DNF 5 pages in. Any book that promotes restriction and labels foods as "good" or "bad" is a no for me. I picked this up hoping it could aid me in my recovery. Just goes to show never judge a book by its cover I guess!
This little book is designed to give you a piece of advice about nutrition etc. every day for a year. It is characterized by the seasons and the advice is themed that way.
While I really enjoyed the"Beauty Food Profiles" that explain the heath and beauty benefits of an herb or food, overall the book was lacking.
I didn't feel like it gave enough implementable advice for each day - some days were better than others but it didn't build and didn't really suggest applicability.
it's cute and pretty but I think there are better resources.
Glad to have finally cleared this one off of my shelf after 3 years.
A fun little twist on the typical devotional this mini book offers daily advice for living a healthier lifestyle. Divided into the four seasons each entry offers ideas for making taking care of your body. It has been fun to see what each new day proffers. Some days a particular food's healthful properties are highlighted. Another day might tackle a beauty regimen idea. The next entry may give helpful hints for treating a common ailment. From recipes to exercise to mantras Eat Pretty Every Day makes a great gift for anyone interested in health.
This isn't really a book you read in one sitting. It's a mini-version of the authors two longer Eat Pretty books. Each page has a tip or inspirational message to help encourage the reader to take on healthier good habits. Some of the tips were vague and couldn't be applied in their brief snippet of a summary. Other tips were immediately applicable without further research. The cover is pretty & the message is Ok. Nothing special or unique
Received from my bestie as a Christmas gift. haven’t finished the book but seeing that it’s a year long devotional I marked as read. I am really enjoying reading a page a day and learning something new each day. It’s a beautiful book, inside and out. I definitely recommend it!
I really loved getting a daily healthy inspiration each day whether it be food or skin care or self care. I learned and tried a lot of new things to feel great inside and out. Especially wonderful for cancer survivors looking to dig deeper into nutrition and taking care of yourself during or after treatment.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Eat Pretty but I didn't hate it. I got these two together and I saw that this was meant to put the information from Eat Pretty into more practical terms and helps you put it into day to day practice, I was more willing to read it. Plus I'm a sucker for new recipes, especially healthier ones. My favourites from this book are Sleepytime Cashew-Gingerbread Milk (to replace my nightly hot chocolate), the Beautifying Gomasio (which just sounded interesting- to use seaweed as a condiment), and Shiitake-Herb Scramble (because I need as many ideas for breakfast as I can get). My biggest surprise, or issue really, is that these books are all about the benefits of whole foods especially vegetables, but there aren't many vegetables in these's recipes. If I were to make them, I see so many ways to easily add another two veg and it just makes me think why didn't she think of that?
While I understand there are differing opinions on gluten, I appreciate the fact that on Spring Day 75, she addresses that it's about the individual even though she believes gluten-free is best. On one hand, I like that this splits all of the information into manageable chunks. But it also makes it all seem disjointed.
Because Eat Pretty focused a lot on food, and this is a bit more of an accompaniment, a lot of the daily tasks are lifestyle based like dry brushing, and alternate nostril breathing exercises. I think with so many days to cover, it's no surprise that some are better than others. But I'd say that I skimmed over more than I actually took the read. It gets a bit repetitive, especially having just read Eat Pretty- I think the information isn't new enough.
Would I recommend it? I don't think so. I think that Eat Pretty was more cohesive and had a flow to the writing, and if you've read Eat Pretty, it isn't really worth it to get this as well.
There's so many wonderful ideas in this book! Little things you can do here and there to try to incorporate some good-for-you things into your day-to-day. When I was reading the intro to this book I was unsure it would be for me. She started out by listing the "Top Beauty Betrayers" as 1. Alcohol 2. Caffeine 4. Dairy 7. Grilled Foods 11. Soda (That's out of 12 things). I love those things. I mean...I truly LOVE Caffeine, Alcohol, and Dairy. I gots ta have my cheese man! I was thinking "Hmm big time NOPE for me"! How can I live without those things?! *Hahaha *nervous laughter
But then I kept reading (shocking I know!), and there were so many things that I did like! So while I may not be cutting 3-4 of those "Beauty Betrayers" out of my life anytime soon, I will be making some other positive changes that will hopefully help balance the scales. If you're not scared off by the intro to this book, you're in for a treat friends!
