Things aren’t always as they appear. Clayton Allen is a man with a secret, one he clings to making it possible to control his rage. After being cheated out of his ancestral Florida home, he strikes out on his own hoping to find a place to start over and thinks the Broken J might just give him a chance. But how long can he hold his mask of teasing dandy in place before everyone knows him for who he truly is? Muiread (Meg) James, romantic and dreamy longs for the excitement of the big city. Her head is so full of thoughts of tall, dark and handsome heroes, that when confronted with the real thing her pride threatens to destroy them both. Her fiery temper and Penny Dreadful dreams of chivalry will toss her straight into a situation that might not only be her undoing but may demolish the trust of the Broken J. Will two people determined to best the other finally hear the call of a wandering heart and be joined together or be shattered by the impact of wills?
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
Another great book by Danni Roan! I love getting to know the characters in her book! Clayton comes to work at the Broken J. He's originally from Florida but he worked with Joshua's brother. The first person he sees is Meg. Meg gives him a look of disdain and Clayton resolves to stay far away from her. One night they almost kiss and Joshua catches them. He demands that Clayton marry Meg. They do so but not eagerly. Clayton almost dies in a snowstorm and Meg realizes that she does have feelings for him. They start to genuinely love each other. They decide to have an actual wedding to celebrate their love!
A sweet, clean Western Romance in which anger and pridefulness get all tangled up as Meg and Clayton get caught in what appears to be a compromising situation playing cat and mouse and are forced to marry. Sparks fly as these two strangers try to work out their lives and gat caught up in a game of one-upmaship until disaster strikes. It can be painful when God stretches you to make you grow, but he never pulls you past the breaking point.
I'm giving this book only three stars because of all the typos. Although miss Rome is one of my favorite authors I was very surprised at how this book was edited. Story was lovely though. Can't wait to read the next in the series. I hope the editing is better in the next one.
Clayton a new hand with a great horse. Meg a dreamer who wants to travel a little. Meg is attracted to Clayton but Meg feels like Clayton will take away Meg’s dreams . Find out if meg can get past her fears and find the love of her life in Clayton or was Meg correct and Clayton does nothing but destroy Megs Dreams
Clay is a whip toating cow hunter from Florida and is now seeking a job with the Cattleman, Joshua James. Josh's third daughter Meg is an argument waiting to happen. She meets Clay and decided not to get along with him. She thinks he is arrogant and disagreeable and the feeling is mutual. This is only their start. You will enjoy their story.
Meg first impression with the way he dressed all in black and white was that of a court jester. She decided from the first he was stuck on himself with his southern charm not to like him. They clashed from the beginning, with a spark and a wink the Love has.begun. A good western story with a mixture of different families running a ranch. Filled with laughter to enjoy.
This is a tale about the third daughter, Meg. Meg wants to see more than the life on the ranch, she wants to experience the world. Clayton is an angry man when he arrives at the Broken J ranch. Can he get past that anger and start a new life here. So much is happening, Joshua just wants his daughters happy.
I have read several books written by this author but why isn't anyone editing them. The others had grammatical and punctuation errors but this one, by far, had the most. Hundreds and hundreds of errors throughout the book. It is very frustrating to read something like this.
I enjoy the series but having to pause to figure out what is trying to be said can get wearying. I'm hoping that Uncle Jedediah has found twins for the twins.
I liked the sassy duel Meg and Clay got into and this mixed , crazy family is always interesting. It's a great addition to a series that I've enjoyed very much so far. I have the next two books already purchased!
First impressions aren't always right. Neither Meg nor Clayton have a good impression of each other. Follow along as things changd. Great series with good characters and good storyline with a ending you'll love
I love this series. I love the characters. I love the way Danni takes us right to the Broken J ranch with her detailed descriptions of the setting and surroundings. I could go on and on,but if I do that I will not get to the next book in this great series.
Clayton arrives carrying a great deal of anger and resentment not really knowing what to expect. Meh is full of dreams and misjudged Clay. Fireworks in this book.
I really like stories connected the way these are. These folks are well worth knowing. Watching them make their lives together a make things happen. Thanks for writing about them.
Another wonderful story filled with love of family, friends & husband with wife. I really like the Christian back ground that goes with the story. Thank you Danni and now I am off to read book 4.😘
Meg has a plan for her life. To travel and see things. Clayton just wants to find himself after suffering so much loss in his life. Can two such opposites really attract? I enjoyed the story, it was one I couldn't put down!
Great character portrayal, dialogue, and plot twist make this a book that you won’t want to miss. Plus there’s more yet of the plot to come. 👍👍👍 Enjoy 💜
I don't like the cover of this version of the book it makes it look like there's a lot of in depth romance but there isn't any at all it is a nice clean romance.
Enjoyed this 3rd book in this series. The storyline, the believable characters and the twists and turns of falling in love, kept me contented to the wonderful ending. JudyE
Seeing a Meg get caught up in first appearances and first impressions proves the old addage, "Don't judge a book by its cover." This was another great book in the series.
