It's 2005. Josh Thompson is about to graduate from high school. He wants nothing more than to spend one last summer working at the video store and hanging out with his best friends before going away to college in an effort to escape the boredom of life in rural southern Indiana. But when the valedictorian of his class gives a speech extolling the virtues of saying what needs to be said before it's too late, he suddenly decides to share his feelings for the girl of his dreams, Nicole Ross.
Josh's friends think he's dumb. His boss thinks he's lazy. His ex-girlfriend thinks he's boring. Nicole thinks he's cute. But Josh doesn't know what to think. With limited time before everything is set to change forever, Josh sets out to navigate the confusing time between graduation and college, learning more about himself than he thought he ever would.
