Her hands grip the steering wheel and her foot slams down on the brake. Everything around her seems to slow. All except for her heart, which just about beats out of her chest. Adrenaline surges as the wheels lock on her car. There is a god-awful screeching noise as the tires skid across the asphalt. It’s too little too late and her vehicle collides with the large, furry beast, with a hard thud. Metal twists and bones snap like twigs.
The creature is flung from her vehicle, landing in a mangled, bleeding heap. One of its legs kicks out uselessly. Jackie can’t believe it’s even still alive. Despite the danger, her years of veterinary training kick in and she gets to work to try and save its life. She should never have taken her eyes off of the road, not even for a second.

So focused on escaping his pack mates, he doesn’t see the vehicle approaching until it’s too late. As he lies on the side of the road, broken and bleeding, he can’t help but think that it’s such bad luck. Can’t help but to feel seriously sorry for himself. I am ADDICTED to this series; I can get enough of this paranormal romantic goodness. With alpha males in all shapes and sizes with Ménage à trois, MFM love triangles (eat your heart out), Vampires, Shifters, and Elves. It is Sexy, it is Sizzling, it is smoking Hot, it is Erotic so much so that it jumps right off the pages and leaves you needing a cold shower. Sassy, headstrong females, and fighting to the death is not uncommon. So, what happens when smoking hot vampires and shifters, mortal enemies want the same thing; this is where things get so interesting, and the fun begins. These men are ruthless, they are vicious, power players, they are violent. There is lots of action, danger and war around every corner but given all that they love fast, they love with their whole heart and make you want to go and find your own. Charlene has woven a captivating, tangled web of lies, deceit, suspense, drama and love that will leave you breathless. The characters are to die for, and each have their own voice in this series. I love that we get their POV because it makes them more real. It is not all doom and gloom though there are plenty of witty moments and humour that will have you laughing out loud. Don’t even stop to think just click and read and tell me I am not wrong. Happy reading!
With 95 pages I was definitely looking for a novella to cleanse my palate between much longer books. However, I made myself be a trooper and trudged along. I just couldn't help but be annoyed by the stilted inner and outer dialogue. The first 30-40% or so I wondered if this author was really young such as the way it was written. I am very surprised at the number of books listed she/he wrote, unless they are also equally short. The length is great, but following along without getting bored was the issue for me. Pretty sure I won't be reading another.
Great quick holiday read. It is listed as part of The Chosen Series (#6), but is really a stand alone novella that happens to take place in Sweetwater. I am hoping for more of the pack to have stories as I am reading The Program series. Can't wait for more!
I just can't get enough of shifters! this was sexy and steamy. It was very enjoyable with a happy ending. I loved the tension that built up between them. I hadn't read any other books in this series but it didn't matter since this was a stand alone with no cliff hanger.
SHORT, SWEET, & SEXY!!! Title: Wolf Whisperer Author: Charlene Hartnady Series: The Chosen Designation: Standalone Novella, No CLiffhanger (Originally Published as Shifter Beneath the Mistletoe in the Shifter Wonderland Box Set Released December 2015) Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Super Sexy Stars***** Wow! Love it! Wolf Whisperer by Charlene Hartnady is a standalone novella originally entitled Shifter Beneath the Mistletoe and released as part of the 2015 Shifter Wonderland Anthology. It's a quick, fast-paced, well-crafted super steamy romp filled to the brim with angst and heartwarming romance. This book may be relatively short, but it is a complete story with a beginning, middle, and very happy ending. And as the original title implied, it is a story that takes place during Christmas and definitely features a whole lot of mistletoe! It's a disastrous holiday that will forever change the life of one Sweetwater veterinarian. The narrative is beautifully written in the third-person with his and her perspectives from our two protagonists, lovely, kind-hearted Jackie and handsome, sweet wolf shifter Tyler. Their Christmas Eve may have started out on the wrong foot, so to speak, especially after Jacke hit Tyler with her car, but it quickly became a holiday neither could forget. Thank heavens for mistletoe! I fell in love with both Tyler and Jackie. Tyler was such a flirty, dirty cutie pie, a real horndog. He was on his way to the Christmas Festival in Sweetwater with only one thing on his mind - to find a mate, and fast since he only had 2 days to do it. The one thing he never expected was for his mate to find him instead and knock him off his feet, or I should say paws - literally! Jackie was such a sweet, somewhat innocent soul who'd had nothing but bad luck in her previous relationships and had sworn off men and relationships. She was not originally from Sweetwater and had only been a resident for a few years. She actually thought all the residents were a little crazy and never believed the stories about vampires and shifters... until she hit the largest wolf she'd ever seen with her car on Christmas Eve and said wolf turned into a huge, hunky man. Oh, and did I mention he was naked? Oh yes! *swoon* Naturally, she couldn't abandon him on the side of the road. What's a girl to do? Well, she is a vet after all and he is half animal, so she treats him as a patient, of course - albeit a very sexy patient! Oh my! But as his doctor, can she remain professional and not give in to his tempting flirtation? Or could it be more? We'll see!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I've been a diehard Charlene Hartnady fan for several years. She's one of my top five go-to paranormal romance authors. I've read every single book she's written and race to Amazon to purchase her new releases. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language and steamy, dreamy sex. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! This story may be short and sweet, but it packs a mighty punch! Loved it!
Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book six of seven of The Chosen series.

Wolf Whisperer: The Chosen Series Book 6 Charlene Hartnady Kindle unlimited purchase Tyler has worked his way up the list, now it's his turn to look for a mate so him and some of the other wolf's beside to attend the Christmas celebration in Sweetwater. But he NEVER makes it there. Jackie is a vet. She's on call on Christmas eve and driving in to work one of the things she doesn't want to do is hear Christmas songs. When she looks up from the radio she sees a dog running right at her. She gets out of the car and walks up to what she now sees is a LARGE wolf. But before her eyes, he changes into the most gorgeous man she has ever seen. This is a FAST story. The pace/length of the story takes nothing away from it. He falls, she questions, she knows she missed out. Just what this series needed a little gift at Christmas...
Really enjoyed reading this. It was humorous and unexpected. Tyler and Jackie's interactions were comical at times and serious at other times. I found the dialogue and storyline easy to follow. The introduction of the various animals in the vet's care added another layer, especially when the dog, Queen, was brought in. Jackie and Tyler's interactions and conversation had me laughing sometimes and holding my breath sometimes. I really liked this book and would highly recommend reading it!!
I usually love this authors books, but this one left me a bit m’eh..I felt like it was written in a rush as a bit of an afterthought. Characters were fairly big standard,so was the plot. Sex scenes were ok,but what really annoyed me was the inconsistencies in the time line..the first meeting h of the main characters happens on Christmas Even, yet later on in the book 3 weeks has passed yet they meet again and it’s still Christmas?!! Someone didn’t proof read very well I feel!!!
Jackie is not happy she had to work on Christmas eve. Suddenly she hits a wolf with her car. Tyler is heading into town to find a mate. He is in wolf form when he is hot by a car. Jackie takes him to get office to help him heal. The fun begins as sparks fly. This was good story. While it was steamy and there was a little confrontation, there was not much in the way of action other than the bedroom kind.
Cute little novella but why it was slapped in the middle of the chosen series is beyond me!
Totally not necessary n especially as I really wanted to read ketos story frustrating.
A great read but get it out the chosen series n leave it where it belongs n fits- the program. Absolutely no links to any of the previous books other than the town ffs!
Fantastic book as usual from this author. A great storyline, well and smoothly written. For adults only! I really like this author and I am looking forward to reading more of her books. So goodbye for now while I carry on reading more books by this author. Thank you Charlene Chewie
I love every book to this series!! Everyone gets a five star rating due to the fact that they are so entertaining. These books are just the way I love them, erotic with romance and sex scenes to make you sweat and die for plus a happy ending.
A heartwarming Christmas story beginning with a scary accidental meeting between two very different and lonely individuals and their sizzling attraction that could lead to hope for a very bright and joyous future. Great story that will cheer your heart!!!
Not my favorite of the author's books...I found the story and characters to be boring and the same as many others I have read before. Lackluster. But not bad. Just nothing above and beyond.
Ms. Hartnady writes as though she knows shifters . Maybe she does ? Lol ! A short novella about a woman who doesn't know how ready she is for some loving and a male shifter who doesn't realize he may have met his mate . Hotness ensues !
I just love your books. I have read all of Charlene Hartnady vampire mating series. This book is just as good I recommend it to her fans and anyone who likes a great wolf shifter romance
Really didn't get the point of this novella where did Tyler suddenly appear from don't recall him mentioned in any of the other books this book didn't seem to relate to any of the others. This was a bit of a waste of time and fairly boring.
This is a Novella length book, with Christmas spirit and some hot scenes. It not as good as the main series, but still a good quick read. Do yourself a favor and read the main series starting with the vampire kings!
I love books that are smooth and easy to read and I don't mean the words I'm talking about the flow and this author is incredible I own every one of her books and I'm telling you you won't be disappointed get the series it's incredible
This was a quick read. Right from the start it was just pretty much just him and her. Just one other character in the story and that's it. Like I said, a quick little story but held my interest the whole time.
This was just short and spicy. I enjoyed reading and this and even I was upset that she didn't take a leap of faith with him. Worked out in the end but they suffered unnecessarily.
