As always little mouse is as cute and frisky as ever. Enjoyed seeing his little antics as he prepared for his school day. More zany shenanigans for our favorite cookie gobbling mouse.
Time for School, Mouse is an entertaining book that will capture the attention of children around the age range of two through five. This book would still be a great book to read in a classroom to kindergartens. The book is about a mouse that misplaced his homework is searching for it before he has to leave for school. He searches all of his belongings until he finds it right before he has to head out the door. Many lessons could be taught through this short children's book. The main lesson that could be pulled and taught in class could be to always be prepared for school ahead of time. That way you won't find yourself rushing around like Mouse was.
This book is super cute in the way that the mouse gets ready for school. We pull this book in our room when we have a student that is struggling coming to school. We never make our students read a book but we sometimes use it for our circle time.
Laura Numeroff did not let me down on this one. Story is so cute and the illustrations are great. Perfect for any young child going to daycare or to school.
The "If You Give..." series is another favorite of mine. I didn't know there were spin-offs featuring the beloved characters in other scenarios! 5/5 stars for this one.
“Five stars, I want to read it again. I liked when he dumped his whole backpack out and so many things are in it. I love mousey and his surprise face. I loved the whole book. 🐭” - Lucas
A distracted Mouse has trouble finding his homework. Not much of a story, but it does provide an opportunity for discussing the best way to get ready for school.
"Time for School, Mouse!" by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond,is an early reader in which school aged learn the routine of their favorite mouse as he goes off to school. At the start of the book, Mouse makes sure that he has all of his school supplies but at the end of the book, he finds out he's still missing one thing! "Time for School, Mouse!" is a short 11 page book that contains short sentences for children to understand. Since the illustrations and texts in the book have a white background, the illustrations and text, themselves, stand out more to the reader. Although the main character is a mouse, it made me entirely too excited to go to school! As a reader, I reread the book twice because I wanted to read the text first and then view the pictures to get a better understanding of the book.I highly recommend "Time for School, Mouse!" for an early reader because it gets straight to the point and keeps the readers' attention.
Lovable, adorable, not-quite-organized Mouse, from IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, is back in this fun board book that's perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
It's time for school, but Mouse is definitely not ready. He can't find his notebook, his pencils, or his homework. It's time to search, and Mouse sure finds a lot of things - his crayons, his doctor's kit, his cookies.
But it's time to leave, and there's still no homework in sight!
Young children will delight in the further adventures of Mouse, and this would even be a quick, easy story for beginning readers.
Browsing books to give my friends' children as gifts since I won't gift anything I haven't first read myself.
Mouse is at it again. The board books for this series are a bit less involved, but Mouse still steals the show. He's supposed to be getting ready for school but finds himself repeatedly distracted. We've all been there, big and small! I thought this was a great take on getting ready for school and will be adding it to the gift list, particularly because it feels quite relatable.
Ellie is enjoying the mouse books right now. This shorter Mouse books gives her a chance to "read" a lot of the content. It's fairly repetitive and the pictures give good clues so she learned this one pretty quick. Her favorite page is when Mouse dumps his backpack upside down and there is a whole pile of things that comes out. She likes to find the eggs and the bottle of ketchup each time we look at the picture!
Pretty good. Not my favorite, but nothing wrong with it either.
*Edited to say: My one year old loves this book. She chooses it to read over and over again. It helps that there's a school bus in the book as she loves anything car related. she also tells me that Mouse's new lunch box is also a car. She doesn't believe me when I tell her that it isn't.
My students absolutely love this though I did not as much. I think its just the thought of seeing a mouse/rat in school terrifies me. And having the "main" character as a mouse was a bit hard to explain to my toddler class. I kept getting questions like "teacher do all mouse go to school?", "does mouse go to school with us?", "teacher, where is mouse in the classroom?", etc.
This a book designed for babies and toddlers. The main character of the book is a mouse who is totally unorganized! The pages are filled lots of chaotic activity, it would be difficult for a young child to decipher objects in the pictures.

Mouse is packing his backpack for school but can't find his homework. He looks high and low, but gets distracted by all of his toys and games. In the end, his homework is the very last place that he looks (his backpack).
A good board book for back-to-school season. Toddlers and PreK.
