Book One: The Sea Within

Rate this book
When Effie Buyuzade, a member of Istanbul's ancient, clandestine magi community, falls under the eternal enchantment of a handsome merboy sent to entrap her, she must do everything she can to help him. The merfolk of the Sea of Marmara are being poisoned out of existence. Their only hope is to escape to the Sea Within, their ancient homeland, but the gateway is locked and they must find the key that was taken onto land centuries ago. Their hopes ride on Effie's father, Marcus, head archivist of the library at the Academy for Magi Arts and Sciences on Buyukada.

Their quest for the key takes them from the bazaars of Istanbul, to a city at the bottom of the Marmara Sea, and to the underground cave cities of Cappadocia. Effie, bound to Antaeus by the enchantment, knows that every step she takes to help him brings her that much closer to losing him. Under attack by a cyclops and a clutch of harpies and without her wand, she must learn to stand her ground and protect what is hers.

My books will be interesting to people planning to travel in Turkey as lots of food and places, and cultural practices are described. They also are suitable for families.
