Sellers, in cooperation with the US Government, presents an accessible introduction into the world outside our world. Understanding Space is a fantastic primer on all the parts of the successful space mission, and should be considered foundational reading in any space based curriculum.

Used this text for my orbital mechanics class for my Master's. The back says it's geared towards high school seniors and undergrads, but it actually is a good book for a graduate program, I learned a lot from it.

Despite the title, this is an engineer's primer to space and spacecraft design. In that, it excels!