This book was so cute yet very informative. This is a great book for people who want to learn more about the individual benefits from specific food for you body and skin, that is mainly what i was looking for when i found this book. But you also gain a lot of knowledge on the way you eat your food, more specifically this book will tell you specific foods to pair together for maximum retention of vitamins and nutrients. For example, Pistachios and Figs make a great pairing because the Vitamin B6 in the pistachios and the magnesium in the figs together support healthy sleep, stress reduction, and a healthy nervous system. This book contains too much other things to summarize in this review, like recipes and happy-living tips, but i believe that this book is benefitial to anyone who is interested in healthy living. I would say that this book is mainly plant-based, although she does mention eggs and certain fish from time to time, but not enough to turn anyone who is plant-based away from it. I am vegan myself and did not find this distracting. Also, did i mention how freaking cute this book is!
Eat Pretty Everyday 5🌟 Health/Wellness 📖📖📖📖 I love this daily guide to better health. Evey day was different. There were mantras, recipes, food profiles, wellness tips and more. Book 64/2021 #bookworm #healthandwellness #healthylife #books #eatpretty #boostagram
This book was a breeze to get through and packed full of useful information. I’m not the kind of person who likes to stress about what I’m eating, so I liked that her approach was about adding healthy habits rather than a strict diet. Also, the fact that this book is about building inner beauty - not just good looks - was heartwarming!
I love this little book! It took me a long time to get through it as it isn't a book you sit down and read as you would a novel. My first pass was from start to finish, my next and continued passes (as I plan to continue to use it as I do my daily meditation sessions) will be aligned with the seasons and calendar. Very useful, inspirational information in an attractive, easy to use format!
Tried and failed to read it each day so ended up reading cover to cover and found there were quite a few repeats which was disappointing. They were rephrased but felt like a cheat. Some good pointers but left me with pages of things I need to go away and research more because there wasn't enough info. Still, some good notes to take away, and left my inspired at times.
Lots of great health tips that you don’t usually hear. A lot of science behind the tips. Great for your first book when you are beginning a healthy lifestyle to learn new tips! Can be fun and interactive since there is a different tip for every day of the year. I read it through and took notes instead of choosing one tip a day.
liked the idea of days and seasons . I like to follow a healthy style because I believe it will make me look beautiful , but I felt bored Probably because I know all that . Ideal for beginners and teens who want to take care of themselves .
I did enjoy this year's Daily Inspirational Read. Liked that you could start anytime. But I prefer my Daily reads to have Dates E.g. December 21 rather than numbers - Day 356. It's just easier for me to keep track that way. This one complicates it further with Seasonal Counting - Winter Day 1 etc.
Cute book, although some of the ingredients are difficult to find. After many failed attempts to read a page every day I ended up reading it cover to cover and enjoyed it more that way!
I love this! When I follow some of her advice I feel so much better. More energy and less bloating. You take what works for you from here. Some things will and some things won’t.
I loved Eat Pretty Every Day! It’s full of insightful tips on nutrition, beauty, and healthy living, all designed to help you look and feel your best. The book makes it easy to understand how the things we consume affect our skin, hair, and overall well-being. I found it incredibly helpful and would definitely recommend it to anyone starting their self-care journey. Eat Pretty Every Day makes building healthy habits both enjoyable and manageable, and taking the pages one day at a time makes it even easier for beginners to establish routines without feeling overwhelmed.
What a Beautiful Book This book would make a wonderful gift for someone special in your life, your mother, daughter or best friend. Give one to yourself first, you deserve it. You can read this as a daily devotional, or if you are like me, you won't be able to put it down.I love the way the book is divided into seasons. The recipes given, as well as the health tips are appropriate for the section it is listed in. Autumn suggest eating more squash, pumpkin and sweet potato, since they are readily available. It is also packed with motivating goals, challenges and Mealtime Mantras. "Today's meals are gifts to my body, as this day is a gift to my life."
