intense romantic relationship story. Oh, and lets not forget the *hot* (mostly) bedroom scenes which build in intensity as the series moves one. I just hate to see the series ending but am glad to be able to easily read it through again when I'm looking for something light-hearted and sexy.

I like the two main characters Lucas, an omega werewolf in his first year at university, where he meets Dean , a senior and an alpha werewolf.
Although Dean has most alpha traits he respects Noah's natural aptitudes that make him not a regular omega.
The series follows development of the first year of their relationship against the backdrop of their membership of the college club which plays human versus zombies, the HvZ of the title.
I alternated between ebook and audio. The latter brought the game to life and Dean's grandmother, a traditional omega!

I wasn't sure I could get into this story since it seems to be about some college kids playing a game. However its more about the relationships that Lucas, Alex, Marty, and James, new college students, make. They fall in love and grow up. Lucas falls for Dean rather quickly but they have a few ups and downs to go through before they seem to be solid. Alex and Marty's story isn't really told which is a bummer and James was barely mentioned.

Reluctant Omega, strong Alpha - loved Lucas and Dean, the characters are so well rounded and the story is one of Noah's best. Lots of twists and turns and the depth I would expect from Noah.
